Darr @ the Mall is a horror film[2] directed by Ragini MMS fame director Pavan Kirpalani released on 21 February 2014[3][4] The film features Jimmy Shergill[5] and Nushrat Bharucha in the lead roles. The film revolves around Jimmy Shergill who plays the role of a security guard of the mall. The film is presented and produced by Multi Screen Media (MSM) and Contiloe Entertainment.[6][7]

Plot Summary

Asia's largest mall is ready for inauguration, although there's a myth surrounding the mall. Over the period of its construction people have started labelling it as Haunted Mall. The legend has it that the mall is haunted with the presence of a 'chudail'. Some say its a typical white saree white hair ghost, others say it's a woman with overturned feet. The fact is no one has seen the presence. Yet the fear is unquestionable. On the opening eve the owner of the mall, Mr. Manchanda calls a press conference and to dispel the fears announces that he would spend a night at the Mall with the board of directors. The news is flashed around town. Manchanda and his cronies step into the Mall to spend a night and this to Manchanda is a big business strategy. Manchanda and group are not the only ones to be inside the Mall this night. Manchanda’s daughter Ahana & her junky friends make their way inside, as does 24 year old Vishnu, the chief of security at the Mall who has a past that haunts him. Facts come clear only by the end when circumstances throw Vishnu, Manchanda and Ahana together. Their stories connect and lead to a mysterious past.

It gets a bit confusing, till one of the apparitions that keep appearing to Vishnu (Jimmy Shergill) finally force him to flashback to his childhood. The flashback down memory lane reveals cold hard facts. The mall is built over what used to be an orphanage, that burned to the ground two decades ago. Vishnu’s connection to the orphanage is highlighted when the flashback proceeding forth indicates that he was one of the orphans living with the nun and 21 other children at the orphanage. The nun lovingly protecting and looking after them. In the flashback, Vishnu is seen overhearing a conversation between the nun and two gentlemen who are forcing her to sell them the land. To which she refuses. The same night the orphanage is set on fire and burns to the ground killing all the kids and the nun. One child however remains missing to this day. This missing 22nd child is Vishnu. Ahana’s Father’s connection to the myth is revealed during the very same flashback as he is seen along with the Head of Security bribing the nun to sell the land and upon her refusal instigating the arson of the orphanage.

The horrific smokey apparition is the ghost of the nun who kills all those involved in the crime. The ghosts of the dead children play their part in the killings as they simultaneously warn, befuddle and fear the people within the mall killing not only those involved but guiltless people as well. Till Vishnu and Ahana, beg the nun to stop the killings and bring these horrific consequences to an end.
