Goga Khuroshvili

Hello, you deleted Goga Khuroshvili wikipedia. You were wrong. He has played in Under 20 world cup in 2016. Before that he was played in u17,18. In 2018 he was played Georgia XV in Tbilisi Cup, against Argentina XV and Brazil national team. Then he was selected in Georgia wide group. Then he played again in Georgia XV 2019 against Jaguares(2 testes). You think that it’s not enough achievements to have Wikipedia? James9821 (talk) 20:10, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@James9821:, None of these achievements would be enough for him to qualify for WP:NRU. Only test appearances for Georgia's national first team would count towards NRU, unless he played professionally at a notable club in a competition listed at NRU. He'd therefore have to pass the wider scope of GNG, and no sources were found to suggest he passed that. Hope this clears it up. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 20:13, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

So if player doesn’t have test in Georgian national team he doesn’t allowed to have wikipedia? There isn’t written that he has Georgian national team cap. Hopefully he will have officially test matches soon James9821 (talk) 14:53, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And please restore his Wikipedia. It’s not good sight what you did. Thank you James9821 (talk) 14:54, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@James9821:, It wasn't me who hosted the discussion anyway, that was another user. But if a player/person doesn't qualify for the guidelines then they are deemed not notable enough for a wikipedia article. Not every player is notable enough for an article. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 15:49, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@James9821:, the article was only 'soft' deleted also. You can ask for it to be restored at WP:REFUND, but would need valid reasons for it being reinstated, such as something that would show it would meet GNG, as the player doesn't qualify for NRU. Ethan de Groot

Why did you change ethans birthplace back to gore? He wasn’t born there. Boyfromgore28 (talk) 10:53, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Boyfromgore28:, because the updated birthplace was unsourced, if you have a source which states his birthplace then feel free to add. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 11:54, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

He’s my brother. I think I would know haha Boyfromgore28 (talk) 12:04, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Boyfromgore28:, Wikipedia still requires sourcing of information. His All Blacks profile is the only source to state a birthplace (despite it possibly being incorrect). If there's not another source which states his birthplace it should remain as this until sourcing can be found to prove otherwise, despite what you're saying. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 12:09, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

NPC founding years

Hey mate, I can't seem to find the discussion there was to do with what year should be recorded for each Bunnings NPC team. I think to be less confusing to the casual reader, we should put the founding year the union was formed. As prior to 1976, some sides competed before then in such matches like the Ranfurly Shield and local derbies. Also, it is from my understanding, most of the unions were created on the basis of fielding a men's representative side from the affiliated clubs. Cheers Kidsoljah (talk) 09:51, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Kidsoljah:, I put a discussion on the Rugby union WikiProject but didn't get any real responses. I'm happy to go with the actual foundation date, although the pages were created just for the NPC teams. Maybe a note needs to be added in the opening of the page about the founding of the NPC on all the team pages. I was under the impression though that the Ranfurly shield was going to continue to be linked to the historic union pages instead of the new team pages though. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 09:56, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Kidsoljah:, have gone round and made changes (apart from to Tasman and North Harbour) who were founded after the competition began, if you feel any other changes are necessary let me know. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 10:10, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Rugbyfan22:, looks good thank you. I think it’s best and less confusing that way. In the future, once I’m done tidying up the NPC seasons, I might draft a history section for each page for some more insight for the casual reader. What do you reckon? Kidsoljah (talk) 11:04, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Kidsoljah:, That's not a bad idea, maybe just a very brief history of successes or other notable events. I'd probably suggest NPC only histories though, leaving Ranfurly Shield and other stuff for the union page, which should go into much more detail. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 11:06, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Rugbyfan22:, yeah I was just thinking the professional era onwards as well some brief notable achievements. Kidsoljah (talk) 11:11, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Kidsoljah:, Sounds good. Many thanks for your hard work. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 11:13, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Draft articles of Pan American Medalists

