If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Marty sammon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Divide et Impera (talk) 22:48, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

July 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Marty sammon do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia.
Your edit here to Marty sammon was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://oldtimepiano.tripod.com/index.htm) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Nomination of Marty sammon for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Marty sammon is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Marty sammon until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. D O N D E groovily Talk to me 03:57, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I removed the speedy deletion nomination, as the page you created clearly does not meet the criteria. Please comment at the deletion discussion page as to the reasons you feel Sammon is notable to warrant a page on Wikipedia. The article you wrote was a good effort, and I apologize for the inappropriate speedy deletion request. Thank you for your contributions. D O N D E groovily Talk to me 04:00, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have been trying to include more links and references. I will try to cite the references inline. Some of the added references include the Library of Congress, German PBS film - in production release date Sept 2011, and PBS Martin Scorsese - Blues Series, Godfathers and Sons. Please allow this page to continue as Marty's contribution to the history of this music is significant and notable.
The references won't work unless you have a "References" paragraph with a "reflist" template which I now added. Make sure to have several references from independent sources (i.e. not from personal website of Martin) when you add them to support the article itself. Please start with this. Good luck. Divide et Impera (talk) 19:13, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you so much for your help. I added some references and I'm hoping it helps. I truly believe Marty is an integral link (via his experience) and voice of an art form that captures a unique American experience.
  • There was a message from Ohconfucious indicating that this article was written by Phil Guy and did not have any reliable sources to support notability. I strongly disagree. I also question that Ohconfucious reviewed the available references in the article. [Guy] is deceased. Please see the link to the wikipedia page provided in the article and or by doing a search.

Could you cut back the credits of Mr. Hambridge. There are waaayyy too many listed. This is an encyclopedia and not a reference book. Maybe only list the top 20 or so. Bgwhite (talk) 07:37, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Will do. I wanted to be as comprehensive as possible to represent his notability and accomplishments.

Please don't remove a request for sources if you don't actually provide the sources. The Mark of the Beast (talk) 17:17, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on the article right now. For future reference, who can remove the remark? Milwphil (talk) 17:17, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Once all of the entries are sourced, anybody can remove it. The Mark of the Beast (talk) 18:34, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for April 18[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Tom Hambridge, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hellfire (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
