Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola is a catholic middle and high school founded by the Society of Jesus in Río Piedras (San Juan, Puerto Rico) in 1952.[1] The school was originally located in Santurce, but was moved to its current location by the Jesuit fathers in 1956. Colegio San Ignacio (CSI) is the only Jesuit school in Puerto Rico.

"Ofrecer una educación católica de excelencia según la tradición Jesuita, a jóvenes varones, sin distinción alguna, que demuestren aptitud, motivación y el respaldo de sus familias, y de esta manera, contribuir a la transformación de la sociedad y al anuncio del Reino de Dios."[2]

Campus and Facilities

Campus is located in a lot of 27 acres[1] in the San Juan metropolitan area with buildings with specialized classrooms for sciences, computers, music, art, drama and others. The campus is connected to the Internet through T-1 line, DSL lines and wireless internet (WIFI).[1] The library has two learning resources centers: one for humanities and the other for sciences and mathematics. The campus has the following sport facilities: 400 meter track for athletics, soccer field, baseball field, swimming pool, gymnasium, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts.

CSI is attended by 715 male students (7th to 12th grades) and has a faculty of 70 professors. CSI is licensed by Consejo General de Educación de Puerto Rico, accredited by Middle States Association and affiliated to the following organizations: The National Catholic Educational Association, The Jesuit Secondary Education Association, Federación Latinoamericana de Colegios Jesuitas, Superintendencia de Escuelas Católicas de la Arquidiócesis de San Juan.[1]

Student Clubs

The students complement their education participating in the following clubs: Band, Chess Clubs, Friends of Jesus, Yearbook, Arte-Muralia, Diving, Sciences, Cinema, Computers, Choir, Drama, ECO-Ignaciano, French, United Future Business Leaders of America, Engineering, Mathematics, Musicología, United Nations, Optimi Semper, Scrabble, Spelling Bee, Varsity, Students Council, Scientific Fair, exchanges with Jesuit Schools in other countries, English Club, Spanish Club, Service to the Others, National Society of Honor, Library Week, Puerto Rico Week and other clubs.el mejor colegio del mundo

Sports

CSI competes with other schools in Puerto Rico in the following sports: Basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball, swimming, track and field, tennis, indoor soccer, and golf.
