The Wikipedia Welcome Squad is now in crunch time for the decision on whether to delete or not. Therefore, if you don't mind, please tell why you want the squad. In the discussion the !votes are 7 for, 7 against, and 2 neutral. With 2 admins on the other side, we need more "keeps" to make our case. Happy editing.....--[[User:Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Fan|LAA]][[User talk:Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Fan|Fan]] 13:50, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

personal abuse

Please place your warning in context, their was an entire paragraph of abuse leveled at this editor on the minimal techno discussion page. Did you actually read it? Your childish muscle flexing is not amusing. Semitransgenic (talk) 10:57, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

 • I did read it and I have issued level 4 warning to the 2 offending editors, yourself included. it is NOT good enough for two editors to be using words such as those, I dont like templating regulers but I will if you dont act like one. Might recommend you read wikipedias policy on civilty before you accuse me of mussle flexing. Prom3th3an (talk) 11:00, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
words such as what? the individual clearly demonstrated himself to be an irrational idiot, this is not personal abuse, it is a perfectly valid observation based upon the individuals behavior. I was actually being nice to the guy. Semitransgenic (talk) 11:06, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
 • Two wrongs do not make a right on ANY messure, I'm more frustrated at that fact that you intentionaly flared him with your "idiot" remark and made no attempt to get him to calm down or remove his post that may have offended others. Prom3th3an (talk) 11:08, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry but diplomacy with idiots is not something I wish to engage in, I really have more constructive things to do. Surely Wiki is an encyclopedia not a training camp for anger management therapists. However, I will refrain from entertaining myself at other peoples expensive in future. Semitransgenic (talk) 11:16, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
 • Thankyou, But i do agree on something you said and that is "Surely Wiki is an encyclopedia not a training camp for anger management therapists" but unfortunetly i just enforce the rules. If you want it to be put in persepective "There is a fatal flaw in the system. Vandals, trolls and malactors are given respect, whereas those who are here to actually create an encyclopedia, and to do meaningful work, are slapped in the face and not given the support needed to do the work they need to do." RickK Prom3th3an (talk) 12:27, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I have noticed this flaw, and I believe there are very simple solutions but for some reason upper admin chooses to be overtly egalitarian about everything that happens on Wiki, irrespective of the disruptive behavior of certain individuals. The fact that any unregistered individual breezing through can just fire off edits and comments, on a whim, is problematic. No registration, no contributions, would be the most sensible policy, and make registration a more protracted affair so only those with a genuine interest will take the time to do so. Also, unsigned comments should not be logged and IP blocking should not be reversible. Semitransgenic (talk) 13:22, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
 • Nice to see we agree on something :-) But I must admit I have seen many IP contributors that arnt vandals (which is reassuring). The flaw mentioned is wikipedias greatest strength, but its also its achillies heel. I personally think its far easyer to ban IP users than it is to find ban sockpuppets :-). Either way I decided to get involved here (one life sentance) and to help (another life sentance :-) fight vandalism (another life sentance being served concurrently :-) Prom3th3an (talk) 22:17, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Thanks

No problem. Sorry to hear that your userpage is getting vandalised. It is fairly standard for people who deal with vandals, and I personally find it amusing when it happens to mine, but I can understand that it annoys you. If you feel strongly about it, the page could be semi-protected, which would probably prevent the vast majority of vandalism. Cheers TigerShark (talk) 11:13, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure I understand, although I find that userpage vandalism is usually spotted quite quickly by RC patrollers, but not always. You may want to consider semi-protection if it is happening frequently. Cheers TigerShark (talk) 11:47, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Edit Summary

Was a minor edit, just adding a missing player. Didn't realise I wasn't logged in. Daniel (talk) 12:42, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User page protection

Hi there, sorry for the delay in responding - I was distracted. I have semi-protected User:Prom3th3an for you, not comfortable about the idea of protecting a talk page but do let me know if you have any sub-pages that you want protecting as well? Kind regards, nancy (talk) 13:02, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All done, and really it was no trouble - it takes seconds as I am sure you will find out for yourself someday. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 16:10, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In the future, you'll usually get a faster response at WP:RFPP, and it also helps to sign your posts on talk pages. I'm not currently active, so it's good to see someone else took care of it. Happy editing. Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:39, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Second batch done also & thanks for the cookie; just had it for breakfast :) nancy (talk) 06:03, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RCP Program

You've been beating me to the revert alot and I was wondering what programs you use for vandal fighting, thanks :). -- Nn123645 (talk) 13:16, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I use Huggle, its the best, but it also uses native rollback (hence my rollback rights). I'm pretty sure it will work without rollback rights though. Prom3th3an (talk) 13:42, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I have rollback, but the only thing I ever found was Vandal Proof, I always found Twinkle much faster. Setting up Huggle now, thanks for the information, and thanks for the smile =). -- Nn123645 (talk) 22:25, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

I DIDNT VANDALISED THE PAGE!!!!! Dont be mean to me... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.155.101.111 (talk) 08:51, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

 • Please note, adding "testicles" to a heading may be amusing to you, however this style is not acceptable on wikipedia and is reffered to as vandalism, I gave you a gentle (lvl 1) reminder. If you wish to add remarks such as those I think you may be more welcome at uncyclopedia.org as we do not apprciate vandalism here. Prom3th3an (talk) 08:55, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry

Yeah, we're all human, so don't worry about the GTA 2 soundtrack problem. 85.251.14.248 (talk · contribs)

I'm glad PS2pcGAMER cleared it, but I must ask.. don't you read userpages? I've written everywhere that I'm retired. Snowolf How can I help? 17:05, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
 • Quite frankly i didnt read your userpage, might i suggest you put the retired message on your talk page also because i just saw you were a VP mod and left you a message (as i did with all vp mods) Prom3th3an (talk) 22:09, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

coaching

Hi,

Im highly interested in admin coaching, as i would like to become an admin in the near future and also to learn about an admins roles, dutys and ethics. Following instuctions on the coaching page it was suggested that I contact an admin who hasnt got any coachees instead of waiting for things to be done for me. I was wondering if you had the time to admin coach me, I look foward to your reply, Cheers Prom3th3an (talk) 08:39, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Promethean,
Although I can't imagine why the answer would be anything other than "yes", I hope you don't mind if I take a short while to go through your contributions before I make it official.
I look forward to working with you.
Cheers - Revolving Bugbear 15:58, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but I simply don't have enough time or energy to coach you. Revolving Bugbear should make an excellent coach. Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 01:49, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your user page design

I was wondering, where did you get your user page design, more specifically the part below your navigation bar? -- RyRy5 (talk) 06:22, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

 • Yes and I could see right through your motive for asking. Cream is well aware I aquired the design and has no objections to it, after all wikipedia is GFDL. I like your designs (except for the framing on Useight's userpage) keep with em' Prom3th3an (talk) 06:30, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Getting admins' attention

Hi Prom3th3an - I'd suggest that a posting at the administrators' noticeboard is probably both a more effective and less labour-intensive way of getting the attention of multiple admins than posting on all of our talkpages. Cheers, Sarcasticidealist (talk) 07:49, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
