May 2018[edit]

  • This is the oldest account, I think, and the only one that made article edits, so I'll unblock this one. Drmies (talk) 23:54, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

- Drmies My sandboxes just had a bunch of weather boxes in them. Unless that somehow offends you or causes a problem, I don’t see why you couldn’t just leave them there since I really don’t see how a bunch of weather boxes and no edits is causing issues. It also would have been nice to give a warning so I could have saved my hours of work somewhere rather than have it just vanish in an instant. Just seems very rude to unnecessarily delete a person’s work without warning. Steelernation35 (talk) 00:00, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • You had five different accounts. I left you a note on User talk:Steelernation33 twenty minutes after you edited from there; I didn't start deleting until five hours later. As for the contents, they were inappropriately copies, in violation of [[Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. So I'm sorry, but the deletion was necessary, and it was after you were being warned. June 2018[edit]

Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.

  • I added sources. What more could you want? Just leave me alone! It was up for over a year and no one cared until now and you’re the only one who’s had an issue so clearly it’s not that big of an issue.

Here’s a suggestion: Unblock this account so I can still edit but I’ll only show previews and then save those to my computer and not actually save my edits. Then I’m happy because I can update my weather boxes and you’re happy because I won’t have sock puppets anymore and if I do create a sock puppet again, you can block it permanently. Try that as a reasonable compromise. Drmies

Request reason:

I understand I was blocked for using sock puppet accounts. I didn’t realize the issue at first because I was only editing my sandbox with them and no actual articles but then I was banned again so I realize I can’t do that. This is the only account I edited articles with and no one had any issues with the edits I made so I would like this account unblocked so I can continue to contribute and edit. I now understand I can’t have more than one account so I will only use this one if unblocked. If necessary, you can keep creating accounts blocked, but I have learned my lesson and will continue to try to improve Wikipedia using a single account. Steelernation35 (talk) 20:17, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I'm going to give you exactly one do-over on this one. Please list in a new unblock request every account you've ever had on this site. SQLQuery me! 04:45, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Question: How many accounts do you have? List them below, please. —DoRD (talk) 21:28, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • G34589
  • L2693
  • Steelernation35

The other two I’m fine with being blocked as this is the only one I have and will use for edits. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Steelernation35 (talkcontribs) 22:25, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That answer is ... incomplete. —DoRD (talk) 23:27, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • What was I missing? I listed them there, I guess I should have said I had 3.

Steelernation35

You might remember that above, Drmies said that there were five accounts, but there are more than that even. —DoRD (talk) 00:19, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Steelernation 34, Steelernation36, Steeletnation37, Steelernation33. Those were blocked awhile ago but I thought since they had been up for 1.5 years before and I wasn’t making edits I didn’t realize I was doing anything wrong so I created the 2 new ones I told you about but then those got blocked so I now have learned my lesson and know that creating sock puppets is wrong, even if I don’t edit articles with them, so in the future I will only use my one account and focus on contributing to Wikipedia. Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficiently convincing for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. Yamla (talk) 21:56, 10 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, I'm glad you're listing them all, but I still have no idea what you're doing here besides copying into user space without attribution--and I note you've continued to do that after being warned; G34589 did it on 9 June, after being warned. And here's another thing: you complain about my having deleted hours of your work--well, no, I deleted your copying of hours of other people's work. So I will be happy to leave the unblocking to another administrator, and I can confirm that (right now, and as far as I can see) the sock accounts that the editor listed are all the ones there are, and that all the sock accounts are blocked. I'm happy to make a non-CU admin make the call. Drmies (talk) 17:25, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Steelernation35, if unblocked, what sort of editing do you intend to do? —DoRD (talk) 18:00, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • DoRD I intend to add and edit the climate sections of various places, usually adding weather boxes and updating others. You can check my contributions and find that I did that a lot before with seemingly no issue so that is what I would do if unblocked. And Drmies, I was copying the weather box template a lot but I was making my own changes to them within my sandbox. I was not just mindlessly copying weatherboxes that other people made. However, I won’t do that any more as I’ve already been blocked twice about it so I now realize having sock puppets is wrong. So in the future if I’m unblocked I will only edit articles and if there’s no issue with it, my own sandbox on one account. It says in my contributions that I’ve created or fixed many climate sections, so that is what I would continue to do if unblocked.

  • We use sandboxes to prepare for article edits, to try them out. Any copying into user space MUST follow the guidelines in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia, lest (parts of) the editing history may be lost. Please read those guidelines, and any admin considering unblock will want to hear your assurance that you will abide by them. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 21:07, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • A lot of people on weather forums I’m on keep weather boxes in their sandboxes so I never realized that was an issue and then I didn’t really understand when I was blocked the first time. I just read those guidelines so I understand the rules now. I assure anyone who will unblock me that I will follow these rules from now on. Steelernation35
  • Drmies, DoRD I am just wondering if a decision has been reached. I understand that I did something wrong and did it once again after being warned but I now realize the issue with what I was doing and will not keep weather boxes in my sandbox or make sock puppets again. I know I can’t prove I will follow the rules but by giving me a chance, I can show how I have learned from my mistakes and will only make legit edits from now on. I would really appreciate being unblocked and I am hoping you will give me another chance to show I will contribute within the rules of Wikipedia in the future. Thank you.

I will possibly be without internet the next few days so I may not respond immediately if you have any questions for me.Steelernation35
