I had cited a reference to Duran Duran on the article. It details how Dante's character was inspired by the band, Duran Duran. But because the author of the article has personal/jealousy issues with Duran Duran, I am prevented from including some edits. The author claims that the reference "is not credible," which we all see is not true. A while back, I found another reference to Duran Duran that cites it as the source for the model for Dante. At this time, I'm trying to find it. When I do, I request that the author put aside his personal issues and allow such reference to be cited. I ask that the author be respectful and understanding. And it would be a good idea for the author to seek help for his issues.

GA Review

A well-referenced, well-written, out-of-universe, informative article. After your peer review and some changes, you may consider applying for Featured Article status. In the mean time, tidy up the image as an external link in the 'Outside DMC' section and reference any paragraphs that do not have any sources. ck lostsword|queta!|Suggestions? 17:20, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Took out the Colt reference?

Why? It's relevant and the site I cited is by a gun expert and game fan who identified the elements of the guns' construction. Also, the make and model of the guns is something I've seen asked many times in discussions of the games. If we take this out, we should also take out that Rebellion resembles a Zweihander and that Yamato resembles a Katana. --Boradis 21:41, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was suggested in the peer review the source was stated to be unreliable and he pointed that it was either to find a reliable one or simply take it out, unfortunately there doen't seeem to be many reliable source regarding that. - 21:45, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
We shouldn't just roll over for every comment a peer reviewer makes without analyzing it. I don't see why that site is unreliable. The owner is a gun collector and researcher with an interest in gaming. --Boradis 22:02, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added a reference to Dante never having to reload. I swear, we need a way to cite the games themselves, things that aren't written in text but are just as clear cut. I also took out the reference to them being pistols, since there is no cite saying they are. They behave more like machine guns anyway. --Boradis 22:23, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The gun paragraph now has only the information we can cite from "reliable" sources. It's pretty useless this way, but whatever. --Boradis 16:06, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Many of the in-game profiles call them pistols or revolvers, and explain that they fire infinite bullets made of "demonic magic".
  • Devil May Cry 2, Weapon File — Handguns: "Dante’s hand-made twin pistols. They fire bullets with magic power."
  • Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, Guns File — Ebony & Ivory: "Dante's personally designed handguns made for rapid fire action."
  • Devil May Cry 4, Dante's Arms File — Ebony & Ivory: "Personally designed by Dante, these pistols are the weapon of choice when rapid-fire is a necessity."
  • Devil May Cry 3, Code: 1 — Dante, Dante's Weapons — Ivory: "Ivory, his right gun, is custom built for rapid firing. Various parts are rounded to ensure fast draw times."
  • Devil May Cry 3, Code: 1 — Dante, Dante's Weapons — Ebony: "Ebony, his left gun, has been modified for long-distance targeting. it is designed for comfort and accuracy."

Kobayashi

Just so you guys know the text where it says DMC4 is being produced by RE4 producer Kobayashi has linked Kobayashi's name to a baseball player of the same name. Unless he is a man of may talents, we may want to fix that.Shinealight 12:50, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mascot?

The cite provided with the sentence that says Dante is one of Capcom's mascots only goes to Screwattack's list of cool characters. I'm going to remove the mascot claim until someone can provide a cite where Capcom calls Dante one of their mascots. --Boradis 02:37, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anime translations

So I want to add some quotes from the anime to give cites for the anime Dante's character quirks -- strawberry sundaes and the like. But as there is no official translation as of yet, what should be done? One Web site was doing .srt subtitling files for the episodes, which were in line with the other translations I saw, so I doubt they were too far off. Would it be OK to use those, and if so, how should they be credited? Or should we just wait until it's translated by the company that licensed the show? --Boradis 18:18, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't this be okay? After all, it is also officially stated in the novels as well that he enjoys strawberry sundaes. If you read the novel, he eats it at Bobby's Cellar, and Grue and Enzo always comment on it. CrazyNekoRun 04:58, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dante Alighieri

I'm not entirely sure, but judging by the DMC series being a play off of most of Dante Alighieri's works, especially the references to the seven sins in-game, I wonder if it would be Original Research to put in a note that his name is undoubtedly based on the Dante from The Divine Comedy

Yes, this is definitely based on Dante Alighieri. The *white hair*, the fact that *he wears red*, the fact that HES NAMED AFTER HIM. A lot of the stuff that happens in the game is *based* on events in the Divine Comedy, for example, one of the levels in one game is named "Inferno", and it's a round room with a demonic statue in the center - clearly a depiction of the ninth level of the Inferno. I don't understand why he is not referenced in the article!

Edit: PLUS THE FACT THAT HIS FREAKING *BROTHER* IS NAMED VERGIL 68.196.141.53 (talk) 00:17, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Because there isn't anything that actually confirms such beliefe. The game's producer never stated that they based the game on the Divine Comedy. I know it's pretty obvious, but without an actual and verifiable source of information about this, it would only fall into the "Original Research" sort-of-category of Wikipedia, and that's simply forbidden. --Alexlayer (talk) 00:40, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And that his lover (or loved one) is named Beatrice (Trish is her nickname). Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 02:20, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Size of reception and creation sections

While well-written, I'm thinking there's definitely gotta be more to add to these sections. Not trying to sound critical here, but I can often find a couple paragraphs on reception easy for some of the character articles I've done (GLaDOS, Travis Touchdown, Midna), so this one should be really easy to find content for. I'd suggest looking through reviews of the four Devil May Crys as well as VJ for the PS2, Google News, and Google Books. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Feel free to add more as long as you can back it up with sources. I'd like to see that material.--Alexlayer (talk) 21:15, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DURAN DURAN REFERENCE

12.20.4.100 (talk)
