Rajasthan Royals (RR) is a franchise cricket team based in Rajasthan, India, which has played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since the first edition of the tournament in 2008. They will be among the ten teams to compete in the 2022 Indian Premier League.[1][2] The Royals have previously lifted the IPL title once, in the inagural season.[3]
The Royals are known to unearth obscure, high potential talent,[4][5] as well as for their involvement in a number of controversies and scandals.[6][7] The team is based at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.[8]
Background
The franchise chose to retain three players ahead of the 2022 mega-auction.[9] For the IPL Mega Auction 2022, Rajasthan Royals will have 62 Crores in their Purse, after retaining three Players namely Sanju Samson for Rs 14 crores, Jos Buttler for Rs 10 crores, and Yashasvi Jaiswal retained for Rs 4 crores. Adding to this, Rajasthan Royals have signed 21 more new players in Auction 2022. the Most Expensive player for the Franchise is Bowler Prasidh Krishna who roped for Rs. 10 Crores, following Krishna, Shimron Hetmyer is the second most expensive player, the batter has bought for Rs.8.5 Crores in the Auction. The Royals started the auction with the first purchase of player presented, Ravichandran Ashwin[10] roped for Rs. 5 Crores and ended up adding 7 more players to their squad, including two overseas players. Rajasthan Royals bought a Total of 8 players on the First Day and the remaining 13 players on the second day of Mega Auction 2022. In Mega Auction, Royal Franchise bought 21 players Consisting of 6 All Rounders, 1 Wicketkeeper, 4 Batsman and 10 Bowler.
