The 2012 PDC World Cup of Darts is the second edition of the PDC World Cup of Darts which will take place between February 3 to 5. The Netherlands are the holders after the pair of Raymond van Barneveld and Co Stompé defeated Wales, represented by Mark Webster and Barrie Bates in the final in December 5, 2010.[1]

Format

[2]
The participating teams are the same as the last world cup. 24 countries in the PDC Order of Merit at the end of January 4 after the 2012 PDC World Darts Championship. Each nations top ranked player was then joined by the second highest player of that country. For seeding the average rank of both was used.

The seedings will be the same as the last World Cup. The top 8 nations automatically starting in round 2. with the other 16 nations starting in round 1.

The round 1 matches will be the same as the last world cup. Best of 11 legs in doubles.

The winners of round 1 will play one of the top eight ranked teams in round 2, with the change being that instead of the same format in the last world cup where it was a best of 11 legs doubles match, it will now be like the group stage in the last world cup. Two singles matches and a doubles match with 1 point awarded for a singles win and 2 points awarded for a doubles win. If the match score is 2-2 at the end of the matches, then a sudden-death doubles leg will decide who goes through. The fixtures are like the last world cup, the top ranked player in the country facing the second highest ranked player in the country. The only change in that being the legs increased from 5 to 7.

Another change will see the winners of round 2 qualify for the quarter finals which will replace the group stage. The format will be the same as round 2.

The semi finals format will be the same as the last world cup with the only change being the legs reduced from 11 to 7.

The final will have the same format as the last world cup, with the only change being the legs reduced from 15 to 11.
