My apologies, I wasn't aware that a change like that would cause the bot to not function properly. Futhermore, I didn't know which bot was doing the archiving. But in any case, I am sorry. <span style="padding-left:2px;padding-right:2px;background-color:#f5faff;border:#cedff2 1px solid">[[User:Artichoker|Artichoker]]'''<nowiki>[</nowiki>'''[[User talk:Artichoker|talk]]'''<nowiki>]</nowiki>'''</span> 14:08, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Revision as of 20:54, 20 July 2008

If you are here regarding my bot's edits, before doing so please note:
  1. There is a very clear policy regarding the use of non-free images, which must be followed by all users. This policy is located at Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria.
  2. Do not revert the bot's edits to your userpages or templates, because the bot will just do it again.
  3. All images must comply with policy.
  4. If you're here to report that the bot screwed up, please at least include a link. Diffs are even better, but a link to the image is sufficient.
  5. We do not permit fair use, copyrighted images be used outside of the article namespace. Please see WP:NFCC#9
  6. Bug reports are very welcome.
  7. My bot will occasionally tag a disambiguation page as orphaned. Unfortunately, that is a Pywikipedia error. I have no control over that, sorry. The reason is that it uses a special disamiguation template that Pywikipedia does not recognize.
  8. If you want a page to not be orphaned anymore, you could try going to related pages, such as the month/day/year of birth and linking from there (if it is a notable person). You also might want to check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Orphanage, that has some tips on how to make it not orphan.
  9. My bot does not remove the template from orphaned pages, just adds it. If it is no longer orphaned, then feel free to remove the template.
  10. My interwiki bot sometimes makes mistakes, but just like in point 7 above, I am using a default pywikipedia script, interwiki.py. Please talk to one of the pywikipedia developers about it, as I am not looking at and approving any of its edits.
Questions and complaints regarding your images, rather than my bot, can be directed to the Image Copyright Help Desk where a team of volunteers will endeavor to offer useful advise in a convivial atmosphere.
Thanks for points 1-6, ST47.

SoxBot X

Can you perhaps task it to move processes requests to something like Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Proc , and then archive them after the 24 hour period, rather than leaving them in the individual subpages for 24 hours as it is now? –xeno (talk) 17:24, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, is there any way for the bot to indicate which right was granted to an archived "done" user? (Should be easy enough to see what right was decline to the notdone's). –xeno (talk) 17:41, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What's this about 24 hours? It archives every 30 minutes... Soxred 93 20:10, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
People wanted the requests to stay up a while longer for transparency, see Wikipedia talk:PERM#Time acted upon requests should remain before archive. (I thought you had already changed this, but it was just an illusion from when the bot got broken). –xeno (talk) 20:12, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
