I agree with the rationale to retain this page, as it is in fact of great relevance, not only to the successes and contributions of Dr. Burry to the world of investing, but also to the history of what led to the United States Housing Bubble of 2008. Mark Halsey 01:17, 26 September 2017 (UTC) |

He invested 17m in gamestop which has ballooned to 250m+, this will likely be worthy of mention, perhaps in a few months after the GME hype/newsyness goes away |

2020 Updates
Hi! Anyone want to help me or weigh in on if we should add a new section, or links, based on his re-emergence in 2020 as a voice in the financial for anti-lockdowns etc? Or even his comments on index funds. Here are a few articles featuring him in 2020 that we could cite from:
- Michael Burry of ‘The Big Short’ Slams Virus Lockdowns in Tweetstorm
- ‘Big Short’ investor Michael Burry did a lot of buying during the market sell-off
- The Big Short’s Michael Burry Explains Why Index Funds Are Like Subprime CDOs (from 2019) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nickgray (talk • contribs) 14:00, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
Pronunciation
I see /ˈbɜːri/ but I heard /ˈbɛri/ pronunciation by others. Which one is correct?
Buffett
Why no mention of Warren Buffett, who according to The Big Short (or at least to today's interview w/ the author) invested in his earlier, relatively conventional investment firm?

History of S&P
This part where the performance of his fund vs the S&P is described is word by word plagiarism from "The Big Short" ! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.251.119.0 (talk) 16:54, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
After watching the Movie, it is clear that the quotes and definitions used in the movie, were taken directly from a reliable source. I wouldn't call it plagiarism, there simply needs to be a site notation. I am sure the book would be of significant insight here. Mark Halsey 01:12, 26 September 2017 (UTC)
Details and should he have a wiki bio?
I posted on the main board if someone could change tone and clean up the article.
I'm not sure If this is worth of a wiki bio anymore. He seems to be living a private life after making a profitable bet in the stock market a few years ago and has since closed the fund and kept to himself. Other than this, I cant find any reliable sources about his life story. --Cohen2011 (talk) 20:30, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

What is your point? Living a private life does not make him insignificant. He is VERY significant, historically, and of course should be profiled on Wikipedia. Plenty of public figures would rather they never get profiled here, noted by their lack of photos. Nonetheless, this is not about "private lives." It's about history.
Agreed. If it wasnt because of the book 'The Big Short', I dont think this page would even exist. People like him should be more well known. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.25.178.4 (talk) 07:21, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
Good for him. I wish I was in the markets and could have seen the crash coming, I would have given him my money to invest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.161.41.203 (talk) 20:55, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
