License tagging for Image:The Motels.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:The Motels.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:11, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Peer review

I have posted a peer review for The Motels. IvoShandor 08:07, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Really no problem, as for the sourcing, if they would truly say it to anyone it shouldn't be too hard to find elsewhere. Since the new incarnation of The Motels is different I would say it would be appropriate to use past tense for the old Motels and present for The Motels featuring Martha Davis. As for the shows, no kidding? I live near Chicago. Thanks for the info. If you have any comments about my peer review feel free to address them on the peer review page and I will comment there. I kind of figured you didn't write the bulk of the article but I like to address the peer review nominee directly sometimes in my reviews. : ) Hope it helps, I may have some other comments as the page develops. IvoShandor 05:46, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed your first ref, I had to revert but I changed the date from 73 back to 75. You can see the formatting I used for the reference when you edit the page. Always try to include, author (if available), title with link if available, see how I did it on the page, publisher, date published (if abvailable) and the date of retrieval, all full dates in citations should be linked per WP:DATE. I didn't add your second citation back in, but removed the fact tag, still needs a cite though, because it looked like a fansite, see WP:RS. IvoShandor 06:20, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah... I saved the ref tags and realized they were in error. As I was fixing the backslashes you had already done it and we had a conflict wiki edit. I'll add some references at a time you aren't fixing all my problems :-) By the way, a fan site it is... my own, but it is semi-official. Martha Davis wants me to keep it up to date and most of the former band members periodically send me info to include. I know many personally and they were the ones who originally told me of the wiki site and it's inaccuracies and asked if I could "fix" the errors. So first it was get the info correct, then get peer review to get the writing upgraded with some good advice. Then dig into my source articles to properly cite this thing and hope that not too much sourcing was gotten over a glass of wine with Marty or Martha backstage. I will only use my fansite as a last resort but things like a comlete gig list, song lyrics and some band member interviews are found nowhere else.
This could lead to problems, see WP:OR, WP:RS, WP:COI. IvoShandor 06:48, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh and I am done over there for now. : ) IvoShandor 06:49, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not worried about COI because I'll just keep presenting the article to peer groups for refinement. But the other two items...well... I guess I'll just keep my site out of the article completely to avoid any potential problems. Thanks.
I appreciate it, It isn't that I am against your site, its just that these policies and guidelines are the result of months and years of hard work and aren't in place for arbitrary reasons. I thank you for seeing that. If it isn't a problem I am going to copy this dicussion to the peer review page under its own section so it will be archived later accordingly. tennis problems

i see you are having problems with ryoung in mens tennis. Do you need an ally because hes really pissed me off. FreepRipper 05:42, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

While Mr Ryoung IS causing everyone anguish I don't want to think of this problem as needing "allies." RYoung is begging everyone in the book to join his side but I'm not comfortable in sides as I'm on Tennis' side. I ungreyed the items in question and he took more and wouldn't compromise... I greyed them back. He hurled insult after insult at me so now I just ignore him to make my life easier. He says he asked for italics instead of greying...hmm... I didn't see that but I'd go along with it if that's as far as it went, but mark my words I'm sure he'll want more. My advise would be don't edit until he tires of his attacks or wait till the tennis group comes to a consensus on what to do with the issue. I don't think the tennis establishment will see it his way but you never know. Fyunck(click) 09:14, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Album "That 80's Merry Christmas Album" with Martha Davis Song

I was wondering if you knew more about this album if you had it or seen it, I couldn't find a reference to it online anywhere, do you know if it was a "Target store" or some other exclusive CD those usually find there way onto Ebay, Amazon and places like that, or maybe it had another name, like "Rhino's That 80's" or something added to the title? the list of Motels albums looks pretty good now, it'd be neat to see a list of all the songs and things Martha Davis has appeared on or written, but I still not sure where some of them came from, like a song called "Teeth", by Martha Davis. I added a article about the Omnium (Album) and a link on A T. Rex Named Sue, to the main article that tells about the T.rex. (Floppydog66 10:15, 16 September 2007 (UTC))[reply]

