2014 Atlantic hurricane season[edit]

Regarding your edit on 2014 Atlantic hurricane season, can you prove that? It would be helpful; in any case, I don't think we should use dates that even along the Prime Meridian will be in the future, although that isn't the main issue. Dustin (talk) 21:47, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Hendrick Motorsports 'Team'[edit]

8. Chase Rose is a team member of "Hendrick Motorsports" this is legitimate. He has been vandalized by others such as Batsfan5431 also anonymoususer. This is not fair and we at Hendrick will contact wikipedia on an investigation of this matter. Also if we have to we will proceed to legal action for this matter. Re: Thank You[edit]

No need to apologize as it's not your fault. I have no idea who added those tornadoes, but they have been here for a long time. It may take a while to fix every mention of 358 tornadoes. At least we finally caught it. Sharkguy05 (talk) 20:30, 8 July 2014 (UTC)Sharkguy05

Tornado List[edit]

I am sorry to see you withdraw the FLC, however i think it would be wise to show you this sandbox which is where i had started to condense it/play with the blurbs. Talking of playing with blurbs - i dont think its wise for you to mention every single tornado that caused trees to be uprooted/downed on the list, after all i presume tree uprooted/downed is one of the most basic forms of damage form tornadoes.Jason Rees (talk) 23:26, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

@Jason Rees: – No tornadoes will be removed. It would not be wise to remove all of the less-notable tornadoes. It goes directly against the Project; these lists are meant to include all tornadoes and not just the notable ones. United States Man (talk) 23:30, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
Also, the main reason I withdrew was to put these back together and nominate it as a whole, so it should work out. You might want to be on the lookout for when I do that, if you'd like to give any input. United States Man (talk) 23:34, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
Sorry i worded that badly. I mean in the impact section i don't think its wise, to be telling the reader every time several trees fell over.Jason Rees (talk) 23:39, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
@Jason Rees: – Are you talking about the summary at the end of each entry on the table? If so, I don't see why those should be removed just because they are repetitive. Every tornado should have all of its damage noted. United States Man (talk) 23:44, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
Ill respond more fully when im fully awake tomorrow but several people including me would disagree that we need to cover each and every bit of damage associated with a tornado or tropical cyclone. It is also worth noting that I am also not claiming to be the best writer in the world but trying to offer you some friendly advice so that we can tell the reader what they need to know without having an excessive page size. Also while i realize im pinging you just by writing here - theres no need to constantly ping me as i know this conversation is happening.Jason Rees (talk) 00:19, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
I've never heard anyone here complain of the preciseness of the summaries for tornadoes on list pages. Now I understand not mentioning it in a special section for a very significant tornado, such as the ones of April 25–28, 2011 tornado outbreak, or a tropical cyclone. But a lot of the damage caused by the majority of tornadoes is to trees and power lines. With probably 45-55%, that is all the damage they cause, so we wouldn't have anything there. With the one's that cause more damage, we always include the trees to try to be consistent. Once I get the page upgraded, I will look at the possibility of condensing a few things. United States Man (talk) 00:26, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
Lets not call my ramblings a complaint - just a few suggestions/pointers. While I realize that most of the damage is done to trees etc but there is a point where things get a bit excessive especially when you are writing about an EF0. For example:

Weak tornado downed trees and power lines and blew over road signs before moving into Coahoma County. It continued downing trees and power lines before moving back into Phillips County, where it downed even more trees. The tornado once again moved into Coahoma County near Friars Point, Coahoma, and Lula, where several homes and a church sustained roof damage, one home was moved off of the block foundation, and a commercial metal storage building had a large section of its roof peeled off. Trees, power poles, and road signs were downed as well before the tornado continued into Tunica County. It downed more trees and power lines and overturned an irrigation pivot before dissipating.

