Money spraying is an integral part of the Yoruba Culture in Southwest Nigeria, They are a very flamboyant and party-loving people. it's is a tradition loved by many Nigerians irrespective of their ethnic background or tribe. Money Spraying symbolizes a showering of happiness, good fortune, and a display of the guest's affection for the couple at the wedding ceremony. The bride and groom are ushered in and dance behind the wedding party. Guests walk in in turns or in recently encircle the couple on the dance floor and come forward, placing bills on the couple's forehead, allowing them to “rain down.” “At a Nigerian wedding reception, the bride and groom are dressed in Yoruba Attire,” the bride wears Iro, Buba, Ipele and Iborun made of Aso Ofi (Aso Oke). The groom wears an Agbada, Soro with Fila or Buba and Kembe. As the money is sprayed, 'collectors’ take the cash from the floor and place in bags for the couple.” [1]

In the mid 40s the culture is now being absorbed by other ethnic groups and tribes who have moved into Yoruba region of Nigeria. Money is sprayed at weddings, house warming, thanksgiving, etc across Yorubaland as a good gesture for the being-married couple by the attendees. The money is placed one after the other on the celebrant temple at an untimely pace, the money is left to drop on the floor or into a tray that would later be collected by celebrants' friends or family.
