Unreliable source?

As to a previous dicussion on the page Harry Kane the Wikipedia page for the template Unreliable source? specifically states it should be placed outisde the reference, within the articles text. Please see the section Usage in the link below. Just thought I'd let you know for future reference.

Template:Unreliable source?

Thanks. FYI: @Iggy the Swan:. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:05, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Wasn't aware of that, I will revert it after this edit, I have read the template. Iggy (Swan) 16:10, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Philippe Coutinho

I changed it because he was confirmed as a midfielder. Its nothing to get OMFG WHAT THE F YOU DID about. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Josh0108 (talkcontribs) 16:06, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I beg your pardon? Mattythewhite (talk) 16:08, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Seems as if an editor with a history of this sort thing has just blanked and redirected the page. There is a discussion at another project (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Automobiles#Bandini deletions) after they blanked 17 articles without discussion and then XfD'd categories and templates because they were empty. Eagleash (talk) 18:09, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed a recurring pattern of edits made by someone using this IP range to change the statistics on certain players (mostly on Brighton & Hove Albion players past and present). The user changes the dates to the date of update but in a format which does not conform with WP:MOSDATE (Glenn Murray's for instance used the 'Monday 1st December 2018' format, deviating from the style). I have manually fixed that and posted to the talk page about it. Since the time of post, two more articles on current Brighton players have had the date formatting changed as well which JMHamo reverted both.

It looks like, after the time you blocked the IP address 2a02:c7d:32b7:9e00:688d:2550:75c8:3aea, assuming the same person, they have continued to disrupt Wikipedia by doing the same type of editing before and after the day of the block on 2a02:c7d:32b7:9e00:688d:2550:75c8:3aea. Also, you may remember noticing that a huge amount of edits were made on Lewis Dunk on 19 August 2017, those were also made by the IP addresses from that range.

Cheers, Iggy (talk) 16:38, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've no experience with range blocks, but I'll keep tabs as always. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:40, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Usually, these happen after when the matches have finished and thankfully we have the Lewis Dunk page protected, only for one more week. Hopefully there would be enough watchers out there to deal with the unusual date formatting as soon as this happens. Iggy (talk) 16:57, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like the IP ‎2a02:c7d:32b7:9e00:88d3:498:7d06:72b2 has possibly evaded your block yesterday - I have noticed the disruptive date formatting again - this time on Gaëtan Bong.  Looks like a duck to me. Iggy (Swan) 15:40, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Blocked for block evasion. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:45, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
From the reply made on 2 January 2018, I have taken the range block query to zzuuzz who has performed range blocks in the past from a common vandal who sometimes makes disruptive edits to my talk page recently. Since your latest block, edits to some pages were made by more IPs from the range since 20:15 (UTC) yesterday, resulting in what I think is persistent block evasion.
What I think will happen from this IP range is more of the same with disruptive editing like the Glenn Murray change I've linked earlier this month. Also, with the use of Sussex, East Sussex and West Sussex, I think the links to the latter two should remain as it is for everything later than 1974 judging by this revert to Rag'n'Bone Man with the wl change. These changes could be interpreted as incorrect information with respect to the history of these counties, Sussex split into the East and West varieties which should be used when events in this region happened later than 1974 (such as the events on Rag'n'Bone Man who was born there).

January 2018

Hi, thank you for your warring, I will add a reliable source. Regards. --Fayçal.09 (talk) 23:59, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled

It clearly states on Rafael Marquez profile that he played over 200 games for Barcelona so why have you denied me changing to the accurate amount of games as you’ve left it as 163 which is not close to the actual number of games he’s actually played for the club. Borofan25 (talk) 17:05, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Because the infobox accounts for league figures only. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:08, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WP:LIVESCORES

Hi friend I was just wondering does WP:LIVESCORES also apply to changing player stats during a match? Regards -- 🐇 ChocolateRabbit 17:03, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Technically that applies to snooker, but the same practice should apply to football stats. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:07, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

BDFUTBOL as source for height/birth data

Sorry it took me so long to reply, was cleaning up/adding refs to Javi Gracia's piece :)

From my extensive dealings with BDFUTBOL, i have found out some errors regarding height EVEN for Spanish sportspeople (not that many, but still), so i imagine if they do that in that case the scenario would even be worse for foreign players/managers. In the case of Silva and Carlos Carvalhal no biggies there, as i replaced the said source with reliable Portuguese ones.

In case anything needs reversion because i failed to (in spite of my "bestest" intentions) meet the site's guidelines, please revert me and sorry for any inconvenience. --Quite A Character (talk) 23:25, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tom Nichols

Hi Mattythewhite. It appears you blocked me from editing Wikipedia for c. 3 months for adding Tom Nichols' goal against West Ham United U23s, citing a lack of citation despite the fact that I did cite it with this link. Page history here.

Can you explain why you've done this for me please, as the warning on my page doesn't make any sense. Many thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.195.100.70 (talk) 13:24, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The IP address was blocked for one month, not three, because of a history of unsourced and unconstructive edits. See the talk page history. Mattythewhite (talk) 15:29, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for replying to me. That doesn't explain why I was banned for this edit though. As demonstrated above I did source the new information.

I could have used this as a reference too https://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2017/october/westhamunitedreport/ but it seems that you are not going to admit to getting it wrong, let alone give me an aplology.

Bale's league cup Spurs medal.

For some reason there was no information on Gareth Bale page about him taking part in the 2009 league cup final so I added all the information including the runner up medal in his honours section. It's the only competitive honour he collected at Spurs and I feel it's important bit of information to include in his honours, but PeeJay removed it quoting "being a runner-up is not an honour, the medal is merely a token". I consider this very disrespectful to the players that worked hard to get there and take part in the competition. There are so many player articles with competitive runner up medals, why should Bale's be an acception? Could you please have a look, cheers. Govvy (talk) 12:04, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I would personally agree with the inclusion of runner-up honours, but AFAIK there isn't really definitive consensus either way. I would recommend a discussion at WT:FOOTY, although this subject has been done to death so many times without really getting anywhere. Mattythewhite (talk) 14:37, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
