Your dispute with Calton

You and Calton have both been on Wikipedia for a substantial length of time and for thousands of edits. You both ought to know by now that your conduct isn't in any way helpful; you also ought to know that you don't have to go bare-knuckles mano a mano to resolve disputes. There are mechanisms in place to seek outside assistance.

I have filed a report at Wikiquette alerts to get some neutral eyes on your dispute. (See Wikipedia:Wikiquette alerts#Calton and Neutralhomer.) Both of you need to cool it, or this will end on AN/I—with blocks. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 18:37, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You'd best explain better than that. If you're under a parole, then you're going to have to say who imposed it. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 18:48, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Parole would be a harsh term for it. El_C "imposed" it in hopes that it would settle things. Metros (talk) 19:21, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Roanoke Rapids Template

I called it Roanoke Rapids/Norlina because you can't hear some of the stations I included in Roanoke Rapids or Emporia. WZRN in Norlina does not make it to Roanoke Rapids, and I don't think the Henderson AM station, whichever that was, makes it either. I don't know what else to call it, because I'm certain the stations will end up deleted if I don't include a city over there. I'd say Henderson, but then that opens the door for inclusion of a bunch of Raleigh FMs and it just turns into a mess, plus it's pretty far away from Roanoke Rapids... TripEricson (talk) 19:40, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What if I called it "Roanoke Rapids/South Hill" and split off everything from Mecklenburg County VA and east into the Roanoke Rapids market? This would mean removing WKSK and some others from Southside VA, but... TripEricson (talk) 19:47, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've made the changes. I'm now considering splitting Farmville off into its own section, what do you think about that? TripEricson (talk) 20:29, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was already planning on it. Buckingham has all of one station, and Appomattox has all of one or two. I'd also like to include Nottoway County, possibly calling it the "Farmville/Crewe" market. TripEricson (talk) 20:34, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Of course I'd leave it in both, I mainly meant for the sake of WBBC in Blackstone. I'll work on setting up that template. If I don't finish it now, I'll finish it after dinner. TripEricson (talk) 20:43, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Farmville template created, Southside VA updated, all existing station pages should be correct now. I'm gonna go take a break and come back later. Good luck with the page creations! TripEricson (talk) 21:06, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting Help, Please

Would an admin please un-protect my monobook page? It was supposed to be un-protected at 15:12 on 12/26, obviously a computer goof has prevented that. Can you help me out? Take Care...NeutralHomer T:C 18:00, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stephens City revisited

Hey NH, I just remembered that I promised to take another look at Stephens City. My feeling is that it's a good article, but it may have trouble passing the good article review. The main issue will be the referencing. It has a lot of sources, but the folks who do the good article reviewing usually want more inline citations/footnotes. The tricky part is that a lot of the content came from the History Center, and they didn't use footnotes. So, it would be tough to go back and footnote their work. Do you have any of the books that are referenced in the article?--Kubigula (talk) 23:22, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're right that it needs something about schools. I would also say it needs something about the economy - any notable industries or businesses? Also, is there anything else interesting to say about the geography?--Kubigula (talk) 03:13, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ad84 (talk) 01:31, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Ad84[reply]

Not a problem. I would have given him an indef-block for vandalism only account, but it seems he did have some good faith edits.   jj137 01:38, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's what it seems. He probably just got aggrevated that people were warning him not to vandalize. I guess he can use the 24 hours as a cool down period.   jj137 01:43, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I saw your RFPP; I don't think there's much need to protect the article now that Ad84 is blocked. When his block is over, we may need to. I'll keep it watchlisted.   jj137 01:53, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can remove it if you like. You shouldn't have to re-request it tommorow, as since I have it watchlisted I should be able to see if Ad84 is back at it again. Of course, if I am not getting around to it you should re-request it.   jj137 01:58, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MascotGuy

I'm starting to recognize his socks, or at least his aliases. By the way, I was in Stephens City last week - my mother taught there (I think) in the 1950's and remembered it (and White Post) as notorious speed traps back then. Acroterion (talk) 20:34, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stop now

Stop removing valid CFD templates now or you will be blocked. This is pure vandalism. The templates are necessary to alert people of the pending CFD on the categories. Metros (talk) 21:36, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

24 hours for your disruptive edits. Moreschi If you've written a quality article... 21:39, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Neutralhomer (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

No warning was given, unless you count Metros's. Block was issued no less than a minute after Metros's "warning", so that isn't enough time to for warning to be read. My "revisions" were because of JPG-GR's "hidden" message, if you will, on the categories. A 1,740 byte message. This is what the talk page is for. I asked JPG-GR to explain and I got the standard archive/don't respond, so I reverted. If he wants to post something, this is what we have talk pages for. I was never rude to JPG-GR the entire time and could have reverted with the standard "undo" button just the same. But again, with a block issued no less than a minute after Metros's "warning", I am requesting an unblock and will gladly give up TWINKLE and POPUPS permenantly.

