Thank you very much
The RfC discussion to eliminate portals was closed May 12, with the statement "There exists a strong consensus against deleting or even deprecating portals at this time." This was made possible because you and others came to the rescue. Thank you for speaking up.
By the way, the current issue of the Signpost features an article with interviews about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.
I'd also like to let you know that the Portals WikiProject is working hard to make sure your support of portals was not in vain. Toward that end, we have been working diligently to innovate portals, while building, updating, upgrading, and maintaining them. The project has grown to 80 members so far, and has become a beehive of activity.
Our two main goals at this time are to automate portals (in terms of refreshing, rotating, and selecting content), and to develop a one-page model in order to make obsolete and eliminate most of the 150,000 subpages from the portal namespace by migrating their functions to the portal base pages, using technologies such as selective transclusion. Please feel free to join in on any of the many threads of development at the WikiProject's talk page, or just stop by to see how we are doing. If you have any questions about portals or portal development, that is the best place to ask them.
If you would like to keep abreast of developments on portals, keep in mind that the project's members receive updates on their talk pages. The updates are also posted here, for your convenience.
Again, we can't thank you enough for your support of portals, and we hope to make you proud of your decision. Sincerely, — The Transhumanist 18:08, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

Do you want to handle the reverts and I'll warn the accounts and IPs? -- Mr X ☎️ 11:54, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Mr Xaero: I'm afarid it is not very helpful to warn them in situations like this. We just have to keep on reverting until the page is protected. Shellwood (talk) 11:57, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Shellwood:If we go through the backlog and provide warnings, we might be able to stop some of this mass vandalism Mr X ☎️ 11:58, 1 June 2018 (UTC)

Reverts
@Shellwood you reverted an edit I made on Cantonese. I did not source the information from any website but from my personal knowledge since my relatives originate from China, HongKong — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lcs ylz (talk • contribs) 19:30, 3 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Lcs ylz: We dont build articles here based on personal opinions or experiences, see WP:OR. Please dont make these kind of changes again. Shellwood (talk) 19:39, 3 June 2018 (UTC)
@Shellwood Re: Margaret Sanger. OK, I suppose. It's not a big deal; it's already mentioned in the next graf. I just thought it worthwhile to hoist that info in thumbnail form to the start of the article, because it's one of the major points someone would want to know about her at a glance. I came to the article, for instance, to fact-check that point in particular. Far from being destructive, I thought I was helping the next person like myself to come along and verify that point in haste. 162.221.175.130 (talk) 16:15, 13 June 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.221.175.130 (talk)

Template warnings
Re this. Template warnings serve a useful function, but in this case the issue was a simple one: the user was adding content to the wrong article. When this was pointed out to them, they stopped. Inundating them with several lengthy template messages that accuse them of disruptive editing at best only distracts from the point; at worst it's plain wrong: the user was not vandalising anyting, they were simply editing the wrong article. – Uanfala (talk) 12:25, 30 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Uanfala: No, the user continued the editing after you removed the warnings, but now it seems to have stopped. Shellwood (talk) 12:33, 30 June 2018 (UTC)

Albere Schröder Clarification
I wanted to follow up on the page Albert Schröder. I just want to politely clarify that the article is false and was being done so for the purposes of a University project. Following it being flagged as a hoax I immediately flagged it for speedy deletion as I do not want it to remain on wikipedia. I wanted to thank you for the time you have spent to fact check the work on wikipedia. The thesis I am working on in University has been to document the increase load of false or misleading information that has been created on the web. Over the past few months myself and two undergraduates have been stress-testing information sites of varying reliability in order to gauge how efficient and fast that site’s administrative community is at eliminating and fact checking false information. My apologies for unnecessarily taking up your time however hopefully the results of my research may hopefully, in the future, be applied to better help the curating community in combatting the spread of disinformation online. Infinityplatinum (talk) 5:53, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Infinityplatinum: Please don't repeat this experiment here again. Even though your thoughts may have been sincere Wikipedia does not allow such testing, see WP:HOAX. Shellwood (talk) 10:36, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Infinityplatinum: This was disrupting Wikipedia to illustrate a point and if you do anything like this ever again, I will block you indefinitely. Deliberately putting false information on Wikipedia is vandalism - do not think you are the Frank Abagnale of Wikipedia (and even Frank admits he was stupid and paid the price for his actions). Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:19, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
User:SameAbe
I blocked for 24 hours because they violated WP:3RR. Their unblock request shows they were editing in good faith, if disruptively, so a vandalism block is not appropriate. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:16, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Ritchie333: I hear what you say, but the content is still there. Labeling the band as "a white colonialist one" solely on the basis of their band name is baseless and OR. No sources or comments from the group themselves on issues like colonialism or politics in general can be found, so it is safe to say that this slur should be removed from the article at once. Shellwood (talk) 10:49, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
Cameroon
Please stop reverting totalitarian to authoritarian. 1) You’ve provided a link from Vox, which is a very UNRELIABLE news source largely due to its bias to the left-wing. 2) Cameroon’s President has granted himself unlimited power over any laws including constitution, dictator for 42 years and continuous suppression of Anglophone population, by international standards, Cameroon can be regarded as totalitarian regime. 59.102.33.100 (talk) 06:20, 11 July 2018 (UTC)
- Provide support for your claim that Vox is an unreliable source, simply screaming "left wing biased" won't help you. And a source that supports your claim that Cameroon is a totalitarian state. Shellwood (talk) 06:25, 11 July 2018 (UTC)
New editor
I am a former ip editor (i can email you my former ips). Can you please nominate the Shirin Oskooi article for deletion (i can't i'm not confirmed). She is not notable and we can't have articles on this site for every reality show contestant. Please. Someone changed her redirect to an article and she is not notable at all. thank you ip 9+ — Preceding unsigned comment added by JasonJudsonOd (talk • contribs) 03:54, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
Huggle message
Hello. I just want to let you know that in the coming version of Huggle (3.4.5), there will be a new feature of editing pages directly inside Huggle using an edit form. The edit form functions same as the web one. The default shortcut for this is E and the shortcut for "Edit page in browser" (which previously was E) has changed to Alt+E. If you want more non-automated edits or you prefer editing pages in the browser, you can swap the shortcuts of the above. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me or Petrb. Thank you. ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 01:56, 14 July 2018 (UTC)
Fight Club revert
Hey there. I noticed on the 27 of April you reverted an edit by 2A02:587:3A14:9400:F4E9:AC74:9B81:D708 and kept the edit from being viewed publicly. I don’t mean to snoop around, but why was this edit not shown, pages are vandalised all the time, what made this one special? I’m sure you had good reason, I’m just very curious Ducktech89 (talk) 04:10, 14 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Ducktech89:Hi, I can't remember the details on this one but as you can see here[2] it was a serious BLP violation. Shellwood (talk) 04:22, 14 July 2018 (UTC)
I'm not sure this is vandalism. Though I admit I almost reverted too. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 22:33, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
