Notice of change

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that if you are inactive for a continuous three year period, you will be unable to request return of the administrative user right. This includes inactive time prior to your desysopping if you were desysopped for inactivity and inactive time prior to the change in policy. Inactivity is defined as the absence of edits or logged actions. Until such time as you have been inactive for three years, you may request return of the tools at the bureaucrats' noticeboard. After you have been inactive for three years, you may seek return of the tools only through WP:RFA. Thank you. MBisanz talk 00:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

did you vote?

hi there, your vote in ArbCom elections triggered a spoof CSRF alarm. Would you be so kind as to please confirm that you actually voted? :) Apologies for the inconvenience. Pundit|utter 07:34, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Indeed I did. (X! · talk)  · @622  ·  13:55, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Will you be reinstating your bot and toolserver?—cyberpower OfflineMerry Christmas 05:08, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
I'd like to, if only I could figure out what that current situation with Labs/Toolserver is that I'm reading about... (X! · talk)  · @271  ·  05:29, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
WMDE no longer wishes to fund them. If labs can provide sufficiently identical interfaces and storage as toolserver, it will get shut down and if not, it will receive minimal funding. It's going to take like 6 months to figure this blabla stuff out. I currently run adminstats, crat stats, bad image, tally, and reporter tasks. I also run adminstats and date fixer on simple, Adminstats on the Welsch Wiki, and sandbox tasks on meta. See User:Cyberbot I. User:TParis runs all of the tools. User:28bot runs current events and a few other tasks. I don't remember who else runs what though.
Well it's a little more complicated than that. The tl;dr version is that WMDE doesn't want to invest in the Toolserver if everyone will be transitioning over to WMF Labs, however DaB is right when he says that labs won't be able to support everything the Toolserver did, and that the Toolserver would fail faster than Labs was ready to take over. m:Future of Toolserver has a bunch of links to related discussions. Legoktm (talk) 21:13, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
Well I tried to make it simple, but you explained it better than I could.—cyberpower OnlineMerry Christmas 22:23, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

Hello! Do you recall why you added a <span> wrapper to MediaWiki:noname back in 2008? It's interacting badly with changes to the account creation UI, and I'm trying to see if it can be safely removed. --Ori.livneh (talk) 00:32, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

I'm not sure if it can be removed. I know I added it to support some user script, but I can't remember which one or what it was used for. (X! · talk)  · @086  ·  01:04, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

Welcome back!

I've had a really depressing day, Wiki-world and real-world as well. Reading your announcement is the best thing I've read today, and cheers me up considerably. Welcome back!--SPhilbrick(Talk) 00:07, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

  • Hello, X!, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay... a lot longer this time around. ;)
