Hello~ I'm a new one to use Wiki. Therefore I don't know much things on Wiki. I just wrote an article about a firm. I don't put an ad or promote it. I just get some information about its website and want to write something about its company to practice on Wiki. I'm sorry to bother you to delete my page. I just want to know which aspect is wrong so that i can fix it next tome.K90113003 (talk) 13:58, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

10 August 2010: About the deletion of the Solita Oy page. Can I kindly request the restoration of the page? I disagree with you that it is/was advertising or promotion. Instead, it was only factual. Yes, the page was not that long but the main motivation for adding a page was not to promote the company but instead add the explanation for the term 'Solita'. Yes, it is a town in Colombia, yes it is used as a way to refer to women, but it is also a company of notable size and respect in Finland. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ivar solita (talkcontribs) 06:06, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Which two

Which two members of Sector 27 have srticles? Polargeo (talk) 11:38, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

See the blue links, unless you can show they are the wrong members. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:40, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Only one of the blue links is to a member of the band. Polargeo (talk) 11:40, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You had better de link the other one, but one notable member is enough to avoid a speedy delete, and go for a prod instead. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:43, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No disagreemnt with you about not speedy deleting, I just wanted to know who else in the band was notable before considering whether this should be an AfD or not. I think I will just notability tag it and watchlist it for a few days first. Polargeo (talk) 11:46, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So no prod? Any way there is plenty more for me to delete at this point (or not delete) Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:48, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I was just trying to find out if you actually knew something about the notability. Anyway prods are for uncontroversial cases where there is likely to be little complaint by the majority of wikipedians, not for testing the water before an AfD or to slip things under the radar. Although I know this is how most people seem to use them. Polargeo (talk) 11:56, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I seldom know anything about the bands, so I just look for any suggestion that they may meet something in WP:Music / WP:Band. Prod is a lazy way, that is why I do them far more. You can see I have started very very few AFD's myself! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:00, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Great to meet

Hi Graeme, Great to catchup and chat with you today at the RCC Canberra. Thanks very much for coming along and your contributions. Sincerely, James. -- Jtneill - Talk 09:42, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Very kind of you.

Thank you. That was very kind of you. I am sorry ... there is so much to learn about how this site runs that I am lost half the time. --Triton Rocker (talk) 02:22, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lrrreconcilable Ndndifferences

OH COME ON, if you delete Lrrreconcilable Ndndifferences, delete all of the other unaired Futurama season 6 episode articles. --Chinneebmy talk 09:08, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hajvery University

Good morning Graeme, I'd like to ask a favour - could you remove the creation protection from Hajvery University, so I can move Hajvery University, Lahore to that spot, as there seem to be no other institutions with this name. The article has quite an amusing history, with several copyvio deletions in August-September 2008, followed by an "AFC submission"/"How-to-guide" which you declined. About a week after that, someone decided to try again with a slightly different title, which I came across this morning - cover your eyes if you are easily upset :P. I have gone through and removed just about as much copyvio and unsourced material as possible and added a couple of references outside of the college website. The only problem is that I think the article should be located at Hajvery University but that requires admin-powers. Green Giant (talk) 07:41, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for doing that :). When I tried moving the article, I got a message that said it was something only admins could do etc. Green Giant (talk) 08:09, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Actually you are right, it was create protected back in 2008. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:16, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Template Blp talk header

{{Blp talkheader}} is used by articles. Can you shed light on why it's been deleted? Was there a discussion deprecating this template and recommending a different one? Thanks. PL290 (talk) 14:03, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Seems bizarre that an in-use template can be deleted. Is there no "what links here" check before deleting a template? Where could I suggest/discuss that procedure? Anyway, I've now done an AWB run to fix all the pages that used it. PL290 (talk) 08:54, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

on deletion of K3RN3L

Dear Graeme Bartlett, I would like to have a serious explanation from you out of which reasons you've deleted the page about the theater group K3RN3L? I would like to know under whose authority you have done so; and I would like to know the exact technical, semantic or any other detail for your act? Feel free to explore our web page http://www.mmrkernel.com Cordially Srecko Borse —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sborse (talkcontribs) 14:15, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize if this comes off harsh, but your rational for removing the speedy deletion doesn't make any sense to me. First, why would we just accept someone's word that they are the owner of a copyrighted document, especially when the document is the property of an organization, not an individual? Second, even if the person were the owner, by WP:COPYVIO, we still can't put it on Wikipedia without it being CC-BY-SA, in public domain, or being explicitly donated. So it seems to me that unless/until we get the words donated, this has to be deleted/blanked. Is there some way I'm misinterpreting policy? I'll watch this page so you can reply here. Qwyrxian (talk) 12:20, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The speedy delete is for unequivocal cases. In this case there was a clear claim to own the copyright. This claim was quite beleivable. And cc-by-sa-3.0 was granted. Article was called The European Society for History of Law‎. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 13:07, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Are all inventors by default notable, even when the supposed invention isn't even explicable? And where are the reliable sources, or any sources, for that matter? Everard Proudfoot (talk) 16:54, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Manny Machado

