The Telugu Cine Writers Association (formerly Film Writer's Association) is a recognized entity within the Telugu film industry, operating under the All India Film Employees Co-Federation. Established in Hyderabad, India, it functions in accordance with the Trade Union Act of 1926 and has been affiliated with the Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation since September 15, 1993. The TCWA is committed to safeguarding the interests of its members, comprising authors, novelists, playwrights, and lyricists contributing to Telugu cinema. The association offers valuable services such as script, screenplay, and lyric registration to protect members' intellectual property rights and provides support during disputes. Equipped with a legal officer and a dispute resolution committee, the TCWA actively addresses issues concerning writers' rights, including recognition and fair compensation within the film industry. As a non-profit organization, the TCWA has two membership categories: life members, acknowledged as story (script) writers onscreen, and associate members, whose contributions are not credited. Biennial elections are conducted to select the governing body. To commemorate its 25th anniversary, TCWA organized a significant event on November 3, 2019, at the Filmnagar Cultural Centre.[1] The event was attended by esteemed dignitaries from the industry, and distinguished writers were honored with lifetime achievement awards.[2] Additionally, in recognition of its milestone, the TCWA hosted a notable gathering at the Filmnagar Cultural Center, where seasoned writers were acknowledged with lifetime achievement awards. Furthermore, on a separate occasion, members of the Tollywood community convened to recognize 95th Academy winners[3], such as Keeravani and Chandra Bose, highlighting their remarkable contributions to the field.[4]
