Revision as of 08:21, 6 March 2022

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Hey Ya!, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ABC. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Critical response?

Updating rotten tomatoes info is constructive any way you look at it. As far as the billing block, don't we go by the poster? Thank you. Samurai Kung fu Cowboy (talk) 04:53, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I believe you may want to look at the manual as well. Samurai Kung fu Cowboy (talk) 04:55, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Samurai Kung fu Cowboy: I assume this is in reference to Elliot(né Ellen) Page. AFAIK there is no offical policy, but I interpret WP:Commonname as meaning the individual's current name should be used. I think using their proper name with the footnote explaing the change should be used as a compromise. –DMartin 04:58, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It is policy. Every other film page does it. Under the cast section it's fine and probably better to use his current name. But the billing block in the box always goes by the poster. I also think it should be noted how he's credited in the cast section for reader clarity but that's a separate conversation. Samurai Kung fu Cowboy (talk) 05:02, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think a lot of Wikipedia readers won't access footnotes and just be confused but a footnote is fine if that's how most editors wish to proceed. Again though, I've seen so many issues arise over the cast list in the opening box and every time it gets reverted to the poster billing. Unconstructive edits?

I explained why enrollment was 3, the school has indeed shutdown, seen if you look into their google maps, enrollment should be 0, but the special needs department remains, these were not disruptive edits. Halsing Khan Ahmed (talk) 05:14, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Halsing Khan Ahmed: I can find no evidence that the school has closed. –DMartin 05:16, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Dmartin969: Here is the evidence: https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1CHBF_enCA800CA800&sxsrf=ALeKk030zoYMnsvvjhPsskdfbLFOkSgWbA:1608786887246&q=Beaconsfield+High+School&stick=H4sIAAAAAAAAAONgecS4j5Fb4OWPe8JSWxgnrTl5jXEtIxdXcEZ-uWteSWZJpZAXFxuUJcfFJ8Wln6tvYJyRYVIUr8EgxcOFxJdSUOLi3ftbWFp0T9nPy1pCnJ4fnW_6WJ70EVzdtPX4QQt2P6VgI_ddl6adY3MUZACCjtWhDlKaWkJc7J7FPvnJiTmCO4vVlvLapNprCXNxhCRW5Ofl51YKejExHHjw_729EicnUJNC8vf39loMTftWHGJj4WAUYOBZxCrhlJqYnJ9XnJaZmpOi4JGZnqEQnJyRn58DAAcLXDPfAAAA&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiWv7uX7uXtAhVEnFkKHRJ-BLkQ6RMwHHoECBIQAg&biw=1920&bih=1007 Halsing Khan Ahmed (talk) 05:18, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Halsing Khan Ahmed: That is not a reliable source. That is a google search for the school's name. –DMartin 05:19, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Dmartin969: Appologies I attempted to send their google maps, which clearly states they are closed, does this link suffice? https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Beaconsfield+High+School/@45.4294498,-73.8647747,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x4cc9394cd943f149:0x4e0738c1c7b582ab!8m2!3d45.4294461!4d-73.862586 You have banned me, yet I have provided evidence supporting my updates, I will report you if you do not enforce the rules properly
@Halsing Khan Ahmed: That does not show that it is closed, and even if it did it is not a reliable source. A relaible source would be something like an official statment or news article annoucning the school's closure. Might the school be closed temporarily? If so, then that might be worth mentioning in the article, but it does not warrant the school being referred to in the past tense. –DMartin 05:25, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Halsing Khan Ahmed:For the record, you have not been banned and I do not have the power to ban you. However, if you continue nonconstructive editing you could be reported to administrators and banned. –DMartin 05:27, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Dmartin969: It does show it is closed, and secondly it is, as you must have proof you own the school to change that. I feel you aren't quite familiar with google maps. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Halsing Khan Ahmed (talkcontribs) 00:27, 2020 December 24 (UTC)
@Dmartin969: I do understand your confusion, as to my knowledge the page was raided earlier today. After all, the school shut down therefore the students would feel emboldened to commit such actions. Halsing Khan Ahmed (talk) 05:34, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE: It seems that the google maps page was vandalized, I will cease any further attempts to edit the page, cheers! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Halsing Khan Ahmed (talkcontribs) 05:38, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion for Hengdian Group

Hi, Adakiko, hope you are well. Please forgive me if I leave the message in a wrong place.I saw you undid the edits to Hengdian Group as they appear to be promotional. Can I have your suggestion on the below contents which I want to add on Hengdian Group’s history?

The sources link I am going to provide is from Forbes on its FIFTH pharagraph."China's Movie Studio Tycoon Xu Wenrong Opens Summer Palace Replica Theme Park". Forbes.

Replaceable fair use File:John Raimondi 2012.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:John Raimondi 2012.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 13:22, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Rocks Tour article

Thank you for leaving your message on my talk page Dmartin969. I did leave an edit summary as to why I had made the redirect change for Rocks Tour, as the article itself was undersourced. It had no secondary sources, which in turn failed both WP:NTOUR and WP:GNG. That is why I redirected the tour article to the band's main page. HorrorLover555 (talk) 20:24, 12 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@HorrorLover555: I understand why you deleted it, and it appears that it may qualify for deletion. However, we have a deletion policy that must be adhered to. I recommend you read the criteria for speedy deletion and nominate it that way. –DMartin 20:28, 12 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Harold Camping, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Dutch.

Hi, I was looking at your edit on my change at Coinbase. I am a little confused why a plural noun is following the 'a/an' in the article. Can you explain this, please? - The9Man (Talk) 14:55, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@The9Man: It may just be my (American) dialect, but I've always heard the word headquarters used, even if it's referring to a single location. To be sure I checked wiktionary, and it seems that headquarter is only ever a verb, the noun is always headquarters. This language of ours sure is weird. –DMartin 15:10, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Dmartin969:, Oh, interesting. I learned something new today. Thank you. - The9Man (Talk) 15:14, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

on Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport

See I want to delete this page because the airport situated in Lucknow is an international airport but this has been redirected to the Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport looking like its a domestic one. So i am deleting the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport page so that after deletion I can move the Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport page to newly made Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport Page. And currently it is not possible because there is a page right now which I want to delete. So please let me delete that page dont again and again undo my actions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shane Editor (talkcontribs) 11:43, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
