Revision as of 05:08, 11 January 2023
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
![]() | If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Uncontroversial technical requests
- MINRES (currently a redirect to Minimal residual method) → Minimal residual method (move · discuss) – The former is an abbreviation of the latter. The closely related Generalized minimal residual method uses its full name as the article name. Sizeofint (talk) 05:08, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
- Draft:GeorgeNotFound (currently a redirect to GeorgeNotFound) → GeorgeNotFound (move · discuss) – Draft is ready for mainspace. Previous concerns were addressed; see talk page explanation for more info. BappleBusiness[talk] 04:46, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
- List of Toronto slang (currently a redirect to Toronto slang) → Toronto slang (move · discuss) – Please move per WP:COMMONNAME. Wolfdog (talk) 20:38, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Comment - It's a list article so "List of..." is a valid title; and outside of Toronto I'm skeptical if "Toronto slang" is a common enough term to qualify for WP:COMMONNAME, which deals with much more widespread terms. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 20:43, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- I think this is more than just a list article. There's a lot of explanation, and 59 references. This move looks reasonable. I want to understand your objection - are you saying that "Toronto slang" could be misunderstood for something other than the subject of this article? Thank you. Dr. Vogel (talk) 21:59, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- I'm the one that moved it to the name "List of..." simply because "Toronto slang" was already taken, haha! Wolfdog (talk) 00:01, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
- Agreed, I think this move is reasonable as it isn't really just a list article. ~ Eejit43 (talk) 03:52, 11 January 2023 (UTC)

Administrator needed
- Paul Zimmer (internet personality) → Troy Becker (currently a redirect back to Paul Zimmer (internet personality)) (move · discuss) – Legal name (and name he goes by) has changed to Troy Becker. I cannot move it myself as the Troy Becker page is admin protected. Strugglehouse (talk) 17:40, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Per Black Kite's edit summary when protecting the page back in 2021, article has had some COI and BLP issues. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 21:36, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Miss World 2022 (currently a redirect to Miss World 2021) → Miss World 2021 (move) – Pageant was held in March 2022 after this edition caused delays by the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 and 2021. No official announcement of Miss World 2022. ApprenticeWiki contribs 00:11, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
- @ApprenticeFan this looks to be copy and paste moves done to move the 2021 article to 2022 title, and the 2022 article to the 2023 title done on 7 January 2023. There are edits done after that date on the now 2022 article and 2023 article. @Amakuru, is it possible to do a histmerge from Miss World 2022 (revid=1132062990) onwards to Miss World 2021, Miss World 2023 (revid=1132062358) to Miss World 2022? – robertsky (talk) 02:18, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
- OK and I have cut and pasted them those parallel articles needed history merge. ApprenticeWiki contribs 04:23, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
