About Me

I became a wikipedian in December, 2005.

I am a cartographer by trade, and I am always interested in maps - seeing them, creating them, etc. If anyone ever needs assistance in creating or locating a map, simply send me an email via Wiki (or leave a note on the discussion page) and I will be more than willing to help. I currently work as a GIS Manager for an international telecommunications company. In addition, I am also a volunteer GIS Technician for the United Nations Geographic Information Working Group, focusing on editing the Second Administrative Level Boundaries (SALB) for various parts of the world.

I am a "career military" person. I have spent over 19 years serving with the military, including 8 years in the United States Marine Corps and over 11 years in the United States Army (Illinois National Guard). I have deployed with Operation Sharp Edge, Operation Desert Shield/Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Cajun Fury (in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom).

Awards

I received an award of "Best Cartographic Product" for a map at the 1998 Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) Conference in San Francisco, California. I also received an award of 2nd Place at the 2002 MapInfo MapWorld Conference in San Diego, California, and one of my maps was featured as "Map of the Week" for Directions Magazine in April, 2003.
