If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
![]() | If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Uncontroversial technical requests
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
- Jet fuel taxation in the European Union (currently a redirect to EU aviation fuel taxation) → Kerosene tax (currently a redirect instead to EU aviation fuel taxation) (move · discuss) – Reverting undiscussed move. 'Jet fuel' is American English. All official publications about it from EU institutions and in EU member states call it "kerosene", so per WP:COMMONNAME, that is what it should remain. Mover incorrectly asserted it is "not an official name"; one can read it in all WP:RS provided. Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 19:16, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
- Chuck Billy (vocalist) (currently a redirect to Chuck Billy) → Chuck Billy (move · discuss) – primary topic by quite a big margin, see pageviews FMSky (talk) 11:42, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
- Target is a dab page, what about in GBooks? In ictu oculi (talk) 12:15, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
- the other is just a cartoon character of a brazilian cartoon, not that notable --FMSky (talk) 13:22, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
- I understand your stance as I've seen countless users/editors move quickly to disambiguate a title of 2 entries than maybe put a hatnote on one for the other. But as potentially controversial as this move request would/may suggest, your "primary topic" rationale must be included and recognized by all here in/on WP, not just notablity. Intrisit (talk) 17:00, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
- the other is just a cartoon character of a brazilian cartoon, not that notable --FMSky (talk) 13:22, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
- History of Sino-Russian relations → History of Sino–Russian relations (currently a redirect back to History of Sino-Russian relations) (move · discuss) – Use an en dash between the names of nations or nationalities when referring to an association between them (MOS:DUALNATIONALITIES). Hey man im josh (talk) 19:38, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Hey man im josh: Do you have any comments on this original rationale? (I'm not smart enough in this area to know.) -2pou (talk) 22:05, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
- @2pou I think he's right here for sure in his request, the original rationale is wrong, as "Sino" should not be a modifier of "Russia", as we are not talking about groups of Chinese Russians; the thing that's tripping me up is that it makes more sense to move the title to "history of China–Russia relations". aaronneallucas (talk) 05:22, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Sino- is the same as the Franco- example in MOS:DUALNATIONALITIES ("Wrong: Franco–British rivalry; Franco- is a combining form, not an independent word, so use a hyphen: Franco-British rivalry"). @User:Aplucas0703 (aaronneallucas): I just want to mention that there was a related but different case at Talk:Sino-Soviet relations last year, which suggests that other wording might run into controversy as well. Adumbrativus (talk) 07:20, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Given the amount of discussion here, is this a WP:PCM? -Kj cheetham (talk) 09:16, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
- I think that MOS:DUALNATIONALITIES does cover this case and that either this article shouldn't be moved at all, or it should be moved to the title proposed by @Aplucas0703. But definitely not to the title requested by the OP. Dr. Vogel (talk) 12:25, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

- Magic hat → Magic Hat (currently a redirect back to Magic hat) (move · discuss) – I think it needs to be capitalized like many other disambiguation pages tend to be. 2804:431:F73C:81BB:EDF3:A88A:D3E9:6CB9 (talk) 20:17, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
- While the majority of the items listed are proper nouns, not all are. As such, this should not be moved. This is a WP:PCM. - KLUV (currently a redirect to KSPF) → KSPF (move · discuss) – The station changed callsigns earlier today after rebranding to 98.7 The Spot just under two weeks earlier. Marioedit8 (talk) 11:18, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Marioedit8: The requested destination points to a location unrelated to the current title. This should probably become a dab page similar to KEWR. This is a WP:PCM. If you wish to continue with your request, click the discuss link in your request to begin a formal WP:RM discussion. Once you've done that, or if you do not wish to continue, please remove your request. Thanks! UtherSRG (talk) 11:46, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
- It's not unrelated at all. The radio station changed its call letters from KLUV to KSPF, which becomes the primary topic. There's already a hatnote directing to the airport. The radio station, in a major city like Dallas, which is known only as KSPF, becomes the primary topic over an airport in a town of 12,000 which goes by another name. Per WP:ONEOTHER, a dab page would be inappropriate, and the example given above by @UtherSRG: is faulty, because KEWR, in that case, means either one of the largest airports in the world, or a television station that's only a redlink. I endorse the requested move. schetm (talk) 14:54, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Schetm: UtherSRG isn't saying that it doesn't have merit, but since the original redirect target, before you changed it, goes to something unrelated, the request was usurping another topic as the primary topic. Usurping requests are usually treated as PCMs. Sennecaster (Chat) 19:15, 27 June 2023 (UTC)

- Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World (currently a redirect to Re:Zero) → Re:Zero (move · discuss) – Per WP:CONCISE in the same vein as KonoSuba, as this is the shortened title people commonly use for the series. Here's a few third party articles that also use this concision title as citation evidence: 1 2 3 GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 06:57, 26 June 2023 (UTC)

- @GalaxyFighter55: As this has been moved from the requested destination at one point, this does not seem entirely uncontroversial. I think, though, that you would find great support in a formal request. This is a WP:PCM. If you wish to continue with your request, click the discuss link in your request to begin a formal WP:RM discussion. - MS Dhoni → M. S. Dhoni (currently a redirect back to MS Dhoni) (move · discuss) – Per formatting and naming convention. 157.46.213.69 (talk) 16:21, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
- Reliable sources do differ from the common format, such as in [https://www.espncricinfo.com/cricketers/ms-dhoni-28081 ESPN], so we should follow their lead. BhamBoi (talk) 17:34, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
