The problem with the following vowel, of course, is that this is not Welsh but very specifically North Welsh. The previous IPA presented the diaphoneme ɪ because the purpose of this transliteration is to tell a reader how the word is pronounced - not to tell them how it is pronounced specifically in one dialect (necessitating multiple entries to indicate the subtleties of each dialect). This page is not about linguistics. We just want the reader to know how to pronounce the word. Also the recently added citations are unnecessary. We don't need to cite spelling. undo