Hello Rugbyfan22, I see that you helped to approve the article that was converted into a draft "List of Pan American Games medalists in rugby sevens". The following drafts: Draft:List of Pan American Games medalists in football and Draft:List of Pan American Games medalists in roller sports ended up going through the exact same problem. Is it possible for you to help with their approval again? The number of references is equal to or greater than similar articles (for example) Svartner (talk) 11:12, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rugbyfan22, cheers for retaining the historical logo. Just a note on that - the non-free rationale has to changed on the file when doing so (which I have now done) lest the bots delete it. Thanks -- Ham105 (talk) 10:54, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Ham105:, apologies for not changing the rationale. Thought it was of historical significance to keep, so didn't replace it with the new one. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 11:48, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ham105:, in terms of the Kintetsu Liners logo, I believe the one replaced was just a stop gap logo used when the team was renamed and rebranded. Their old logo was just the word LINERS in bold type, so maybe this one could be deleted. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 11:59, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dorset & Wilts 2 Central to Drafts

Hello - if I've understood the history correctly you have moved "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Dorset_%26_Wilts_2_Central" which I created recently to Drafts. The reason given is that it doesn't have sources / references but there is a hyperlink on the page to the RFU Results website which shows this league exists and the teams involved etc. The only began in September so it is new - there are no previous winners or other third party information sources - this is community rugby in England, it doesn't get articles on well known websites or media attention. I don't know how else to prove it's genuine. The https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_rugby_union_system page includes dozens of pages identical to this one, the only difference is most leagues have been in existence for some time. I would appreciate it if the page could be reinstated. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by MaxPower2017 (talkcontribs) 15:57, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@MaxPower2017:, perhaps a source showing the creation of the league when it began in September would be helpful. Just the hyperlink isn't sufficient in this case. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 17:51, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for your reply. A link showing creation is included - https://colernerfc.rfu.club/news/dorset-and-wilts-league-2-re-organisation-revealed - this is from one of the clubs involved stating "Dorset and Wilts League 2 has been divided into 3 divisions for the 2020-2021 season as previously notified to you." Is this not sufficient? Thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MaxPower2017 (talkcontribs) 12:09, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@MaxPower2017:, have moved the article back to main space now with the source you've included. The page could still do with some more sourcing though if there's any other mentions in local news etc just so it doesn't get pulled up again though. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 13:05, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for doing this - much appreciated. Noted regarding additional sources - have already looked once but will do so again! — Preceding unsigned comment added by MaxPower2017 (talkcontribs) 14:21, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm

Why are you changing all the updates I have made for all blacks players when they are about to play in 1 hour 163.47.239.174 (talk) 11:44, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@163.47.239.174:, Changes shouldn't be made to caps until after match has been completed, not before. Some of these players could be withdrawn, or score points in the match. This is common policy across all sports. Also you should update the cap date section below in the infobox when making these changes. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 11:46, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm

I follow every single game involving players that I’m making changes too, if they score points I update it as it happens, live. They will not be withdrawn as the final team sheet has been handed in and confirmed this is why I went through the starting 15 and added 1 cap per player, it shouldn’t have to wait until the game is complete as a player could play the first 30 seconds and then come off and that still counts as 1 cap. Cheers 163.47.239.174 (talk) 11:50, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@163.47.239.174:, Wikipedia policy is to not update until after the event has been completed. This stops errors like duplication of appearances and points, especially if the cap update section hasn't been updated, as you haven't been doing. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 11:54, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm

Ohh I get it now thank you for that, I’m sorry about that I didn’t realise, I am a big all black fan and I’ve just gotten into editing pages so haven’t learnt how to update everything yet. Cheers 163.47.239.174 (talk) 12:00, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@163.47.239.174:, no worries, your edits are appreciated, they're just a bit hasty in this situation. Feel free to update them all when the game has been completed. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 12:02, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2021 Rugby World Cup qualifying

Hi Rugbyfan22, I'm trying to find a rugby editors' consensus about how to use markup in rugbybox templates. If you don't mind, could you please add your opinion to a discussion I started on the talk page for the 2021 RWC women's qualifying? It is basically about where a colorbox such as to repechage, is shown, i.e.

  1. Displayed always next to the home team, even if the home team did not advance to the repechage?
  2. ... or displayed next to the team that did advance to the repechage?

