  • Haha. This topic may seem easy, but it is difficult to edit. Different species have its own migration habits while some species don't migrate at all. Somehow bird migration can be influence by many different factors (internally and externally). Recently I have came across an article regarding climate changes which has influence some species to change their migration habits. It has a fascinating life history and has been documented in a few movies (something called March of the Penguins). There is a recent hard-to-get paper from some NZ or Aussie journal (Alcheringa or the likes) that argues a few points that might be considered. If the moa article is kept at genus level or above and doesn't get too detailed about species, there shouldnn't be major problems though.
I think the Lost World book should be accessible at least in part (Amazon?) Old Notornis papers are good for specimen data. I have a carbon copy of Oliver' NZ Birds which is unreliable but highly highly detailed.

And I want to add, the baby-stork story has more truth to it then people think, not that they bring babies, but that storks are generally more common in areas that also carry larger families. Comments: Right now, Wikipedia's preening article redirects to personal grooming and includes human activities (though it's much less human-centric than it used to be). The in-line cites need revamping; there has to be a proper (alphabetic) list in this taxon if in any because if you write as much as 3 sentences about these critters without constantly accessing a ref list to quadruple-check, odds are you will include at least one major error. If you happen to have access to a copy of Hachisuka (1953), read it once again, weep once again, and nod knowingly... oh, half the literature that simply has to be in there - no secondary sources because many are garbled - is pre-1800... There is, I think, a round-up review from the 1950s(? -era?), and Birds of North America (I don't have access at present) I think is also extremely good.
A question I always asked myself: how can a 1000-sqare-klick-colony location be not remembered? The mid-20th-century book seems to be the only source with locality information.   • Support - as explained on the bird project page. I have one question that was left unanswered during the GA review, which might finally get answered (why Gould gave it a new scientific name).
