I have reviewed your redesign and it's a major step forward, especially in adding the statistics box as a summary. Revision as of 23:26, 5 August 2008

Welcome to my talk page. Please note that it is very boring. It has never received a Welcome Message; it is only set to autoarchive threads older than 90 days due to a serious lack of activity; and it will probably never attract a talk page stalker.

Here are some tips to help you communicate with me:

  • New threads should go at the bottom of the page.
  • Add or respond to an existing conversation under the existing heading.
  • Indent your comment when replying by using an appropriate number of colons ':'.
  • Create a new heading if the original conversation is archived.
  • To initiate a new conversation on this page click on this link.
  • You should sign your comments. You can do this automatically by typing four tildes (~~~~).

Diocesan Infobox

To the Members of the WikiProject Catholicism

I have proposed at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Catholicism an infobox for Catholic Dioceses. I have not gotten any feedback on this proposal, so I’m culling feedback, advice, corrections, etc. for this. If you have the time, would you check out User:SkierRMH/Diocese_Infobox and give me some feedback! Thanks much!!

Thank You

Thank for cleaning up the Whelan page so quickly after I noted its problems. Awesome job. David in DC (talk) 15:11, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Homeschooling Financial Obligations

Hello Jim Miller, you have recently provided a third opinion on the homeschooling talk page. I requested it to include something about the deletion of the financial obligations section. There also have been follow up questions. Can you look into this or should an extra third opinion be requested? Species8473 (talk) 14:37, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:2006 New Jersey State Government shutdown

Jim, great work on the article. I've expanded the lead a little and renominated it for GA status. Hopefully the article will pass the nomination this time round. --ZeWrestler Talk 14:51, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • A reviewer has looked at the article. Some tasks need to be handled for it. May you help out with the article some more?--ZeWrestler Talk 04:17, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Good work the other day with your updates. The reviewer is still presenting us with some comments that I've done some work on, but if you could provide some more help, that would be great. Thanks again--ZeWrestler Talk 14:47, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad to see the article was finally promoted. It was great collaborating with you on it. Sorry I went AWOL towards the end, real life kicked in again. Looking forward to working on something else with you in the future. --ZeWrestler Talk 03:03, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Didier AFD #3

They keep trying to find reasons to delete it. It is up for a 3rd time. If they would only channel their efforts into improving it. After all, it has been improved and even re-titiled. Presumptive (talk) 03:00, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NJ town article assessments

Chris, I saw you changed the assessment for Allentown, New Jersey to C class. I wanted to go through and assess all the articles about towns that were in the backlog of NJ unassessed articles. I rated a large number of articles as B, but I agree with your change, and was hoping to come up with something consistant. Do you think all the automated articles should be C class if they have not been further improved? I also have been rating municipalities as Mid importance, and unicorporated areas as Low.

We could have this discussion on the project talk page, but that has been pretty dead recently. Jim Miller (talk) 13:58, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jim, IMO, I think that articles that have not been improved from the automated bot information should either be stub-class (if short for a CDP for example) or start-class if it contains the usual municipality information. Fortunately, WP:NJ members like User:Alansohn have been adding details to nearly all of these articles, so there are few that are in that category. Many are now either start-class or C-class. B-Class articles should be well referenced and have broad topical coverage. Also, at least one photo, IMO. As for importance, low-importance is for things that are only of ancillary concern to WP:NJ. Examples include Annie's Road and Evil Clown of Middletown. IMO, all communities should be mid-importance, except for major cities, which should be high-importance. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 14:15, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nice job with Credit Unions

Great that you added the reference about bankers' agenda in regards to CUs on the Credit union page. Nice job with that. -Mmpartee (talk) 12:31, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Doctor Who poem quote - Houston, we have a problem

I was thinking about how best to include the poem reference, so I decided to look at the citation for the poem's inclusion a bit closer. You might want to do so as well, since it appears that anyone can sign up for a TV.com account (I signed up as user BlatantExample in less than three minutes); I almost added a mostly spitballed reference comparing Donna to the Virgin Mary and the Doctor's severed hand being in reality the invisible hand that Adam Smith refers to in The Wealth of Nations. I only didn't because I don't need to vandalize another website to point out its weaknesses here. With respect to U-Mos, we haven't the foggiest as to who added the reference, but I am willing to lay pretty good odds that it wasn't the good folk at BBC - if it had, it would have been a part of the press release, or deserving of a mention in Doctor Who Confidential. As the provenance of the source is debatable, neither it nor the attendant statements can be included. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 21:36, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund

