I'm not sure if renaming the category to the suggested one will be helpful. True, there is no such term as 'Government of Mumbai', it is the BMC, so a more apt category is in the offering. This would also require many of the subcategories be classified under a different master category as it will not be compatible with 'Governance of Mumbai'. See if a alternate new category version can be drafted. This should be proposed on the [[WT:INWNB|Indian Wikipedians noticeboard]]. It is cc-2.0 and it says here:

Welcome back

Great to find you active again! I am sure everything is fine and you are doing very well. In the meanwhile, we had a meet at Bangalore: Bangalore Meetup. I met many there - let us have another Meet somewhere! --Bhadani 11:10, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yay! Thanks - I was testing a newpages patrol program when I saw the new tabs appear, and had the opportunity to delete a CSD A3. Thanks for promoting me! Martinp23 11:18, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Martin's not quite as cool as the last guy you promoted, don't you think? -- Steel 13:38, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Cricket

Yes I guess your right that articles such as this don't need many inline citations. It's just since inline citations are generally required all the time for an article to go FA, I just though this article isn't going to be FA much longer. I'm assuming that some of the dates and numbers in "History" and "Forms of cricket" probably can have an inline citations though. - Tutmosis 17:04, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is good to see you around the place, Nichalp. Perhaps it is time to give cricket a face lift? Perhaps suggest another concerted effort at WP:CRIC? -- ALoan (Talk) 15:26, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Urgent

I wanted to put this pic up on Poverty in Pakistan

http://www.shutterfreaks.com/gallery2/album101/Pak84a_003

Per the website instructions, I emailed the photographer (would you like to see the transcripts?)

He said, "You can use my photograph under the condition you clearly mention the photographer and his gallery: Frits Selier, Netherlands".

So, is that okay? Hkelkar 00:48, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think he will have to mention that he licenses this particular contribution of his to Creative Commons license. That'll solve the problem. Perhaps you could email him again and ask him to update his website. Regards, — Nearly Headless Nick {L} 10:34, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think that since the author hasn't specifically mentioned that the image can be licensed under the CC license, we should use {{CopyrightedFreeUseProvidedThat|the photographer and his gallery are attributed.}}. Also, the transcript of the mail should be sent to permissions (at) wikimedia (dot) org so that it can be archived and the ticket provided. — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 11:30, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No probs.I will send the emails as soon as I can (in a day or so), then upload the image per your instructions. Thanks.Hkelkar 11:38, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I forwarded Selier's email to permissions_(at)_wikimedia_(dot)_org. Now what? do I wait for an acknowledgement or can I upload the image?Hkelkar 12:19, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually the image should be uploaded "before" the mail is sent to the PR dept. In the mail to the PR department, you should specify the name of image you have uploaded on Wikipedia/commons. There won't be any acknowledgement, they would just update the image page with the ticket number of the permission archive as shown in this edit. — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 12:37, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You should make it clear that for images to be used in Wikipedia, the author must allow uncondition commercial use to be made, AND derivative use be allowed. =Nichalp «Talk»= 23:38, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question about signature

BTW, how do you get the four tildes to become "=Nichalp <<talk>>"? Thanks! Fowler&fowler 05:32, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

First of all: welcome back! I'd like your opinion about these polls and the edits last october here in the cities Naming convention - India section: [1] I did post a msg here about this sometime ago. --hydkat 09:56, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I must admit, I was quite impressed by his perfomance, I think he'll either make a really good politician or a good diplomat :) About reopening the debate: upto you, 'cause as you have seen: I really suck at it. --hydkat 07:15, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The India Page Lead

I haven't done anything to the history section. In fact in all my edits on the India page, only once was I able to get beyond the lead, and then it took me five sections of talk to get the words, "Lord William Bentinct, the Christian evangelists, and British utilitarians," into the text. Yeah, I didn't think the animals were going to cut it. (My girlfriend said, "Looks like it is written for idiots." :)) Will keep working on getting rid of the specifics. I'm also still working on the signature. Fowler&fowler 01:45, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS I managed to fix the history section. I reverted to your edit from 14:15 18 November 2006. Is this what you wanted? My signature problems are still not resolved. When I type:
[User:Fowler&fowler|<font color="#B8860B">Fowler&fowler</font>]][[User talk:Fowler&fowler|<font color="#708090">«Talk»</font>]], I get the message: "Invalid raw signature; check HTML tags." !

Thanks a lot for going through and correcting the content. The logo will not do as it is distorting the actual logo and i need to have it in that manner only. Teach me how to do it so that i can make the necessary changes. Thanks once again. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Shubhayu (talkcontribs) .

Suggestion needed

Since you are active now, you are probably the best person to sort this out. In the FAC of Bengali language, the rank of Bengali language (in terms of number of people speaking the language) in India is being debated. 1991 census data (cited in the article) states it's second.

However, there are contradicting references. As Idleguy has pointed out, this nic site states Telugu is the second most widely spoken language in India. The problem is which reference to follow. 2001 census data on language is not yet available online.

In this scenario, I suggested to state the fact in the following manner, "...according to 1991 census of India, Bengali is the second most widely spoken language in the country...". Could you please see the FAC and comment there in this regard. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:45, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Emblem of India.svg

Thanks for uploading Image:Emblem of India.svg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:05, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Renaming a Category

Hi Bhadaniji, how are you ? Recently, I came across a category called Category:Government of Mumbai. Actually, I feel that the title of the category is incorrect, as no such thing exists as the government of Mumbai. I feel the category should be renamed to "Governance of Mumbai". Someone had already raised the point on the talkpage. But noone renamed the category. I am not too familiar with the process of renaming categories. Can you help me on this one ? Thanks, --NRS | T/M\B 17:38, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with your point - there is no such entity as the Government of Mumbai, and perhaps it should be changed to Governance of Mumbai. However, we may see the names of similar categories, if any, for other metros like Kolkata and Chennai. Most likely, the redundant category will have to be deleted after complying with the procedure. A reference to Nichalp should be useful. I am doing this by cutting-pasting these exchanges on his talk page. --Bhadani 18:57, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