That Xmas album has an isbn of 735885727321, and yes I own a copy. I think it may have come out at Target or Walmart last Xmas and is supposed to be available this Xmas too. Martha sings "Santa Baby" and it's pretty cool! I asked Tommy Tutone to send me a copy since I couldn't find it in a store (and Ms Davis was plum out of them). Martha has over 600 songs so it would be overkill to include them on wiki. If you visit the linked page on the bottom of wiki you will find many of her songs listed... "Teeth" included. It was never released but turns up from time to time at her gigs. I hope that helps you a little but feel free to ask away if I missed something. Fyunck(click) 04:33, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed your edit on the above article [1]. Would you like to take a look at my comments on the article's talk page and discuss what we're going to do about that section? --Tony Sidaway 01:52, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've added what I think is a fair assessment of the section and why I think it should stay. It does skirt the original research a bit, but to have a whole bunch of pages of rankings scattered about wiki would be a mess and make it not in the best interest of wiki readers. Mostly this brings all rankings systems together and simply adds them up, ties being co-ranked. Fyunck(click) (talk) 08:06, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Motels article

The infobox should always be at the very top of the article. And that image needs a proper caption (I couldn't find out who that person is in the photo, which is why I removed it.) — Wackymacs (talk) 17:31, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good on the image box placement. I question the use of the album art since wiki in the past has told us not to use it. I talked to a guy at Capitol Records and he told me that they own the rights to even the smallest production of the artwork so I'm wondering if you are putting this article into a gray area of dispute by including it. Thanks for adding to the subject. The image is Martha Davis by the way. Fyunck(click) (talk) 19:01, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There is such a thing as fair use. As long as its low resolution, and used for a meaningful purpose (in this case, yes), then it's fine. Please see Wikipedia's policies on usage of Copyrighted images: Wikipedia:Fair_use#ImagesWackymacs (talk) 19:03, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually "meaningful" isn't correct. It could be meaningful to show it in the discography section and that is illegal in wiki. But it appears I was incorrect about using it in a critical section of the article. Thanks for the help. Fyunck(click) (talk) 19:40, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have been temporarily blocked from editing in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for incivility and personal attacks. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. Elonka 22:19, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am not excusing the language of Tennis expert (talk · contribs), and I agree that he could be more civil. However, this post of yours to his talkpage, was completely unacceptable.[2] It is never proper to respond to what you perceive as rudeness, with more rudeness. I will deal with Tennis expert separately, but for now, your account access has been blocked for 24 hours. When you resume editing, please endeavor to adopt a better standard of behavior. Thanks, Elonka 22:25, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
of course I posted my unblock request right as you posted this comment otherwise maybe I wouldn't have made the request. I'm not having any problems with anyone else as you can see but Tennis Expert has multitudes of problems. Is it everyone else and not him? I did not contact him and never would have except for his out of the blue attack. I can accept punishment as well as the next guy and if you truly feel I was wrong for my "response" then I can live with a temporary block. But what burns me is the injustice of being fair to both sides if I get smacked and TE gets tapped.
TE had only asked you a question. You were given the option to answer or not. Rgoodermote  22:45, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
But there is a difference. If I walk up to a random guy on the street and say "yes or no" do you want a drink of water?" that is not a problem. If I walk up to another guy and say "yes or no" are you a serial rapist?" I would expect to get punched in the nose. This is nowhere near the same thing but it was not an innocent "I'm an angel" little query. I'm really tired of this whole affair. Fyunck(click) (talk) 22:55, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Fyunck, can you please provide a diff of just what exactly that TE said, which you felt was an attack? Or are you referring to his query about whether or not you were a sockpuppet? Thanks, Elonka 22:56, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

this is unbelievable to me. I'm minding my own business when Tennis Expert writes an extremely inflammatory statement on my talk page right out of the blue. I respond and I get blocked with no warning? Does that sound fair? I write and tell him he is ignorant of the situation if he doesn't think what he wrote to me is abrasive and to leave me alone and I GET BLOCKED and he doesn't? Does that really sound fair? I don't even know what to say.

Notes:

  • In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems.