In that blurb you tell me fives times that the tornadoes blew down some trees. Why can that not be summarized something along the lines of: The tornado moved in and out of Coahoma and Phillips counties, before dissipating in Tunica County. Within Tunica County the system overturned an irrigation pivot while in Coahoma County the tornado caused several homes, a commercial metal storage building and a church to sustain roof damage. Within all 3 counties the system downed trees, power lines and blew over road signs. Just some food for thought - will keep an eye on the page over the next few months and maybe give you some suggestions before you run for FLC again.Jason Rees (talk) 00:48, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Okay, I see now. Sometimes I can get too carried away when writing summaries. I'll cut those down. United States Man (talk) 00:51, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

List of tornadoes in the April 25–28, 2011 tornado outbreak - FLC[edit]

Before I do anything too drastic, can I confirm: is this a request to withdraw the FLC nomination? If so, I'll do that for you now. Thanks - SchroCat (talk) 10:35, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Many thanks, I will do: I hope to see if back again at some point. Cheers - SchroCat (talk) 12:55, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Upgrading on List of tornadoes in the April 25–28, 2011 tornado outbreak[edit]

If you don't want to bother answering or you think it will take too long to do so, it's fine, but I notice that you have been making several changes to the article with edit summaries such as "upgrading" and "pre-upgrading", so I thought I would ask, what are you actually doing? I am not questioning your edits, by the way, I am just curious. Thanks. Dustin (talk) 15:57, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Also, if I can help in any way, I would be perfectly willing. Dustin (talk) 16:07, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
I am just upgrading to a new MoS-compliant table. It shouldn't be too much work, so I think I can handle it. Thanks though, United States Man (talk) 17:02, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Actually look for previous discussions before reverting.[edit]

I have already explained this multiple times in multiple places to multiple different users. Dustin (talk) 00:32, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

Please see the talk page. There is a discussion there, but you chose to revert to the non-long-standing, questioned version. If you do not provide actual warnings like at http://weather.gov and other forms of texts (not random reports because they use inconsistent formatting), then there is no basis for you to change it back to lowercase. Dustin (talk) 15:05, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
Along with the above, finding the discussion is as easy as looking at the talk page, so I ask that you do so. My version of the page lasted for a few months if I remember correctly, making it now the long-standing version, meaning that the article should remain with "Tornado Warning" capitalized as such prior to further discussion. Dustin (talk) 14:43, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2014 ARCA Racing Series season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Brandon Jones. Hurricane/typon templates have been merged[edit]

Per Wikipedia:Templates_for_discussion/Log/2013_September_1#Template:Infobox_indian_current, the current templates needed to be merged, and I found a way to do it using the same Template:infobox hurricane used on past storms. Please check the new documentation for how to use it on active storms. --Netoholic @ 02:16, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

You are breaking a number of instances of this template on active storms, PLEASE stop reverting. --Netoholic @ 02:16, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

I am going to revert Template:Infobox hurricane to fix issues on old articles that are unrelated to the "current" template merge. Keep using the old current templates, but please let this revert stand for the benefit of old articles. -- Netoholic @ 04:33, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

Re: Template:Infobox hurricane current[edit]

I've reverted your removal of the TFD tag on the template, as removing those is against Wikipedia policy. I do encourage you to comment on the TFD for the infobox. Titoxd(?!? - cool stuff) 02:11, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Thanks extension ThankYou.png You thanked me for one of my recent edits, so here is a heart-felt...
 YOU'RE WELCOME, United States Man!

You have thanked me many times, and I honestly need to do the same more often for others. Thank you for thanking me! Face-wink.svg Dustin (talk) 04:10, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
You are very welcome yourself. When I first saw that I had a new message, I figured it was a disgruntled editor from Talk:Malaysia Airlines Flight 17. This was a welcome surprise. Thanks, United States Man (talk) 04:14, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
It's not a problem. Dustin (talk) 04:17, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
@Dustin V. S.: Great minds think alike I suppose. United States Man (talk) 05:51, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
Regarding the RfA page, I happen to be watching it, and I was going to undo those edits because they were improper and in the incorrect location, but you happened to do so first. Then, I went to notify the user of the fact that making an RfA would be premature, and by the time I finished, you had welcomed that user. I wasn't following you around on your contributions or something, it really was just a coincidence. I just thought I would say that. Dustin (talk) 05:56, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
No, I wasn't accusing. What you just said backs up what I said. We both thought the same thing at the same time. United States Man (talk) 06:00, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
I suppose so. Also, on the accusations part: no, I didn't think you were making accusations, I just thought I should say this after I saw your welcome on that user's talk page. Dustin (talk) 06:06, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
