Sonny Munroe enters the set, excited and not knowing that she is off for a difficult time with Tawni Hart. When Sonny changes Tawni's Queen Bee sketch, Tawni becomes jealous and it doesn't help when Sonny has to share a dressing room with her. Sonny tells her mother about it and her mom advises Sonny to talk to Tawni. Things get worse when Sonny tries to help when Tawni accidentally stabs herself and shreds Tawni's favorite stuffed animal. Then, when Tawni talks to Marshall, Sonny decides she doesn't care what Tawni thinks anymore and makes the One Bad Bee sketch to get back at her. So Random! sketches:

Sonny meets Chad Dylan Cooper, the star of the hit tween drama MacKenzie Falls and is starstruck until she realizes that "MacKenzie Falls" and So Random! are rivals and moved the golf cart without realizing that So Random! nicked MacKenzie Falls parking space. In an attempt to promote goodwill between them, Sonny invites the cast from MacKenzie Falls to a so-called peace picnic. But the event doesn't go exactly as planned as the cast from MacKenzie Falls put glue on their chairs, throw egg salad in Sonny's face, took a picture of Gradys pants, put them on the internet and take back their Tween Choice Award Cup. Sonny goes over to MacKenzie Falls and talks to Chad about what the cast of So Random! wanted to do. When the cast finds Sonny in her dressing room, she tells the cast of So Random! that they will challenge them to musical chairs competition. Sonny tells Chad that there will be a musical chair competition. It comes down to Chad and Sonny. The music stops and Sonny falls. She says she thinks she may have broken her ankle, so Chad forgets all about the game and tries to help her up. Sonny then pulls him to the ground and sits in the last chair, saying "peace out suckas!", therefore winning the game. Chad is impressed as he realizes she can act and invites her onto his show. He said that perhaps there would be a spot for her on MacKenzie Falls after Portlyn disappears in a mysterious "ballooning accident". Portlyn comically sobs and walks out of the room. But Sonny stays at So Random! because it's her home. Chad then proclaims on "Mackenzie Falls" that "So Random" is his favorite show as payment.

The cast members of So Random! get jealous when they're served bad cafeteria food while MacKenzie Falls cast members are dining on lobster and steak because MacKenzie Falls is the lunch lady's favorite show. After hearing how So Random! has become more popular with Sonny as a cast member, Chad devises a plan to steal Sonny from them to become popular. Things take a turn for the worse when Sonny gets her sketch rejected by her castmates, and turns over to MacKenzie Falls for comfort and support. In order to get Sonny back, the So Random! cast dresses up as characters that they rejected and Sonny joins the So Random! cast again.

When Tawni tries to bug Sonny about not getting any fan mail, Sonny pretends she doesn't care. Sick of Tawni's bragging, Sonny writes herself her own fan letter using the name "Eric." But when Marshall invites Eric to meet Sonny, Sonny has to pretend to be him to hide her lie. Sonny dresses up as Eric, with a fake beard, a hoodie, and two broken arms. Tawni pulls "Eric" into her dressing room. Right then, Josh, the mail man, walks in and hands Tawni some of Sonny's fanmail. Tawni stuffs it under her seat cushion, and it turns out she had been hiding fanmail from Sonny all along which was committing the act of Mail Fraud. Sonny gets upset and pulls off her disguise. Tawni finds out that Sonny is pretending to be her own fan, and suggests to Marshall that Sonny should meet Eric on stage after the So Random! shooting in front of a live audience. Chad also finds out that Sonny is 'Weird Beard' (Chad and Josh's nickname for Eric) and decides to help Sonny out by dressing up as Eric, showing that he cares about her. Meanwhile, Nico and Grady try and intercept a package meant for Zora- but she manages to get the last laugh- and Chad follows around the mail guy to train for a movie in which he plays a delivery boy.

Sonny and Tawni are working on a new sketch called the "Check It Out Girls", which they're very excited about. But Sonny's mother, Connie, finds out about her "D" in geometry, so Sonny has to pass a major test to prove that she can pull her grade up. Tawni told Sonny to cheat but she refused so she recruits Zora to help her, but is too preoccupied on the "Check It Out Girls" to pay attention. Zora gives up and Sonny ends up writing the answers on her hand, but when she is about to take the test, she confesses. Marshall then bans Sonny and Tawni from the Check-It-Out girls sketch (because Sonny almost cheated and Tawni told Sonny to cheat) until they retake and pass the test without cheating. Meanwhile, Nico and Grady buy a snake to impress a pretty girl on the set, but chaos abounds when the snake escapes on the set.

