Tara Platt (born June 18),[2] is an American film, television and voice actress. She has provided voices for dozens of English-language versions of Japanese anime films, television series, and video games.[1] Her notable roles in anime include Temari in Naruto[3] and Reina in Rave Master.[1] In video games, she has voiced Noir in Tales of the Abyss and Mitsuru Kirijo in Persona 3, as well as characters in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Saints Row: The Third, Soulcalibur IV, and League of Legends.[4][5] On screen she has appeared in television shows like Scandal, Hawaii Five-0, Castle and Revenge, as well as the feature film The Call. She also runs a production company, Monkey Kingdom Productions, as well as publishing company, Bug Bot Press, with husband and partner Yuri Lowenthal.[6]

Biography

Platt moved around a lot when she was young, and her family settled in Chelsea, Michigan when she was 14.[1] She studied at Rutgers University and at the London Academy of Theatre, where she received a BFA in theatre arts.[3][7][8] She lived in New York and worked off-Broadway, and later moved to Los Angeles.[1]

She has performed in a number of shows written and directed by John de Lancie. She played Juliet in Romeo and Juliet (with both the Pasadena Civic and the Toyota Youth Shakespeare Series with the Los Angeles Philharmonic);[8] Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream; Katherine in The Taming of the Shrew; and appeared in First Nights: Clara and Robert Schumann at the Walt Disney Concert Hall as Clara Schumann, in a role written for her by de Lancie.

Platt and husband Yuri Lowenthal founded in 2004, Monkey Kingdom Productions, an independent film production company which has produced two feature films including Lowenthal's Tumbling After, and mockumentary Con Artists.[1] Their production company also created, produced and featured them in 4 seasons of award-winning web-series Shelf Life Shelf Life WebSeries, which streamed on YouTube and is currently available as an app on iTunes.[1] Platt and Lowenthal also co-authored a book on voice-over called Voice-Over Voice Actor: What It's Like Behind the Mic. It is available through Bug Bot Press and Emerald Book Company.[1]

Platt and Lowenthal do the voices of many animated characters in the same titles, for example they each play a character in the anime Naruto. Platt does the voice of Temari and Lowenthal does the voice of Sasuke Uchiha. In 2007 and 2008, Lowenthal and Platt lend their voices to Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3: Lowenthal as the main character, Ryoji and Pharos and Platt as Mitsuru Kirijo and Elizabeth. Platt and Lowenthal also did voices for two characters in the Mexican syndicated-cartoon show, El Chavo Animado. Platt does the voice of Patty and Lowenthal does the voice of Nono (Junior in English dub).
