Yes, I can understand not finding it intuitive.... Wikipedia is a big place with a vast amount of data and guidelines / policy. WP:FIRST contains everything you need to know about writing your first article. Wikipedia:Getting started is a good place to start for general editing. You may also find a lot of answers to specific questions at our Help Desk
