Green Party members in the riding selected Dave Bagler, a local software developer and Sandy Hill Volunteer of the Year on September 23, 2010. Bagler has been an active member of both the Green Party of Canada and Ontario since the 2006 by-election in London North Centre and has set some ambitious goals for the campaign. [6] Visit davebagler.ca for more information.

Matt has initiated fundraising events for Habitat for Humanity and the Bracebridge Food Bank, actively participated on the Climate Action Muskoka Committee, attended meetings with the Sustainable Economic Development Committee, Muskoka Trails Council, and organized an interactive booth at the Parry Sound-Muskoka Family Expo. Matt represented Parry Sound-Muskoka as a candidate in the 2007 Provincial election and is excited to run again in 2011. [7]

A resident of Picton since 2006, Hull spent more than 30 years as a management consultant and, most recently, as a marketing executive in the software industry before retiring in the fall of 2009. Hull joined the Green Party motivated by deep concern about global warming and the environment. "It was clear to me that major change was needed to avoid an environmental disaster and, as a business person, I was impressed with the Green Party's sense of fiscal responsibility and market-driven approach to change" says Hull. "Although some people may be concerned that the GPO is a 'single issue' party, my horizons have been broadened as a result of my association with the Greens, especially in my understanding of the importance of healthy communities and local decision-making." [8]

Simcoe—Grey: Mike Schreiner

Mike Schreiner is the leader of the Green Party of Ontario[9] Professionally, he is a small business advocate, entrepreneur and food policy expert.[10] Schreiner was the party's candidate in the Haliburton—Kawartha Lakes—Brock by-election on March 5, 2009.[11] Mike received over 97% approval from the party membership defeating the None of the Above ballot option, in the 2009 Ontario Green Party leadership election held on November 14, 2009.

Until his nomination as Green Party candidate, he was the chair and long-time board member of the Harbord Village Residents’ Association, a downtown Toronto neighbourhood. Over the years, he led numerous tree-planting activities, including a detailed inventory of the neighbourhood’s 4000 trees. He co-chaired the Downtown West Solar Energy Project that enabled 65 Trinity-Spadina households to add solar panels to their rooftops in 2007-2008. He continues to co-chair Tower Power Toronto, an organization that helps those in over 250 condo and co-op residential buildings green their operations. (He would hasten to add that none of these involvements would have occurred without the active participation of a great many others!)

A former high school teacher, Tim Grant has been the co-editor of Green Teacher magazine for the past 20 years. During this time, he has co-edited six books and given hundreds of presentations around the world on how best to educate young people about the environment. He was a founding member of Energy Educators of Ontario, the Ontario Environment Network, Environmental Education Ontario, and for many years the Vice-Chair of EECOM, the Canadian Network for Environmental Education and Communication.
