Rockman Shadow (AKA R-Shadow), the chief villain in the Japan-only Wonderswan title Rockman & Forte: Challenger from the Future, bears a striking resemblance to Quint. He makes the Mega Man of the present believe that he is an upgraded version of his future self, Quint. Later, he reveals that he is not Quint, but rather a robot totally different from Mega Man. Rockman Shadow is apparently an earlier robot built just before Wily remodeled the real Mega Man from the future, making him a prototype since he was based on Quint's designs. He was discarded because he was deemed only a test by Dr. Wily. After Quint died in the future, R-Shadow notices that he is the last surviving creation of Dr. Wily. He revolts, equipping himself with new parts to surpass anyone in power. As he dies in the ending, he reveals that he went to the past so that he may be put to rest in his fit of madness, realizing the error of his ways as he was consumed with power. His death is depicted in the arms of Mega Man, and his "spirit" even leaves his body after Mega Man and Bass part ways, both a little bit wiser. However, it seems that Dr. Light repairs him in a later scene, apparently staying on good terms with Mega Man. The real Quint (ie. the same robot as Mega Man) makes a very minor cameo towards the end.

Rockman & Forte Mirai kara no Chōsensha (ロックマン&フォルテ 未来からの挑戦者, Rokkuman to Forute Mirai kara no Chōsensha, lit. "Rockman & Forte: Challenger from the Future") is a title in the Mega Man series of video games. It was only released in Japan on the WonderSwan handheld system.

Story

The year 20XX. A group of robots calling themselves the Dimensions attacked Symphony City, a city where people and robots lived in peace. Though without any witnesses, the one leading the Dimensions with overwhelming power was a robot like Rockman. He was said to be a dark and wicked person completely obsessed with destruction. Mega Man, who heard this news at Dr. Light's laboratory, took off to the scene despite being under maintenance. At the same time, Wily saw the dark Rockman, and to ascertain the mystery he sends Forte to the city. Just who is this dark Rockman really?!

This is probably the final storyline of the entire Mega Man / Rockman classic series, which inevitably carries over into the Maga Man X timeline followed hudreds of years later,by the Mega Man Zero Timeline.