Thanks if you can help. -- Ham105 (talk) 19:27, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ham105, have offered my 2p on the situation. Just don't think they're really needed personally. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 21:34, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I dream of horses, Apologies for my ignorance, but what do autopatrol rights allow me? Will it affect my editing and creating in any way? Rugbyfan22 (talk) 20:24, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled granted

Hi Rugbyfan22, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Seddon talk 00:04, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Rugbyfan22, Sorry to bother you. I was looking at the LCCC page and the squad (what is the sourcing for the squad...do you know?) and was a bit confused about what was going on wrt the squad and captaincy ... Dane Vilas. I see in the infobox the captain is listed as: andrew mchale. This seems wrong... but ...Anyway best wishes, (Msrasnw (talk) 18:26, 16 November 2021 (UTC))[reply]

@Msrasnw:, Hi there, I've fixed the captaincy infobox issue which was just vandalism from an IP. Current squad has been updated with known ins/outs ahead of the 2022 season, as Vilas isn't currently confirmed as returning (his contract expired at the end of 2021) he's been removed from the squad list and infobox. The team page on Lancashire's website has yet to be updated though. Hope this explains it. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 18:32, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Moana Pasifika, player eligibility and flag icons

Hi Rugbyfan22, thanks for updating the squad on the Moana Pasifika page. I noticed that you have given players the flag icon of the country of their Pacific Island heritage, also when NZ born players are still eligible for New Zealand. I'm not sure this is the right way to go about it or is consistent with Wiki good practice. Examples are Joe Apikotoa, Ere Enari, Danny Toala and William Havili, but there may be more. As playing for Moana Pasifika - at this stage - doesn't alter a player's eligibility (or implies they have declared for their nation of heritage), I think that in case of NZ born players, the NZ flag icon should be used until they are no longer NZ eligible (under World Rugby Regulation 8). If it is considered desirable to indicate which PI nations these players are also eligible for, then maybe this could be indicated in a different way: (a) indicating after the player's name (between brackets) which PI nation he is eligible for; or (b) by using footnotes, a seperate paragraph or a table to indicate they are eligible for this or that PI nation. Interested in reading your response. Cheers!

@Ruggalicious:, Hi there, I did think about this a bit. Given they're meant to represent the Pacific Islands I thought it best to list nations they're eligible for as announced in the signing press releases. Obviously those that aren't eligible (Visinia and Fainga'anuku for example) I've left as NZ, but for Pacific islands eligible players I thought it best to list as them. I'm happy for them to be listed as NZ though, and given they're all contracted by NZ Rugby they could possibly be, just thought it would distinguish them from the other NZ sides a bit more. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 10:45, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. Having had a good look at the squad table, I think the most elegant way of indicating a player's eligibility for his country of heritage (in addition to his eligibility for NZ as his country of birth) would be via an extra row in the table with the text (and the correct number of asterisks added to the players' names):

Uncapped player, also eligible under World Rugby Regulation 8.1 via the (grand)parent rule for: * Tonga; ** Samoa; *** Cook Islands etc.

What do you think? I have no strong views on whether flag icons should be added in that extra last row of the table, but don't think it's necessary.

@Ruggalicious:, I feel that over complicates it slightly. There's quite a lot going on in these squad tables as it is (especially as the season progresses and you have short-term deals and what not), and so would cluster it more. I think it should just say NZ or the Pacific Island they're eligible for if they're uncapped and not captured personally. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 11:40, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't have to be added via the squad table. A short, extra paragraph in the same section is an option, too. I think information about players' elibility status is valuable, and possibly necessary, considering the specail nature of this team. I'll draft something tomorrow morning, if you like. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ruggalicious (talkcontribs) 11:55, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Ruggalicious:, that would be great as I'm not 100% sure on what to do about it. I'm going to try and complete all the red linked players today so there should be less red on the squad list anyway. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 12:00, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Rugbyfan22: I'm already working on a page for Solomone Funaki, so no need to do that one!
@Ruggalicious:, ok I'll leave that one for now. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 12:13, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @TheRugbyBoy:, as the subject fails WP:NRU hasn't played in a notable league as listed at WP:NRU the subject needs to pass the genera; notability guideline (WP:GNG). While there is some sourcing in the article, and a couple that could potentially allow it to pass WP:GNG in source number 2, more sourcing like this is needed for a GNG pass, and particularly those not from local news sources. Hope this helps. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 10:37, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As Newington is a Kindergarten to Year 12 school the fact that James was only there for six years in The Senior School and that he didn’t attend one of the Preparatory Schools is indeed relevant father than notable. That said every editor on Wikipedia is an expert on everything so have you way. SproulesLane (talk) 02:07, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@SproulesLane:, as I said in one of my edit summaries, there is nothing notable about the years he went to said school. Perhaps if he won a school title while playing rugby in a certain year (and it can be verified in a source) then that year could be stated, but it's not standard to put school year dates in articles such as these.
