Sorry about that!

Didn't mean to steal your thunder on the Jackalicious eyesore. I wasn't sure if a reason was going to be put up (I figured it already would've been), so I took it on myself to close the gap. Please reword it if I've misrepresented your stance! - Vianello (talk) 07:35, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

IP vandalism

No problem - thanks for cleaning up the mess. Please let me know if that person returns under a different IP. --Ckatzchatspy 08:07, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Userboxes

I noticed you're using the Final Straw and One Step Closer userboxes. I hadn't templated them yet, so putting them in makes a mess of code. I converted them to templates today; you can use {{User:Fusionmix/Userboxes/spfinalstraw}} and {{User:Fusionmix/Userboxes/lponestepcloser}} instead of all that code if you'd like. FusionMix 14:07, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Your signature

I've noticed you signed your edit to Template:Vandalism information with a signature that could be confused with User:21655. Is there a specific reason why you have done this? Calvin 1998 (t-c) 02:00, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Regarding Wikipedia:Abuse reports/217.87.x.x, I have some extra IP addresses for you mostly likely from the same user as listed in the report. This time the ISP has been anon range blocked for a period of a week. Is it OK to add them there for you? Fnagaton 15:26, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

When tagging pages for speedy deletion, please be careful to check the page history. This was simply page blanking vandalism to an article with past content and not a new article. Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 04:01, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Template:Convert/Dual/LonAoffSoffImp‎

Hello!

If you want, i can help you to set up a archive, status layout... Actually, the status dot i use is not a page but a series of 3 buttons. They're at the top... The only way to add them is to modify your monobook.js to your monobook JS page (or whatever skin you use) and bypass your cache. Add this line {{User:Cream/monobook.js}}. It will add new scripts and a while set of new things (Works perfect in Firefox)... --Creamy!Talk 13:52, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Happy editing! --Creamy!Talk 13:52, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello! I can set up the archive for you if you want? How many days before the bot automatically archives? Mine is 5 days... After that, they're automatically copied to a separate userpage that is completely set up by the bot... The bot also generates a index... --Creamy!Talk 01:40, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi, 5 days would be great. Also may i ask how you got your coloured username? :-) Prom3th3an (talk) 03:25, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
All right! I put the template, a bot will spot that up and start the automated archiving... You'll see that in a few hours as it checks... As for the coloured username, it's actually a signature... You have to set it as raw... A friend did the signature for me... --Creamy!Talk 14:58, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

RE Adoption

Hmm, have you asked your current adopter? I have a rather specific adoption program. Perhaps you should ask them? Steve Crossin (talk) (review) 12:39, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

  • Hmm yes perhaps i should check first, i woulde be interested to see what program (if any) he has instore for me or weather he is a FAQ. Im now using huggle, its great :-) Prom3th3an (talk) 12:44, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't have a specific adoption program at the moment, I more act as a sounding board for any questions adoptees may have. I don't mind if Steve acts as co-adopter. xenocidic ( talk ¿ review ) 12:50, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Not sure if you're asking me - it looks great. I just don't have the time to put something like that together =) xenocidic ( talk ¿ review ) 12:55, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
  • I've given up replying cause all i get is edit conflicts cause you 2 are yacking like old friends :P Basically i'd love the oppurtunity to learn from both of you, that way i get the best sounding board and adoption program Prom3th3an (talk) 12:57, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Looks nice, but I would say lighten the background a bit, and expand the TOC by default (personal preference). xenocidic ( talk ¿ review ) 13:14, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Much better. xenocidic ( talk ¿ review ) 13:20, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Steave please read the message properly lol :-P "I don't mind if Steve acts as co-adopter. xenocidic ( talk ¿ review ) 12:50, 23 May 2008 (UTC) "
I think Steve's point is that if you one day wish to become a wikiadmin, you need to exercise the utmost civility and show that you are mature (many RFA participants can be somewhat age-ist, so you need to really keep your nose clean). xenocidic ( talk ¿ review ) 13:50, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

(ec)

  • Indeed, but it's not just about the RfA. Me personally, things like that, I just can't tolerate at all. Incivility, such as that, I just find really poor behaviour. We strive on Wikipedia to be civil, even when others are not. Two wrongs don't make a right. Also, you really should remove the message at the top of your talk page, the hidden "warning" to vandals. You're just feeding them beans :) Steve Crossin (talk) (review) 13:58, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Okey perhaps i shoudnt have done that....... mmmmm lesson number 1 - The social niceties must be observed.
  • Incase you havnt guessed, im more of the RickK sort, respect is earned not given. "There is a fatal flaw in the system. Vandals, trolls and malactors are given respect, whereas those who are here to actually create an encyclopedia, and to do meaningful work, are slapped in the face and not given the support needed to do the work they need to do." RickK

Saw your edit, im just dealing with an issue right now. And Rick said those nearly 3 years ago :). Things have changed. Steve Crossin (talk) (review) 14:31, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

