August 7

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on August 7, 2021.

Wikipedia:NOTGAME

This shortcut is usually used in the context of "Wikipedia is not a game" (vis-a-vis Huggle/RedWarn, m:WPWP, etc), however WP:NOT seems to say no such thing, at least not in the section linked to. It seems a classic case of using a shortcut where the target doesn't even remotely say what it's being used as. ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 12:05, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary mixed-script redirect. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 11:39, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Liethuvim

Not mentioned at target (nor anywhere on Wikipedia for that matter); a web search did not reveal anything useful. If this is supposed to be a misspelling, it is a highly unlikely one. ~~~~

2022 in American music

There's no subcategory on American music (contrast Category:2021 in American music), meaning that this is only helpful to readers if they're willing to browse through the subcategories and guess which pages are about the U.S. It might be reasonable for 2022 in music (currently a redlink) to redirect here, but even there that seems like it would run afoul of WP:REDLINK. Lots of concert dates, album releases, etc., have been announced for 2022. And in my opinion XNRs to categoryspace should be reserved for cases where there's no chance of an article ever existing. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 08:04, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ohio County (Virginia)

  • The previously published article on the 1778-1787 county, titled "Ohio County (Virginia)", on the NORTH BANK of the Ohio River, with adequate citations from reliable sources, is lost to public view by an automatic link to Ohio County, West Virginia on the SOUTH BANK of Ohio River.
- The LOST article had substantial French-Speaking settlements at Cahokia and Vincennes. These together with Revolution veteran settlement were ceded by Virginia to the Northwest Territory in 1787. Please help to recover and reinstate the information as a separate article. With apologies for my imperfect procedure . . . TheVirginiaHistorian (talk) 06:44, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Mooski

Same reason as above. In addition, these two singers do not associate much. BrandNew Jim Zhang (talk) 02:56, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. There's rarely a good reason to redirect one living person's name to another's. It both misleads and potentially surprises our readers, and opens up an array of potential BLP issues depending on who the people in question are. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 08:07, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per above points. Rubbish computer Ping me or leave a message on my talk page 15:45, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Track Star (song)

"Track Star" is a song by American rapper Mooski. It shouldn't be redirected to a guest appearance by Coi Leray. BrandNew Jim Zhang (talk) 02:55, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. Since there's no article on Mooski, this is a reasonable place to redirect to, as it contains information about the song. Should an article on Mooski be written at some point, this can be retargeted there without need for another RfD. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 08:08, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

List of fictional "hunter-killer" references

Unnecessary redirect to disambiguation page that does not make sense in the context of the page. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 02:14, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • This redirect is 12 years old, but was only an article for 14 hours. Pageviews since 2015 clock in at around the standard background noise (85). Delete as an implausible search term. (If kept, this would probably be best retargeted to Hunter-killer team.) -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 08:12, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Taco sauce

Redirected for years to the Salsa page, until Salsa taquera ("taco sauce") was removed from the page. Taco sauce could either refer to salsa or hot sauce. Some restaurants like Taco Bell serve hot sauce packets as their taco sauce. Keep the Salsa redirect, or retarget to Hot sauce? This term seems ambiguous. Colgatepony234 (talk) 15:02, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm inclined to delete. Unlike, say, an enchilada, a taco doesn't necessarily have sauce at all, and there are plenty of sauces besides hot sauce and salsa that can be served with one. There's no mention of tacos at List of sauces, and while there's a single mention of taco sauce at Taco, the other mentions of sauce there are for a citrus/mayonnaise sauce. On the other hand, most Google results for the phrase are for hot sauces—on the other other hand, no mention at Hot sauce either. --BDD (talk) 15:51, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I disagree with BDD. One can very clearly go to a supermarket and buy a product named "taco sauce". (At least one can here in New York.) So we need something to satisfy that search, whether it be a redirect to a DAB page or to a specific page about a particular product, or a new page about this specific product. I would prefer to see Taco sauce redirect to Hot sauce rather than just be deleted. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:07, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. There is very clearly something called "Taco sauce" given that my search results for the specific term are filled with very similar recipes (principally tomato puree, water, white vinegar and cumin). One of those recipes claims that this sauce is known as "Salsa taquera" in Spanish (a redirect to Salsa (Mexican cuisine) here, but a red link on eswiki). Thryduulf (talk) 07:38, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment Salsa (Mexican cuisine) is clearly different from Taco sauce. Taco sauce (as sold in my area of the United States) is a purely liquid condiment whereas salsa is comprised mostly of chunks of tomatoes and other vegetables (and sometimes fruit) with additional spices. These are two completely different products. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:22, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
But Salsa (Mexican cuisine) is about "a variety of sauces", probably the result of us trying to balance the word's meaning in Spanish vs. English. Now I'm leaning more keep, with a preference for expanding the target article to cover this topic. --BDD (talk) 14:35, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As long as Salsa (Mexican cuisine) is expanded to cover the purely liquid concoction sold as "taco sauce" (think small packets available at outlets such as Taco Bell), then I would support that. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:38, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Taco What one thinks of "taco sauce" probably varies depending on whether you are refering to traditional tacos or hard-shell tacos. It's not always pico de gallo or a red hot sauce in a bottle or packet.—Bagumba (talk) 16:08, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: There is consensus to keep this redirect, but not for its target.
