Orphaned non-free media (Image:Devdas.jpg)
Thanks for uploading :Image:Devdas.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Deewaar.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Deewaar.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:43, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

Hi Grenavitar, just spoted your message. No, in not around anymore. I did learn lots while editing here, but after a while it felt that the productivity of the time i spent here eroded, while the reistance i met from Sunni and maintream editors was constant, thus, it eventualy became not worth the effort. For now, i have been working on a wiki of my own, and have spent one year laing it's groundwork and infrastructure. I hope to launch it soon. I trust you are all well to? --Striver - talk 22:11, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Dil_Se_DVD_cover.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Dil_Se_DVD_cover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 20:15, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Brew-ha-ha on Muhammad

There's been a lot of discussion of image issues on enwiki-l (the mailing list for english Wikipedia) and I mentioned it to Itaqallah as someone who's been a reasonable voice is a sea of (something else) as the discussion there has the advantage of being composed of people who's first goal is the encyclopaedia, but the disadvantage of few of them being familiar with the situation. Itaqallah recommended I drop you a note to the same effect, so here it is. Doesn't require your attention if you're uninterested, but might be a source of productive editors in the area. Smallville

I beg to differ. The author has a PhD in English, has published academic books and scholarly articles on fiction and television, with specialties in gay culture. See his bio. The publishing agent of that article might not be the most professional, but the author at least has a history of publishing on television (with at least two books on other television series.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 02:44, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it's partially my fault because unlike on the main page, I forgot to link to his credentials as well. So, all you saw was his name and nothing else. As for using it as a source. When researching sources, I couldn't find really any thematical elements on just the first season, or on any single season of the show. When people talk they usually do it in reference to the series as a whole. That's why I felt listing it as an external link wsa the most appropriate since I couldn't write an entire section based on a single person's perspective (not even if they were the foremost authority on the subject), but it was still interesting reading on the first and second seasons, so I felt that was the best place for it.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 03:37, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First Convention of the Industrial Workers of the World

You had typed:

...you cited the Brissenden book The I.W.W. which... I know there was a printing of the second edition in 1920 which I have seen but your date was 1919 so... could you add publisher information (city, publisher, edition info, etc.) on either the page or my userpage

This article was split off from Industrial Workers of the World when that article became too mired in detail. I think that all of the Brissenden material was added before the separation. I don't recall having that source, so i'm afraid that i won't be able to assist. This maybe the edit you want:

Image source problem with Image:MxPx - Life in General.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:MxPx - Life in General.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:19, 28 February 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Geniac (talk) 17:19, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged Image:Moscow_Does_Not_Believe_In_Tears.jpg as no rationale, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Hello Gren

Hello Gren!

How are you? Long time... (if you remember me)

I think you are a great editor. Yeh Manisha is indeed the best actress of the 90s. I was amazed everytime with her powerful performances. She is so underrated today. Khamoshi, for example, is a great example of superb acting. She had to win a national film award for this film, but lost, due to a delay in submission of entries by the producers. Also I liked her in Dil Se, Bombay, Agnisakshi, and even B-grade movies like Escape from Taliban and Market among others (in fact, all her films!! :-} ). She has recently starred in Tulsi, which released last month. I'll see it ASAP. I have expanded her article, but it's difficult to make a GA, because her career was mainly notable in the 90s, and there is a very little number of net sources covering her career then. What do you think about the article?

Though I was not a fan of Karisma in the 90s, cause I don't really appreciate these David Dhavan commedies (though great entertainment, except for Swarg, there is nothing special about his films in terms of acting). Fiza was a complete turning point in Karisma's career. You must watch this film! I was shocked with her super natural portrayal. The scene which had her crying for her mother after the latter had committed suicide is in my opinion one of the most powerful scenes in the history of Hindi cinema.

As for Preity, I'm a big fan. She is my favourite actress of today's generation. I think she is amazing. She has excited me with every performance. Well, I've seen all her films. Have you? I'm happy she took on off beat cinema this year. She made a film with non other than Deepa Mehta, Rituparno Ghosh and also Assamese director Jahnu Barua. I took the article to GA, and I'm planning to take it to a second FAC soon.

Thanks for the message friend. My best regards, ShahidTalk2me 22:36, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
