What's with Wikitext Markup?[edit]

I am wondering, what are the uses of learning wikitext markup over using the visual editor? I can appreciate the wikitext markup as a way to geek out and work more intimately with the language that wikipedia uses. How about for efficiency and specificity? Or is it just kind of dated? --Viamail (talk) 00:59, 13 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
