:I certainly don't mind if you're back, '''as long as''' the problems from a few weeks ago don't resume. I think not contacting {{ping|Swarm}} is wise; I know some other editors in your position would have pinged him, saying "It's not a violation because I'm being nice!" as a way of kind of testing the boundaries. I'm glad you didn't do that, that's promising. I'll ping him myself, just so he sees the apology. Please step away from WP if you get stressed out again (well, obviously, best would be not to get stressed out, but...) Anyway, good luck, stay cool, and let me know if you need a second opinion on something. --[[User:Floquenbeam|Floquenbeam]] ([[User talk:Floquenbeam#top|talk]]) 22:13, 26 April 2017 (UTC) |

Mind if I pick your brain for a moment?
Please see the discussion here. (User:Nyttend is unavailable, so he asked me to have a look.) Seems like a pretty clearcut case of violating the interaction ban, to me, but I wanted your input because you were involved in the initial discussion, and I wasn't. I've blocked User:Dennis Bratland for 72 hours accordingly, since it appears he violated the ban last week as well. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:05, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry, I spent too much time just now getting annoyed with someone on another page, and now time's up and I need to leave the computer for a bit. I'll look into it in an hour or two if that's OK. --Floquenbeam (talk) 14:08, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
- Unacceptable. You need to stay at your computer to further maximize people's opportunities to put the boot in. Don't you know how this works? Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 14:10, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
- Agreed. It's not OK in the least. I, for one, am completely lost without your guidance. In fact, I'm so lost I think I'm posting on the Danish-language Commons right now, and I don't even speak Danish.

- @Ser Amantio di Nicolao: Hmmmm.... are you sure you're not misreading his block log? He was blocked a year ago, not a week ago. I guess my main concern is, the revert that you blocked for happened 4 months ago. I'd have probably issued a block if I'd seen it at the time last December, but I don't think I'd have blocked for something that old. I don't necessarily think a block is truly horrible, but I might be biased because I'm just so sick to death of everyone on both sides of that dispute. I think if I was less frustrated by them all, I'd unblock as stale, with a warning/reminder instead, and that's probably what I suggest. The end result is, reporting a 4 month old revert is kind of gamesmanship by Spacecowboy, and it sticks in my craw a little that it worked. Instinctively, that seems wormier behavior than the revert itself. --Floquenbeam (talk) 14:42, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
- I am misreading the block log. Thanks for pointing it out. (That's what I get for trying to do something like this first thing in the morning.) I'll revert the block, thanks. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:47, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help. I think if I hear any more about this business I'm going to start screaming myself.

- Mariners/Nationals World Series. You heard it here first. Sorry tho, it will be Mariners in 7. This does assume that Our Brainless Leader hasn't turned the world into a smoldering radioactive ruin before then. That would be just my luck. --Floquenbeam (talk) 15:54, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
- W. P. Kinsella, I think, has a story premised on that very point...only it's the Cubs who won't be winning the World Series because nuclear war breaks out while they're playing.

Blocking screwiness
Thanks for the recent unblock review. The block didn't expire, it just went away (I forget the expiration time but it was Apr 22). There was some screwiness with the Unblock Ticket Request System -- when I checked the "My account is blocked" item, it came back saying it wasn't; when I checked "IP address is blocked", it came back saying that wasn't. During all that I did some editting tests, and they were all blocked.
I don't need any attention on this, just thought I'd let you know.

- OK, thanks for letting me know. I can't begin to explain all the intricacies of the WP:Autoblock system that appears to have caught you. If it happens again, follow the instructions you see carefully, as it is different than a normal unblock request. But hopefully, it won't happen again and we'll never have to figure it out. --Floquenbeam (talk) 22:25, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
- They recently changed the autoblock system to work by hijacking the blocked editors' cookie settings, so it's now the machine that's blocked regardless of whether the IP itself is blocked or not. My less-than-complimentary thoughts on the legality and ethics of this change can be found here. ‑ Iridescent 22:37, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
- I hesitate to investigate how undoing an autoblock would work in such a situation. I think I'll stick my head in this nice pile of sand over here and hope I never need to know. --Floquenbeam (talk) 22:43, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
- I mean, that conversation has been moribund for nearly two weeks, with no definitive answers to the questions raised. Fobbing, I tells ye. — O Fortuna semper crescis, aut decrescis 08:26, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

Sorry
I edit conflicted and managed to undo your removal of the unblock request here. I just left it as-is; if you think it should still go, please feel free to remove it. Sorry about that! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 22:36, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

Temporary strings around finger
Just so I don't forget.
- User talk:Mananshah15. unblock with conditions per V.
- User talk:Sorenland. don't understand, needs further discussion.
Delete when done. Hopefully tomorrow. --Floquenbeam (talk) 20:18, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
I'm a Noobie so thanks
I read Wikipedia a lot. Its just I rarely if ever edit things because I'm not typically researching something worthy of a post. I am new enough to the editing process that I wasn't sure how to flag something as vandalism. When I have time after work or this coming weekend I'll read through the stuff you sent me. Thanks again. Drakesax (talk) 18:03, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Drakesax: No problem. That's not all required reading! Just look at what seems useful, and ask if you have any questions. Cheers, --Floquenbeam (talk) 22:09, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
Apologising again
Hi,
I am not sure if you remember me, but we came across twice first here, and then here.
There are two reasons why I am contacting you. First, I wanted to let you know, contradicting to my word, I am back to editing wikipedia. I hope it is okay. Second: I want to apologise to user Swarm. But you specifically told me not to contact him, so I cant. I factually respect him, and I feel very guilty about what happened. Would you please let him know about this post? I apologise again to both of you for the trouble I caused in those days. I was in a lot trouble because of my lack of sleep for 5-6 consecutive days. It caused agitation all the time.
I hope you guys dont think of me as a troll, or some vandal. Thanks, and I apologise again. —usernamekiran (talk) 19:41, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