Why did the page get deleted? There are many reliable references from reliable sources in the article and I am sure the article was improved from when it was created two months ago. He meets WP:GNG. There are other players in the 2009 MLB Draft and the 2010 MLB Draft that have pages with less info and/or less reliable sources and they are in the same situation as Machado and those pages are still around. Thanks for reading this. ¿Ice? (talk) 18:26, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion review for Manny Machado

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Manny Machado. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review.

Hello, I see that you restored this. Has it gone to deletion review? If so, that tag should be placed on his article so editors can comment on the review. ----moreno oso (talk) 16:18, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I noticed you declined the speedy tag for The European Society for History of Law, citing that the same author probably contributed the original and Wikipedia text. I nominated it for deletion because there was no indication that the text was licensed suitably for use on Wikipedia (cc-by-sa-3.0 or equivalent), so I believe that you are in error in removing the speedy tag (unless you know of some permission the author granted that I don't know of). Instead of restoring the tag, I plan to list it for AfD for the same reason (lack of copyright info). RJaguar3 | u | t 21:44, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Graeme Bartlett! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot notifying you on behalf of the the unreferenced biographies team that 1 of the articles that you created is currently tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 672 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Could you tell me why you deleted this page? I don't see it in the deletion log and we have OTRS permission for it if copyright was the only issue. If there was more, could you add something to the log so I can show them what the problems are?

A last request

Thank you Graeme Bartlett, for paying attention to my request and set aside time to answer. For start, I sincerely doubt that I will become an administrator, with those who want the same, chances for me are horribly low, and I fully realize that we all make mistakes and sometimes I make a mistake because I do not pay attention, but the file that I put there in the my request, there I have more than 15 mistakes and it was happened when I was just logged on Wikipedia, and I did not know how was editing worked then. I really do not want to be there, because when someone wanted to see the history of that file and see that it was filled with all my mistakes, and because of that I really would like it to be deleted, and on the other hand, it is the history of uploaded file, not the actual article, so is possible with no problems to be deleted (this is View history of file I want to be deleted). Then in my Upload log page I do not really wanted to be deleted everything, I wanted only one file, and it's File:Clash2010Soundtrack.jpg, because it is the first file that I sent and that there is no previous version that was sent by someone else. There are actually two that file because I thought that maybe if I send the file back, the first will disappear, but I was fooled, and I only want to that two files be erased completely. Sorry that I have so much stretch but since you told me that if I want to delete to tell you, and after all I want to be deleted, I really want if that's not a problem to you. Thank you again for everything. Corey.7.11.1992 14:50, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at the talkpage you will see that it wasn't just copy off one page of the website, but the whole text is copied from various pages on the persons website. I realise that for small section of copyvio you just remove it but there doesn't appear to be anything salvageable in this (and I have checked the article history for earlier versions). Quantpole (talk) 12:01, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bump. Just in case you didn't notice this. (If you can't remember you declined a copyvio speedy, but the rest of the article is still a copy). Quantpole (talk) 07:39, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have remove more of the dubious paragraphs, do you want to check if the paragraph on Australia is a problem too? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:08, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I've removed a bit more. To be honest I was thinking of taking this to AfD anyway on notability grounds, but then noticed that pretty much all of the text seemed to be a copy, hence the speedy tag. Quantpole (talk) 16:19, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Move conflicts

First at 5-4-3_rule and then at Oh, Brother! you and I seem to be stepping on one another's toes rather a lot. JamesBWatson (talk) 12:29, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey I did not notice the 5-4-3 rule! This sort of double move happens more than it should. Perhaps we need a "closing" option or button to prevent a double delete action. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:36, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I have wondered about that. I also wonder if it ever happens and is not noticed. Must do sometimes, I guess. JamesBWatson (talk) 18:51, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

hi,

Jonathan Despres is one of the best futurist in the world, the subject has a major impact on society and the future of humanity. This guy is as important as Saul Kent, Keith Henson, Luke Nosek, David Pearce or Natasha Vita-More. As popular and as useful as them. My job would have been to add references to the page. Please let me know if you can add the page again. This is because you don't understand our community, our small society, because you would find Jonathan very important.

"The life of a human in 2200 will be richer than the life of the richest in 2020. That is why I love life." --Jonathan Després

"If you don't think about the future, you cannot have one." --John Golsworthy