Sonny's best friend Lucy visits from Wisconsin but when Tawni tags along with them, Lucy enjoys Tawni more and Sonny gets jealous. Lucy wants to go to Chad's birthday party, but Sonny lies and says she was not invited. Tawni turns up to Sonny's apartment to take them both to the party, therefore telling Lucy the truth. Sonny tries to get into to Chad's birthday, but because she said 'no' to her invitation she is not allowed in. She sneaks in anyway and ends up being chased by security guards. She eventually manages to apologize to Lucy in front of everyone and ends up ruining Chad's birthday. Meanwhile Nico and Grady devise a plan to get revenge on the security guard who keeps stealing the pizza, and he ends up in the hospital.

Gossip blogger Sharona, targets Sonny and Tawni, but when Sharona keeps on saying bad stuff about Tawni, Sonny tries to tell Sharona to stop blogging about Tawni. After Sharona keeps blogging about Tawni, Sonny makes a sketch to make fun of Sharona. Sharona sees the sketch and threatens them with meat so they won't come to the "Oh No You Didn't" Awards. The cast goes anyway to get revenge. They wear the same clothes as Sharona, making her so mad that she falls into a pond. Meanwhile, Nico and Grady try to persuade Chad to drive them to the awards ceremony in his new car by bribing him. Chad takes the bribes and leaves them without a ride and alone to fight. After, he says no to both of them, angry, Nico and Grady take the battery out of Chad's car and replaces it with a plate of donuts.

When Sonny is interviewed by "Tween Weekly TV," Chad immediately steps in to focus the publicity on himself. When Sonny realizes this, she gets really angry with Chad and the cameras witness the interaction, making everyone hate her. Sonny sees herself getting angry with Chad on TV and decides to talk to him and clear her name. But Chad refuses to help Sonny's reputation so she fights fire with fire and catches Chad being a jerk on a hidden camera in her hat. Impressed, Chad gives Sonny 'props' and says they should hang out sometime, and Sonny says he can stop acting since the camera is off. Chad says he knows, implying that he likes her. Sonny smiles at him, causing Chad to smile back. Meanwhile, Nico and Grady sort through Tawni's trash to sell it online, but are caught and punished by Tawni by having to be her slaves.

Sonny is asked out by Tawni's ex-boyfriend James Conroy and guest star on MacKenzie Falls. Tawni doesn't want Sonny to date James because her "best friend" once dated James, who dumped her and left her so heartbroken, she wore polyester pants. Tawni tells Chad to get James to back off of Sonny. Chad claims not to care but Tawni can see that he also wants James to back off. Despite Tawni's warning, Sonny is taken in by James' charm and goes to the arcade with him. They enjoy the date until Tawni and Chad both show up and the night turns awkward. Sonny drags Tawni to the air hockey table where they argue about James and Sonny realizes that Tawni was the one who used to date him. When James says "She's so cute when she's angry!" Chad thinks that he's talking about Sonny and reveals that he thinks she's always cute, but James says he was talking about Tawni. The next day, Sonny receives flowers from James, but realizes that they are actually for Tawni. Sonny and Tawni cook up a plan to dump him. Tawni and James go on a date and Sonny and Chad pretend to be on a date too. While pretending to be a couple, Sonny and Chad start to show signs of actually liking each other, but they try to cover their slips. James starts to want Sonny again when Tawni was acting a bit strange, but Nico and Grady show up and accuse Sonny of falling for the enemy. When James hears them talk about a fake date and starts to catch onto the plan, Sonny puts her hand over Chad's mouth and pretends to kiss him in order to convince James. Tawni and Sonny both dump James and he leaves. Chad confronts Sonny about the kiss and she tells him it was a fake, but Chad says that he'll claim it was real on his blog. Meanwhile, Nico and Grady have been caught by Murphy for slurping frozen yogurt directly from the nozzle in the cafeteria. Zora plans to help them by pretending to be their lawyer, but ends up convincing Murphy to give them community service. While Nico and Grady are at the arcade, they see a slushie machine and decide to eat that instead of the yogurt. However, when they see Sonny and Chad, they are distracted long enough that, when they get back to the machine, it is out of order. [3] So Random! sketch:

