Dayspring Christian Academy is an award-winning[1] preschool to Grade 12 private Christian school located in the borough of Mountville, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States of America. Voted "best school" by Lancastrians in Lancaster County Magazine's Best of Lancaster awards[2] in 2018,[3] 2019,[4] and 2020,[5] Dayspring Christian Academy is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International[6] and Mid-Atlantic Christian Schools Association.[7] Dayspring Christian Academy offers dual credit and AP courses.[8] The school uses the kind of education that was prevalent in America during her first 200 years.

History

Founding and associations

Founded in 1987, Dayspring Christian Academy has been accredited[9] by both Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Middle States Association (MSA), and works in association with the Mid-Atlantic Christian Schools Association (MACSA), Foundation for American Christian Education (FACE), Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA), Commonwealth Christian Athletic Conference (CCAC), National Institute for Learning and Education (NILD), and the Nehemiah Institute.

Academics

Philosophy/Methodology

Dayspring Christian Academy provides a form of classical education including logic, rhetoric, Latin, Greek, the sciences, mathematics, history, and the arts. This form of education, championed by abolitionist and the "Father of American Scholarship and Education", Noah Webster, and women's education advocate, Founding Father, the father of American psychiatry, Benjamin Rush, places the Word of God at the center of every subject.

Dayspring Christian Academy teaches a classical Christian curriculum developed with the purpose of helping students think and reason from biblical principles and apply in their lives.

Students go on several field studies per year, allowing them to gain hands-on experience in what they have learned.

Dual Enrollment

Dayspring Christian Academy offers a dual enrollment program through a partnership with Cairn University.[11] The program allows students to earn up to 30 college credits before graduating from high school.

Extra-Curricular Activities[12]

According to Private School Review, Dayspring Christian Academy ranks among the top 20% of private schools in PA for large student body, amount of sports offered, and the number of extracurriculars offered.[13] Additionally, according to Niche.com, Dayspring Christian Academy ranks in the top 5 Best Private K-12 schools in the Lancaster, PA area.[14]

Varsity and Middle School Sports

Dayspring Christian School students have the opportunity to compete in multiple sports[15] throughout their student career as the Warriors. Varsity Sports include strength and conditioning, boys soccer, girls volleyball, golf, cross country, boys basketball, girls basketball, girls lacrosse, and track & field. Middle School Sports include boys soccer, girls volleyball, boys basketball, girls basketball, track & field.

Cooperative Sponsorship

Dayspring athletes can compete as members of McCaskey's teams through a cooperative sponsorship with J. P. McCaskey, giving athletes the opportunity to pursue the following sports:

Events

Remember America

The Remember America Speaker Series[16] was created to tell the story of American liberty and it's foundation on biblical principles. Previous speakers have included Mike Huckabee, David and Jason Benham, Alveda King, and Trey Gowdy as well as other notable guests. In 2022, Dayspring will host Charlie Kirk[disambiguation needed],[17] an advocate for protecting 'White Demographics in America'.[18]

The Extraordinary Give

Dayspring Christian Academy participates in The Extraordinary Give.[19] Hosted by Lancaster County Community Foundation, The Extraordinary Give connects 501(c)(3) organizations to community donors.
