The understanding of what defines the word "pastina" in North America varies regionally. For instance, some refer to small (1 mm) round or slightly irregular pasta as pastina, while others insist that only stelline pasta equates to pastina. Actually, by definition of the Italian word pastina, i.e., "tiny pasta", a number of small pasta types fall under this definition. undo