Sonny gives a tour to a under-privileged girl named Dakota. She claims she is from the Children Having A Dream Foundation. Zora points out in the beginning that Dakota was evil and turned out to be right. The little girl turns out to be the daughter of Mr. Condor and the Children Having A Dream Foundation really stands for 'CHAD'. They have to keep her happy or her dad could fire everyone in the studio. Dakota demands to see Chad, but Chad won't do it unless he can go to "The Basement," a fake club Tawni, Nico and Grady created. Sonny took Dakota and Tawni took Chad to "The Basement". Sonny introduces Dakota to Chad and he decided to hang out with her but due to her annoying behavior, he ends up yelling at her. When Mr. Condor shows up, he gets mad at Sonny for bringing Dakota to a Hollywood club and Chad for yelling at her. Sonny and Chad back up and breaks down the club and everyone in the club finds out it's fake. Sonny and Chad work it out with Mr. Condor and then everything was okay. At the end, Chad and Dakota are wearing the "MacKenzie Falls" blue robe.

After Sonny is upset about missing her prom in Wisconsin, she asks Marshall if she can have a prom for all the shows on the lot on the So Random! set. After he refuses, they send him on a wild goose chase with his GPS and throw the prom in secret. Sonny uninvites Chad because he says the idea of a prom is dumb. Meanwhile, to prepare for their prom, Nico teaches Grady how to slow dance, and Tawni wants to be prom queen. Unfortunately, at the actual prom, Sonny is too busy running around to actually enjoy it. When Marshall finds out that Zora has been the voice on his GPS because of Nico, he tells her that he's going back. Zora tells Sonny that Marshall was coming and the So Random! cast cleans everything up. When Marshall gets there (everything is cleaned up) he sees the cast practicing for the supposed Prom Sketch. Marshall changes his mind and says that they can have a real prom. Sonny gets upset that she missed the prom she created. Chad waits behind for Sonny and comes out and asks her to dance with him, which she thinks is sweet. They even share a special moment. Sonny enjoys the dance with Chad.

When Sonny sees that Marshall and Ms. Bitterman are both lonely, she arranges a date for them. However, Ms. Bitterman gets too involved with the show So Random!, changing Grady's "Scotland's Top Model" sketch and coming up with sketches that aren't funny. Ms. Bitterman writes a sketch about Sonny having to eat real worms and she realizes that it was a huge mistake to bring Marhall and Bitterman together. Sonny asks Chad for help, but Chad says he will only do it if she goes to "Lookout Mountain," with him and without a choice, Sonny and Chad go to Lookout Mountain. This is one of the first episodes where you can see Sonny and Chad's feelings for each other. Just when they are getting closer, Bigfoot (Nico & Grady) jumps out and scares them, and Sonny is so scared, she holds hands with Chad. In the end, with Nico, Grady and Chad's help, they use material from Episode 319 of MacKenzie Falls called "Bigfoot Gets the Girl" to try and break them up. Much to their dismay, it just brings Marshall and Ms. Bitterman closer. Ms. Bitterman beats up "Bigfoot" to protect Marshall. At the end, she finds out that she beat up Nico and Grady and shows the two about her in 12 Angry Men.

Chad is filming a movie about his life: The Chad Dylan Cooper Story. Chad decides to have the real So Random! cast to play their parts except for Sonny because he thinks she has diva personality and is difficult to work with. So, he decides to hire Selena Gomez to play the part instead. Selena sees that Chad and Sonny like each other, but when they both deny it, she uses reverse psychology to get them to admit that they do. Sonny admits she thinks Chad has sparkly eyes and Chad admits he thinks Sonny has pretty hair. In the end, Selena leaves with anger, saying that they are perfect for each other and she doesn't have to do Chad's movie because she was in Camp Hip Hop (A parody of Camp Rock). Chad then gives Sonny the part. When the movie premieres, they choose to watch "Camp Hip Hop" instead, complete with fake Jonas Brothers and their bodyguard, Big Rob. Chad is the host of a new prank show and Sonny fears she is his next target when Chad arranges a movie audition for her that happens to be for the role of Sonny's favorite superhero "Fashionita". Sonny pulls a prank on the casting director before Grady can warn her that the audition is real. Sonny feels embarrassed and apologizes to Chad and forgives her. When Tawni wants to audition for Fashonita, she talks to Chad and bribes him. Chad calls the directer but when Tawni listens to it, Nico and Grady thinks Tawni is the co-host with Chad so the two sets a prank for Tawni. When Nico and Grady accidentally traps themselves in a net, they told Sonny that Tawni is the co-host with Chad and thinks Sonny is with them because she didn't say anything. Sonny calls Chad and tells him to stop, but realizes it's too late when Chad explains that he set up a prank audition for Tawni for the same role. When Chad runs in to witness the aftermath of his prank, things didn't work the way he planed. Zora shows up to tell Chad that he was being prank'd and that she was actually the host of Celebrity Practical Joke'd and prank'd Chad into thinking he was the host. That was not the end of the prank though. She also glued his feet to the floor, put elephant manure in his convertible, and glued his face to the window. At the end, Tawni and Gassie were rehearsing but Gassie messes up and Tawni gets upset.

