Character Background

Eddie Winslow is the first child and son of Harriette Winslow and Carl Winslow, and was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 28, 1974, he has a younger sister, Laura Winslow, and short-lived baby sister, Judy Winslow. Eddie was known for having poor grades at his High School (which is never mentioned), his fling with girlfriend, Greta McClure, and his rejection of his annoying neighbor, Steve Urkel's cousin, Myrtle Urkel.

In the first episode of the series, Eddie wanted to go out on a date during a school night, he kept begging his parents to let him out, but they refuse, so Eddie decided to not speak to his father and mother, but all things work out and Eddie forgives his parents.

Another episode "The Crash Course" (aired October 12, 1990), shows where Carl gives Eddie his first driving lesson, and unknown to show his first girlfriend, Jolene, who he gives a ride in the station wagon, crashes through the family's house, Jolene leaves to avoid what happened, and Laura and Steve Urkel comes and find the station wagon during at the family's living room, an ultra furious Carl wants an explanation from Eddie, and Harriette tries to hold Carl from Killing his only child! and his Aunt Rachel Crawford tries to push Eddie from being extinct from his father, but Steve Urkel defends him by saying he drove the station wagon into the family's living room, Steve's parents are outraged, and sent him to Military school, but Eddie wants to take blame for it himself (because of he drove it!), in the last scene of the episode, Eddie finds Carl blowing a balloon for his nephew, Richie, Eddie tells the truth, and a calmed Carl grounds Eddie for a month, and the two make up and all is forgotten.

Eddie is rebellious in some episodes during the series' run, but later in the show's ninth year, in 1997, Eddie takes a job as a yuppie cop, working side by side with his father.

Greta's father was Eddie's employer, and in the episode "Walking My Baby Home" (aired on October 27, 1995), he forbids her from seeing Eddie for a month after they come home past curfew. Eddie hatches a plan and uses Steve Urkel as her boyfriend (originally Eddie was the one taking her out).