Updated DYK query On 16 July, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Apollo Energy Systems - Electrosport

Finding information about small companies from that era is difficult. The "modern" electronic databases often provide little help. In some cases it is possible to find one or two newspaper or magazine articles. Sometimes obscure sources may provide insight (such as the Caltech interview of Victor Wouk[1] that has some history about other battery companies during that period) or an enthusiast's page, such about the Sonotone Company[2]. I don't have information about Apollo Energy Systems. The Electrosport had a printed sales brochures and Motor Trend did an article about the car, but finding anything about the Electric Fuel Propulsion Corporation itself has not been fruitful so far. Nevertheless, I will contribute to the Apollo Energy article whenever I run across something their origins! — CZmarlin (talk) 05:23, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfC for Tucker Max

hello. since the 3o has been removed due to the RfC (on article Tucker Max), would you mind providing a comment? The reason I ask is because the RfC actually links to the wrong discussion, which could create confusion. i attempted to resolve the bad RfC link problem, but couldn't, and so that is why I created the 3o instead. now that the 3o is gone, i am worried that we will not get enough outside opinions. so would you mind taking a minute and commenting on RfC2? thanks Theserialcomma (talk) 23:01, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for the help cleaning up the RfC link (to make it actually work) and the outside comment on the discussion page. my next question is, do you suggest that i create another RfC? the reason i ask is because my original RfC was about whether the anonymous blog should be a source, and after multiple outside editors came and said that it shouldn't be, the source was simply moved to an external link by the same editor who removed my RfC. i felt that if the RfC stayed up, outside editors could have clarified that this link should not be considered encyclopedic. but now, since the RfC is gone, when i try to remove the link from the article, my edit is reverted as 'vandalism.' should i start another RfC, the same as before, except now change the word "source" to "external link" so that i am not accused of vandalism? or any other advice? thanks. Jersey City External Link - JCTransit.com

I read the terms and while I understand the potential of conflict of interest which you noted, JCTransit.com is a free website which fills a large gap of missing public transportation info for jersey city residents. The site is a free directory which offers unique info and tools to aide residents in navigating jersey city's fragmented transit system. I think that if you were to check out the site you would instantly see the value it offers to jersey city residents and it would validate its inclusion in the jersey city wiki links section. thanks. -Ken Burke —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kjburke1 (talkcontribs) 22:35, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can be used to revert vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you no longer want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Happy editing! WikiProject NJ work

I have been working on cleaning up the WP:NJ pages a bit. I added a section to the templates page to include the Eduction by County templates you made. I have left space for all of the counties, but wondered if you had any intention to make the rest of the templates? Also, as the founder of WPNJ, I would like to hear your opinion on the proposed new layout I have made at User:JimMillerJr/Sandbox/WPNJ redesign. Thanks. Jim Miller See me | Touch me 00:57, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you for all of your recent New Jersey-Related work, especially on WP:NJ, which has been unfortunately largely dormant as a project. In the midst of all of my other efforts, I will be completing education by county templates. I have reviewed your redesign and it's a major step forward, especially in adding the statistics box as a summary. It really shows that we have a tremendous amount of articles, but need a bit more depth. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and I remind you that my status of founder of WPNJ grants me no special standing on these changes. Keep up the work! WPNJ assessments

I saw your assessment of Wyckoff, New Jersey, and "start" seems a tad low. What guidelines are you using as part of these assessments. I'd like to improve these articles and we should have some benchmarks with links to sample Stub/Start/C/B/GA/A/FA articles for the benefit of all those editing and assessing articles. Alansohn (talk) 21:23, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alan, I agree. A little farther up my talk page is a conversation I had with User:ChrisRuvolo about this recently. Since Wycoff had no history section, no photographs, and only a few expansions beyond the automated information (schools was a good section) I rated it as Start. I have done all the unassessed towns Starting with A and B this way, and was just looking at the end of the last unassessed bot log when I looked at this one. You may also see that MelonBot is going through all of our templates making changes. I asked HappyMelon to update our project banner to the WPBannerMeta standard. WikiProject New Jersey is going to be the primary banner, and Project New Jersey and WPNJ will be redirects. Jim Miller See me | Touch me | Review me 21:30, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply. I know we can use a lot of work on some of these articles, but as per ChrisRuvolo's comments above, we should specify what the characteristics are of articles by class so that there is consensus on what editors and assessors should be looking for.