RE: Thanks

No problem. Sorry to hear that your userpage is getting vandalised. It is fairly standard for people who deal with vandals, and I personally find it amusing when it happens to mine, but I can understand that it annoys you. If you feel strongly about it, the page could be semi-protected, which would probably prevent the vast majority of vandalism. Cheers TigerShark (talk) 11:13, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Sure I understand, although I find that userpage vandalism is usually spotted quite quickly by RC patrollers, but not always. You may want to consider semi-protection if it is happening frequently. Cheers TigerShark (talk) 11:47, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

personal abuse

Please place your warning in context, their was an entire paragraph of abuse leveled at this editor on the minimal techno discussion page. Did you actually read it? Your childish muscle flexing is not amusing. Semitransgenic (talk) 10:57, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

  • I did read it and I have issued level 4 warning to the 2 offending editors, yourself included. it is NOT good enough for two editors to be using words such as those, I dont like templating regulers but I will if you dont act like one. Might recommend you read wikipedias policy on civilty before you accuse me of mussle flexing. Prom3th3an (talk) 11:00, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
words such as what? the individual clearly demonstrated himself to be an irrational idiot, this is not personal abuse, it is a perfectly valid observation based upon the individuals behavior. I was actually being nice to the guy. Semitransgenic (talk) 11:06, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Two wrongs do not make a right on ANY messure, I'm more frustrated at that fact that you intentionaly flared him with your "idiot" remark and made no attempt to get him to calm down or remove his post that may have offended others. Prom3th3an (talk) 11:08, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
I am sorry but diplomacy with idiots is not something I wish to engage in, I really have more constructive things to do. Surely Wiki is an encyclopedia not a training camp for anger management therapists. However, I will refrain from entertaining myself at other peoples expensive in future. Semitransgenic (talk) 11:16, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Thankyou, But i do agree on something you said and that is "Surely Wiki is an encyclopedia not a training camp for anger management therapists" but unfortunetly i just enforce the rules. If you want it to be put in persepective "There is a fatal flaw in the system. Vandals, trolls and malactors are given respect, whereas those who are here to actually create an encyclopedia, and to do meaningful work, are slapped in the face and not given the support needed to do the work they need to do." RickK Prom3th3an (talk) 12:27, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes I have noticed this flaw, and I believe there are very simple solutions but for some reason upper admin chooses to be overtly egalitarian about everything that happens on Wiki, irrespective of the disruptive behavior of certain individuals. The fact that any unregistered individual breezing through can just fire off edits and comments, on a whim, is problematic. No registration, no contributions, would be the most sensible policy, and make registration a more protracted affair so only those with a genuine interest will take the time to do so. Also, unsigned comments should not be logged and IP blocking should not be reversible. Semitransgenic (talk) 13:22, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Nice to see we agree on something :-) But I must admit I have seen many IP contributors that arnt vandals (which is reassuring). The flaw mentioned is wikipedias greatest strength, but its also its achillies heel. I personally think its far easyer to ban IP users than it is to find ban sockpuppets :-). Either way I decided to get involved here (one life sentance) and to help (another life sentance :-) fight vandalism (another life sentance being served concurrently :-) Prom3th3an (talk) 22:17, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

RCP Program

You've been beating me to the revert alot and I was wondering what programs you use for vandal fighting, thanks :). -- Nn123645 (talk) 13:16, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

I use Huggle, its the best, but it also uses native rollback (hence my rollback rights). I'm pretty sure it will work without rollback rights though. Prom3th3an (talk) 13:42, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I have rollback, but the only thing I ever found was Vandal Proof, I always found Twinkle much faster. Setting up Huggle now, thanks for the information, and thanks for the smile =). -- Nn123645 (talk) 22:25, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

User page protection

Hi there, sorry for the delay in responding - I was distracted. I have semi-protected User:Prom3th3an for you, not comfortable about the idea of protecting a talk page but do let me know if you have any sub-pages that you want protecting as well? Kind regards, nancy (talk) 13:02, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

All done, and really it was no trouble - it takes seconds as I am sure you will find out for yourself someday. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 16:10, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
In the future, you'll usually get a faster response at WP:RFPP, and it also helps to sign your posts on talk pages. I'm not currently active, so it's good to see someone else took care of it. Happy editing. Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:39, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Getting admins' attention

Hi Prom3th3an - I'd suggest that a posting at the administrators' noticeboard is probably both a more effective and less labour-intensive way of getting the attention of multiple admins than posting on all of our talkpages. Cheers, Sarcasticidealist (talk) 07:49, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Heh, I quite like the BSI page. And no, I don't use Huggle as currently I'm unable to download it. Thought I can see it greatly ups a user's edit count. You're becoming quite the anti-vandal patroller. I would like to get Huggle, though not until I get a particular article I am working on up to B-class status. Thanks for the tips though.
