How can Proto Man be introduced in MM3 and then by "temporarily upgraded" to Break Man in that same episode? Is Proto Man Break Man or not? I don't remember anything that would suggest so, but please prove me wrong. At the very least, the way it is presented right now is very confusing.--Beaker342 02:16, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you look on the NetNavi page, it says that Breakman is actually Rocketman, not Protoman. In fact, Protoman beats him in the Grand Prix (a race between Netnavis in the TV series)!! Good job spotting the error, it will probably be fixed soon (I will try doing it myself now, but somebody might do it before me). Protomega 01:48, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I hadn't noticed that it said that Proto Man appears with the title Break Man in MM3 and that there were unused sprites for a transformation. Very confusing stuff. --Beaker342 05:40, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whoa whoa whoa, your getting your continuities mixed up, we are talking about Original Series Protoman, not EXE. Breakman IS Protoman (Proto Man, Blues whatever) in MM3, the unused sprites, the whistle, everything proves it. (ProtomanXRED)

One would think that sprites that weren't used in a game would mean it was taken out of the continuity.Mavrickindigo 02:21, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The reasoning for the removal of the sprites comes from Protoman transforming into Breakman in Gemini Man's stage, the problem is, if the player goes to that stage first then goes to Hardman/Shadowman/Magnetman after, Protoman will still be in the Protoman sprite design. There is roms on the net of Rockman 3 with the transformation intact, but they are prototype roms before the final version of Rockman 3 (J). As much as I hate to involve myself with such a trivial matter...Alright, the Ruby-Spears Mega Man cartoon was actually not that incorrect about ProtoMan. Although the show did exaggerate ProtoMan's attitude as wicked and failed to emphasize his neutrality enough, there really is not much deviation from his tendency to fight with Mega Man and betray Dr.Wily. In Mega Man 3, ProtoMan disguises himself as BreakMan and fights against Mega Man. In Mega Man 4, Dr.Wily clearly states that ProtoMan had betrayed Dr.Wily after ProtoMan helps Mega Man save Dr.Cossack's daughter (which may also be a reason why Dr.Wily's DarkMan robot attempts to frame ProtoMan's in Mega Man 5). Furthermore, in Mega Man 7 Mega Man can fight ProtoMan after they meet several times and prior to the fighting ProtoMan makes a remark about finding out who is the strongest of Dr. Light's creations. It is true that ProtoMan is not evil, but he has played on both sides of the Dr.Light/Dr.Wily war.

Okay, now I can talk about some skeptical theoretical stuff. On a side note, ProtoMan's "free will" may be related to his life-threatening malfunction as he turns down Dr.Light's offer to be repaired in Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters. It is true that Dr.Wily served as Dr.Light's assistant in making ProtoMan and created Zero of Mega Man X. Zero bears similar features to ProtoMan (especially his Mega Man Battle Network incarnation) and posses free will, yet he is not a reploid as he was not created from X but was found separately. It might just be the case that Dr.Wily finds ProtoMan's lifeless body and uses it as a base to create Zero. I thought this might be an interesting rumor/theory. -Anonymous

Fair use rationale for Image:Protoman2.gif

Image:Protoman2.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:27, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Protoman=Zero?

I noticed there was a mention of Zero being an upgraded Protoman. Now, considering Zero was unveiled already in the 2nd Megaman Arcade game and Protoman was also present, why is this a possiblility? Zero was shown to be near completetion and Protoman was shown to be defective.

Maybe you misread the part about Zero being graphically based on Zero. ChromeWulf ZX 02:42, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