The "So Random!" cast attempt to prevent their prop house from being taken away and used as a meditation room for the "MacKenzie Falls" cast. The number one show gets any room in the building according to the contract. After remembering all the good memories about sketches they have done (like Dolphin Boy and the Check It Out Girls), they hand-cuff themselves to the prop house. After two hours of being hand-cuffed they decide to fight back. They chase away the cast of "MacKenzie Falls" by cutting a hole in the ceiling and annoying them by throwing objects on their heads. Chad says he won't be driven away, but he starts meditating in the photo booth, he runs away because of a rat. The So Random cast get their prop house back. Chad comes back and brings gifts to everyone in order to say he is sorry and didn't know how much the prop house meant to them. He gives Tawni a Bedazzled lipstick case, Zora a night light for the sarcophagus, lets Nico and Grady ride the forklift, and lastly gives an autograph picture of himself to Sonny that says "To my biggest fan, I'm sorry, TV's Chad Dylan Cooper." Then Sonny says she is touched. Then, Nico and Grady bursts in while riding the forklift. So Random! sketches:

Sonny tries to help Tawni have a good date with an intern Hayden (Robert Adamson). Sonny begs Chad for his Lakers tickets. But when she and Hayden are shown on the kiss cam they are forced to kiss and Tawni sees them. Tawni gets mad and hides in her dressing room, locking the two doors. Meanwhile, Chad gets jealous because he sees the kiss on Tween Weekly Magazine. Sonny makes another date and tells Hayden that Tawni is going to cook for him because he likes girls who can cook. But when Sonny learns that Tawni can't cook, Sonny offers to have the date at her place and to cook the food. After Sonny ruins the food, she tries to call Nico and Grady to bring food but she drops her phone in the sink by mistake. Tawni tries to help her by turning on the light but she turned on the garbage disposal instead and it somehow calls Chad. Chad thinks that Sonny is in trouble and later breaks down her door. When everyone shows up at Sonny's apartment, the night turns awkward. Meanwhile, Grady and Nico try to put their influence on the name of a sandwich but everyone that eats the sandwich doesn't want it. Later, they leave the sandwiches out in the sun for 12 hours, and then Tawni, Hayden, Nico, Grady, and Chad eat the sandwich and end up upchucking. Sonny gets flowers and assumes they're from Nico and Grady, but they're from Chad. So Sonny gives Nico and Grady a video game chair for their birthday. Right after she gives this gift, Nico and Grady start fighting over it, because only one person can sit in the chair at a time. Nico and Grady both get so mad that they declare that they are "Not friends anymore," and both try to hang out with Sonny instead. Sonny gets annoyed with them not being friends and trying to replace each other with her, by doing such activities as ordering sandwiches under names of Smelma Pitts and Pat Myhiney. Sonny finally decides to make them miss each other by taking them to movies that they don't want to see (Grady to Five Weddings and a Wedding, and Nico to Sisterhood of the Secret Princesses) instead of Monkey Cars 3D. During their movies, they each realize that they miss each other, and make up and go to Monkey Cars 3D. Chad says he's the "Coop Man" and he and Sonny have a moment. Marshall gets Chad Dylan Cooper to guest star on So Random!. Sonny has to do a sketch with him where they will kiss (much to her dismay). Chad then teases her all day saying she is going to fall in love with him when they look into each others eyes during the sketch. Though the thought is just a joke to Chad, Sonny is worried that it will happen, and tries everything she can to make sure she doesn't look into Chad's eyes. In the end, they do the sketch and look into each others eyes. However, just when they are about to kiss, a pig accidentally lands in Sonny's hands and she lets the pig kiss Chad. Meanwhile, Nico and Grady give their permission for Chad to use their dressing room in return for control of Marshall's office for the day. Everyone starts to hang out with Mandy, and Sonny feels like she is being replaced. When she walks through the studio, she accidently bumps into Chad. Sonny tells Chad she feels like Mandy is trying to replace her, and Chad tries to convince Sonny that no one could ever replace her. They almost kiss, but Tawni walks in.
