Listing works in the bibliography, please, not "External links"

Hi, I see you've been contacted (above) by another editor about the same thing, and I've noticed it (and actioned it for you) in at least two places already.

So, if it's ok with you, could you possibly help out by looking at the articles you are adding links to, and try to get the books listed in the best place? Sometimes there is a "Bibliography", sometimes it's "Works" and in Cuvier's case it was "Principal scientific publications" which I've just renamed to Works! Then, please look to see if the book you are adding is already there - it was in the last 2 cases I fixed for you. If so, and your edition is not listed, then please list your "new" edition under the correct heading; when there are several editions of one book, they can all go on the same line, like this:

• Title of Book, 1st ed. details...

--- Title of Translation, [http://..... date1]; [http://..... date2]; ...

Thanks for the note/help. I had thought that all external links were meant to go into that section, but now I see that they are only meant to be left out of the body of the article. I'll start fixing my links. MaryBowser (talk) 21:31, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

Just to clarify, would you mind linking me to the area of the wikipedia style guide that covers this? Everything I've seen in this arena would indicate that the "External Links" section is the proper place for links that go outside of Wikipedia to a separate site. I understand that the difference between a title on a bibliography and a link to a digital copy of one version of that same title may be a little abstruse, but I think that there is one, i.e. adding additional relevant external links versus bibliographic references to made assertions. Also, Wikipedia pages that put links to digitized titles in the bibliography rather than the external links have been, in my experience, in a very tiny minority; for the most part, you'll find links to titles in Project Gutenberg or the Internet Archive in the "External Links."
