What a great way of irritating vandals. I went to check the source on you user page, and all I got was TO VANDALS. Sweet, you are an inspiration. How do you edit your user page tnhough? Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 00:40, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe not adoption, a term that I think is an innapropriate use of the word in this context, and I have an adopter anyway. I had more in mind a sort of think tank, where you and I try and help each other's exploits into wikipedia, maybe diversifying each other's interests etc. I hate football for instance, perhaps I could learn to appreciate the need for a sport that brings people together. I need, I want, to get my namespace edits up, which I think you could help with. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 10:48, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
While I enthusiastically agree that FF is infinitely better than IE, I am afraid that your userpage looks almost identical in both. This is your page in IE7. This is your page in Firefox. You may want to change the little notice thingy on your main userpage. J.delanoygabsadds17:47, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
yup. I was waiting for my brother to get himself off his computer so we could go to McDonalds. It wasn't worth it to log into huggle for like 5 minutes, so instead I wasted that time by actually finding the IE .exe file in the depths of c:\program_files and firing it up, taking two screenshots, uploading them to Flickr, and even taking the time to change the copyright status to CC rather than all rights reserved. All this instead of fighting vandalism. I really need to get my priorities straight.... J.delanoygabsadds18:41, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Interests
Reading, English language, guitar based bands of the sixties, and playing guitar are m main interests. Probably guitar and English are the ones I tend to focus on outside of Wikipedia, I am in a band and I want to be an English teacher. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 00:42, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey man, thanks for the editor review, and thanks for the suggestions on article improvment, I will do those. I am not entirely certain what you mean by "talk to others like an administrator" I am reasonably certain that that is a complement, and I thank you for it, but I want to know what it means to "talk to others like an administrator" I assume that it will affect any future attempts at admin that I may have? Thanks, Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 06:51, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thanks for your GAN help. I know this one failed a GAN before, but still, if you could list out more specifically any other issues with the article when reviewing it'd be really great. If you usually do this and this was just a one off because the article had already been reviewed in the past, than feel free to ignore me! Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 09:17, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Note left on user's talk page, thanks man. Perhaps I was somewhat ambiguous when I said that one of my main interests is the English Language. Forgive me, that is one of the main problems with the language. I meant that my passion was for the subject that I am sure you study at school, literacy I think they call it in Scotland, I love poetry and Shakespeare etc. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 09:53, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No worries at all, and thanks for the award. I might end up reviewing it for GA myself. I don't like to have more than one on the go at the same time. My first suggestion would be to remove the notable players section - they've often been removed from football teams and instead lists of former players articles done instead, e.g. List of Aberdeen F.C. players. Otherwise that section is too much POV. Peanut4 (talk) 11:07, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just do what you can. It's a good start. I'm sure you'll find some more sources, or someone else will help fill in the gaps. Peanut4 (talk) 20:32, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Torchwood
why did you request deletion? I'm puzzled, I dont want to just delete it if you've maybe made a mistake of some sort. . I'll look here for the reply. DGG (talk) 01:42, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! We're looking to finish the BCAD drive within the next few days. People do sign up and find themselves, for a variety of excellent reasons, unable to complete their range as quickly as they intended. I see you've done about a quarter of your range. May I please allocate your range to another editor as it is important we wrap this drive up before the main one starts mid-April-ish. If I don't hear within 24 hours, I'll assume that you have no objections. All the best, --ROGER DAVIEStalk07:27, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please revert whatever joke you're trying to pull with your signature. It's just leaving a mess all over the place whenever you issue warnings or make WP:AIV reports. Thanks. -- Netsnipe ► 14:49, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think you also need to force refresh the monobook.js page after making that change. For Firefox, that just means holding down CTRL and pressing F5 while you're viewing your monobook.js page. — BRIAN0918 • 2008-04-01 17:57Z
It should put a new signature button at the end of your row of buttons (above the edit window). Make sure you're clicking on that button rather than the normal signature button. — BRIAN0918 • 2008-04-01 18:01Z
I fixed it for you. You had to surround it in <pre></pre> and comment out the pre lines. Now just force refresh that page. Also, the "Z" just denotes UTC. — BRIAN0918 • 2008-04-01 19:35Z
Could you give the article a copyedit? It's up for FAC right now, and I probably should get someone who's not me (presumably because I'm too familiar with the article the way it is) to do a copyedit. Thanks! Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood02:08, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but that's incorrect on both counts. The Scottish Second Division is the third division of Scottish football (behind the Premier League and First Division), and is definitely not fully professional (Queen's Park are well known for being amateur) - see this recent discussion on a player from the same division which noted that only 3 of the 10 clubs are professional. Cheers, пﮟოьεԻ5708:49, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, he needs to actually play for them (or a team in the SPL/First division) to meet the WP:BIO#Athletes criteria. The AfD I linked to above is for a Hibs reserve player who had only played in Division 2. If you don't mind, could you add {{db-author}} to the articles so they can be speedy deleted, rather than waiting five days for the prod to expire (during which time an IP invariably removes it and means we have the hassle of a full AfD...). Cheers, пﮟოьεԻ5708:54, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that. As you probably noticed on my talk page, some people tend to get a bit defensive in these situations, so it's nice to come across someone rational :) пﮟოьεԻ5709:00, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Torchwood-Series-One-Cover-UK.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Torchwood-Series-One-Cover-UK.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:23, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Aberdeen GA
It's absolutely deserved. I came across the first GA, and made some minor amendments then, but only just started reviewing GAs myself. The improvements made since that first listing are amazing and it's fully deserved. I seriously think it's not far off a push for FAC. Peanut4 (talk) 14:55, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't worry about bloating the reference block. Adding page numbers just helps anyone to find the information easier I suppose. Peanut4 (talk) 20:32, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Lol. No worries. You've also just pointed me in the direction I've also been changing elsewhere (and hesistantly I may add) but now realise I was right. Woohoo!! Peanut4 (talk) 20:37, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, but remember: it's fortnightly, so I need it by the 11th (as I need to review it, submit it, copyedit, etc.) Edit the template found here. Enjoy. --Sharkface21720:44, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