Decline reason:

Seriously, you don't think the disruption your actions caused weren't disruptive? The text wasn't hurting anyone but going on a mass tag reverting spree using Twinkle simply isn't acceptable. You should know better and experienced users should accept the consequences of their actions when they disrupt the project. — Spartaz Humbug! 21:49, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

What in the hell are you talking about with the "hidden message"? Are you talking about the big yellow box at the top of the category page? Because that's not so hidden to anyone. Metros (talk) 21:47, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"<!-- Please do not remove or change this [[Template:Cfr]] message until the survey and discussion at [[WP:CfD]] is closed -->, etc.".....those little < and ! normally mean something that is hidden from view unless "edit this page" is clicked. Hence, "hidden message". - NeutralHomer T:C 21:50, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Um, yeah that's on every category nominated for deletion. Not just ones tagged by JPG-GR. If you have a problem with the hidden message, talk about it at {{CFD}}, not through a mass removal. Metros (talk) 21:54, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, then I remove my "will give up TWINKLE and POPUPS permenantly offer". - NeutralHomer T:C 21:52, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That shows a lot of maturity (note the sarcasm). "I didn't get my way, so now I take it back." Nice. Metros (talk) 22:01, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think you might find that your ability to use javescript may well be taken away from you altogether if you can't learn to use them sensibly. Spartaz Humbug! 22:21, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I offer to give something up, you all decide to not take me up on that offer, why should I "leave it on the table".....and Metros, you saying that, shows alot of maturity (note the sarcasm).
Spartaz, you can go ahead and take away whatever you want. Like I can stop you. Which begs the question, if you are going to do something anyway, why tell me about it? Like I have any recourse and if I did, most admins don't revert something another admin has done....so pretty much anything is permanent. So, go ahead. I am not being rude, I just don't care. - NeutralHomer T:C 23:01, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Maxim has already removed your Twinkle and protected the page to expire 11 days after your block expires. If you choose to reinstall TW I suggest that you make sure that you use it sensibly. Spartaz Humbug! 09:02, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion

Hi, Neutralhomer, I see that you are currently blocked, but I decided to leave this message anyways. With regards to your edit at "The Woods at Indian Field" article, the removal of a "proposed deletion" tag is not vandalism. Any removal of a proposed deletion, in general (although there are very limited exceptions), should not be reversed (even if the tag is removed by the article's creator). See Wikipedia:Proposed deletion#Conflicts for details. --Iamunknown 22:13, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

See that one I wasn't sure of. The user that did that was a sockpuppet of User:MascotGuy, so I figured it would be best to just revert and be on the safe side. Sorry about that, wasn't sure what to do there. Take Care....NeutralHomer T:C 22:52, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like I didn't do all of my homework... I didn't realise it was a sockpuppet of MascotGuy. That means the content addition to the article is probably false (and, since I cannot verify it, even moreso). I don't know what it means about the proposed deletion. I'll leave that be (but remove the probably-false information). Thanks for the heads up - I thought I had everything straightened out, and I certainly did not.  :) --Iamunknown 23:31, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, glad I can be of assistance. :) Take Care...NeutralHomer T:C 23:48, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just stopping by to let you know I saw your comment here. Regarding the "The Woods at Indian Field" article history, I would like to point out that, while I understand the desire to use an automated tool with an automated edit summary when reverting a prolific vandal, it is sometimes appropriate, even when reverting such a vandal, to leave a brief edit summary (even as short as "rvt MascotGuy sock"). It may end up saving others' time, as they will not regard the revert as an arbitrary (which, indeed, I did in this case at first, and wrongly so). Btw, good to see you back editing.  :) Cheers, --Iamunknown 11:06, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
