Satellite Shankar is an upcoming 2019 Indian Hindi romantic action drama film written and directed by Irfan Kamal. The film stars Sooraj Pancholi and Megha Akash in the main lead roles.[1][2] The film is bankrolled by T-Series co-producing with Cine 1 Studios. The film is based on the life of Indian soldiers and the principal photography of the film officially commenced in around 3 September 2018.[3] This marks the first ever Bollywood film ever to have shot in across more than 10 states of India from North to South.[4] The film is scheduled to have its release on 5 July 2019.[5]

The film marks the return of Sooraj Pancholi who essays the role of an army officer after 3 years in silverscreen who previously starred in 2015 action film Hero which was his debut film in his acting career.[6][7] The filming began on 3 September 2018 in Kashmir and most portions of the film were shot in North India inclusive of a 60-day schedule in Kashmir. The filmmakers roped in South Indian film actress Megha Akash to act in the female lead role opposite to Sooraj Pancholi and in fact marks her debut in Bollywood industry.[8] The film was shot in about 10 states of the country and became the first Hindi film to complete the feat.[9] The first look poster of the film was unveiled by actor Salman Khan on 8 January 2019.[10]

The filmmakers in February 2019 confirmed that the film will not have its theatrical release in Pakistan over the 2019 Pulwama attack helmed by Pakistani terrorists on the Indian state security personnel at the Indian administered Kashmir which happened on 14 February 2019 resulting in the death of 40 Indian armed forces.[11][12][13]
