Attention:

This host, smtp.abc.net.au, is registered to Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and may be shared by multiple users. In the case of organizations using proxy servers or firewalls, this IP address may in fact represent many users at many physical computers.

For this reason, a message intended for one person may be received by another and a block shared by many. If you are editing from this address and are frustrated by irrelevant messages, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. In some cases, you may temporarily be unable to create an account due to efforts to fight vandalism, in which case, please see here.

If you are autoblocked repeatedly, we encourage you to contact your Internet service provider or IT department and ask them to contact Wikimedia's XFF project about enabling X-Forwarded-For HTTP headers on their proxy servers so that our editing blocks will affect only the intended user. Alternatively, you can list the IP at Wikipedia:WikiProject on XFFs.

Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking - if a block is needed, administrators should consider using a soft block with the template optional comment as the block reason.

Note: In the event of vandalism from this address, abuse reports may be sent to your network administrator for further investigation.
IT staff who want to monitor vandalism from this IP address can subscribe to a web feed of this page in either RSS or Atom format.

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Wikipedia. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Hi, thanks for your contribution here. I know you worked hard on it and it looks good, but it really isn't suitable material for an encyclopaedia. See this policy for some guidance on what Wikipedia is not. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 10:48, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

Welcome and reminder to individual posters from the ABC (hi folks!) - create an account - why not?

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

You are welcome to continue editing articles without logging in, but you may wish to create an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits. If you edit without a username, your IP address (203.2.218.145) is used to identify you instead.

In any case, I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place helpme before the question on this page. Again, welcome! Time coding changes

Please be aware that the format of dates for articles is effected and governed by a number of things. Overall, the user preference settings for registered users determines how wikilinked dates are displayed on your computer. If you object to the presentation, please register an account and set your user preferences. Secondly, there is no provision for arbitrarily changing date formats (March 3 vs 3 March). Wikipedia policy does state that for unlinked dates, the style should reflect the form used in the country to which the article's subject is most closely linked. Therefore, changing the date format for Jim Morrison from a December 8 to a 8 December is against policy. Again, if you prefer the presentation to be similar to what you use, register an account. Thank you. Wildhartlivie (talk) 11:15, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

June 2008

Please don't change the format of dates, as you did to Jim Morrison. While most British people and many people internationally write dates in day-month-year order, e.g., 12 December 1904, most Americans use month-day-year order, e.g., December 12, 1904. If the article is about an American topic, use month-day-year.

Dates are usually enclosed in two square brackets, as in 12 December or December 12. This means that you can set your preferences (if you look around your screen you'll see the words my preferences; click on it and follow the instructions) to ensure that you see all dates in the format you want, whether date-month-year, month-date-year or yyyy-mm-dd. The general rules on how Wikipedia articles are written can be seen in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Rules specific to dates and numbers can be seen in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers). Specific rules governing changes of dates are found Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Full date formatting. This is the third time in five days you have made this change and it is unacceptable. The next time it is done, you will be reported for vandalism and could be blocked from editing. July 2008

Please don't change the format of dates, as you did to Jim Morrison. Most British people and many people internationally write dates in day-month-year order, e.g., 12 December 1904. Most Americans use month-day-year order, e.g., December 12, 1904. If the article is about an American topic, use month-day-year. If it is a British or European topic, use day-month-year. If neither, leave it as originally written. Many Americans or British people take offence if an article about their country, written in their local version of English, is changed around to a version they don't use. So please do not do that.

Dates are usually enclosed in two square brackets, as in 12 December or December 12. This means that you can set your preferences (if you look around your screen you'll see the word preferences; click on it and follow the instructions) to ensure that you see all dates in the format you want, whether date-month-year, month-date-year or yyyy-mm-dd. The general rules on how Wikipedia articles are written can be seen in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Rules specific to dates and numbers can be seen in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers).

If you have any questions about this, ask me on my talk page, or place helpme on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Enjoy your time on the web's fastest growing encyclopædia (or encyclopedia, if you write it that way!). Thank you. This is the third time you have been asked to stop changing the date format in this article. If the article is about an American topic, use month-day-year. If you don't like the display of the linked date you are seeing, then register your account and set your preferences to autoformatting. It will display in the way you are used to after that. If you change this again, I will follow up with a vandalism report and you may be blocked from further editing. Wildhartlivie (talk) 09:54, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is the only warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
If you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did to Jim Morrison, you will be blocked from editing. This is the 5th warning you have received since June 16, and is now the final warning for you to stop changing the date formatting in this article. If you don't like how the date in this article is displayed, then register an account and set your preferences. You are accomplishing nothing by this persistent reformatting and are disrupting the page when you do so. This is an article about an American music artist and therefore, the dating and spelling is American. Your account will be blocked for vandalism if this does not stop. November 2008

In a recent edit to the page Jim Morrison, you changed one or more words from one international variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For subjects exclusively related to Britain (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to other English-speaking countries, such as Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, use the appropriate variety of English used there. If it is an international topic, use the same form of English the original author used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to the other, even if you don't normally use the version the article is written in. Respect other people's versions of English. They in turn should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. If you have any queries about all this, you can ask me on my talk page or you can visit the help desk. Thank you. You have been told repeatedly to stop changing the date formatting in this article. Henceforth, each occurrence will be considered vandalism and will proceed from that assumption. It is inappropriate for you to impose the format of dating that is used in Australia on an article about an American singer. Desist from your vandalism. Wildhartlivie (talk) 08:12, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
Again, articles on American subjects use American date formatting. Stop changing it. faithless (speak) 02:38, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Jim Morrison. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. As noted above, your continued insistence on changing the dating format on this article will be considered vandalism since you are willing and knowingly converting the American style dating format to one not employed in Morrison's country of birth and residence. This is unacceptable and must stop or further action will be taken. Wildhartlivie (talk) 01:33, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
