"Cannibal Corpse VS Slayer"

Plenty of people have said that Cannibal Corpse has "out-done" Slayer in terms of album covers, song topics, etc. It's all a matter of opinion. But, if there was no Slayer, then where would CC (and countless other bands) have gotten their inspirations from? URFG 17:27, 5 May 2007 (UTC)URFG[reply]

I don't think Cannibal Corpse is particularly extreme next to other brutal death/goregrind bands. They're just a lot more famous than most.

Metalocalypse

Wasn't Fisher's voice used in an episode of Metalocalypse?

This is true. In the episode "Go Forth and Die" Nathan Explosion has a dream about working at "Dimmu Burger" and there is an annoying customer in the dream. The customer is voiced by George. Its my understanding that he is in a few other episodes as well, although I can't tell you which ones. The Nathan Explosion character is basically a satire of Corpsegrinder, and you might have noticed in recent concert appearances George has been seen wearing a Metalocalypse t-shirt.

Adding on to the previous person's comment, Nathan Explosion also referenced 3 CC songs in one episode of Metalocalypse.

Missing?

I recall there being a lot more information on this page, why was it deleted? Vandalism?

Umm, something tells me all the stuff about them being emo is vandalism... someone may want to fix that. Samiam, 143.167.132.21 09:56, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just saw this band live, and I'd like to make sure that the information here on Wikipedia is correct. They said during their set that they are from Tampa, Florida. Here it says they are from Buffalo, New York. I'd like to know more about this discrepancy, and as I am not a long-time fan of the band I don't know much about their roots. Input from someone more knowledgeable than myself would be appreciated.

Yo, the band is originally from NY but they've since relocated to Florida. So I guess you can read it as they came to where ever it is you live from Tampa. But the band was originally formed in NY —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.162.15.155 (talk) 03:23, 9 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Hey just wanted to put my two cents in; this is possibly the worst band ever created. How could anyone like this band unless they are mentally retarded??? I do think it is hilarious but for anyone to actually like them seriously well thats jsut insane.

While your opinion is your own, don't make fun of this band just because you don't like them. That's disgustingly immature. People appreciate this band and enjoy their music, and I am one of them...so just keep your comments to yourself if they're not going to be something positive. Mister Deranged 04:59, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Whoever said Cannibal Corpse is for mentally retarded kids, go fuck yourself. Do you know any mentally retarded kids who listen to the band? People are charmed to different stimuli so it is natural for those who like Cannibal Corpse to enjoy them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.178.91.156 (talk) 04:25, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am guessing that the album-cover image used on this page is likely to offend some people. Perhaps the image could be placed farther down on the page with a warning of some sort? Just a thought. ~ islandboy99

Why would that be needed? It is the right album cover right? By the time Wikipedia nears maturity it will hopefully be full of images that at least some people find offensive. Have you seen the type of stuff that is in a standard anatomy textbook? Mine has images of a sex organs showing all their bits and pieces. How about a microbiology textbook? Mine has images of really gross skin infections and gangrenous toes. What about Michelangelo's David or any number of other artworks that sometimes large groups of people find offensive? We of course want all those images. Who decides what is offensive? --mav
Just quickly, if you are looking for something on the Wiki for "Cannibal Corpse" you deserve what you get. I am a fan of the band, I think if you take a look at the name of the band then you will probably get a glimpse of what that band may be about. You FKN sooks.

I am at least the second person here who thinks that displaying the cover to "Butchered at Birth" is beyond the bounds of good taste. Mind you, I am very jaded to blood, guts, and gore. There are people out there who would rather not have this thing shown to them, and it's their right not to see it if they do not wish to. As such, I have changed the image to one of CC's less controversial covers. There is no reason to show the most controversial cover possible. If a person wishes to see the rest of the covers, he or she can do so at CC's website.

Thanks. Tte 03:29, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I dunno... I mean, it's just a painting. Mayhem had their ex-singer's headshot photo on the cover and it's still on Wiki. (Though something tells me not for long.) Besides, that cover describes the band's image very very VERY well. // Gargaj 08:41, 2004 Dec 20 (Boof1 I agree,

Boof! ! agree, Garaj. Very big CC fan here. --SonicTailsKnuckles 20:56, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)

if someone doesn't want to see a cannibal corpse cover they wouldn't click on cannibal corpse. this also applies to people who don't know what a cannibal corpse cover looks like. because if they want to see a cannibal corpse album it should be presented to them. in a nut shell the internet (including wikipedia)is no place for censourship, there's no iron curtan on my computer.

Offend people by portraiting non-existing violence? I`m more offended by the tv and newpapers pictures of not only our every day violence, but the wars started by greedy oil pigs or nutty religious as****s who blow themselfs up plus the inoccent who only want to live their lifes.

It´s only a cover.Just like an horror movie. It´s not real. Still,to "ofend" nothing better than the "Eaten Back to Life" or the ever cool look cover of "Butchered At Birth"

I think we should display a warning next to the homepage link. It is nothing more than an image from the cover of "The Wretched Spawn" and can be considered a shock site.

I can see your point, but I don't see why would need to put up a warning to a site that just seems to 'scare people for the hell of it'. The "official homepage" is nothing more than a gross picture. Having said that, I just removed the link. -- SoothingR(pour) 16:44, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It's the official homepage. It's just down for maintenance right now. They're moving servers. So they put up the pic of the chick from The Wretched Spawn, instead of a boring 404 page. The title of the site even says, "down for maintenence" --SonicTailsKnuckles 15:53, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm aware of that, though I do not see the need to link to profanic content when it's not necessary. Which is the case with this article -- SoothingR(pour) 16:53, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
The site is no longer down for maintenance, there is now actual information on it. However, there is still some gore in the background. Should we link to it?
Yeah, I think that it's safe to have it on Wikipedia now. -- SoothingR(pour) 21:07, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Fuck them pussys if they can not deal wiht any image they can go to hell.No reason not to show that image. In America one every single piece of money there is a thing that says "In god We Trust"well for one I don't believe in such a thing as "god" but they put it on there and I'm sure others are offended by that do they take it off hell no.So fuck them

Mayhem didn't actually put the picture of Dead on the cover, that relese was a bootleg although many people even the band consider it an important part of the history of Mayhem, for the picture more than the actual music.--Xdiabolicalx 20:43, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tuning

Who knows what is the guitar-tuning Cannibal Corpse guitarists use?..

B-flat. --SonicTailsKnuckles 01:59, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

E-flat on the first 4 or 5 though. They then went onto 7 strings starting with Vile or Bloodthirst.--Xdiabolicalx 20:43, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cannibal Corpse tunings: - 6 String tuned "D# G# C# F# A# D#" for 'Eaten Back To Life' to 'The Bleeding'. - Mummified In Barbed Wire and Orgasm Through Torture are tuned to C# (Vile) - 7 String tuned "A# D# G# C# F# A# D#" for all albums after. - 3 songs on KILL in G# C# F# B E G# C#: Death Walking Terror, Infinite Misery, and The Time to Kill is Now.

Complex?

Under the subheading of "Biography" Cannibal Corpse's music is described as complex.

I don't think anyone would call Cannibal Corpse's music "complex."

Ok. What does this establish? Give some examples of their music being simplistic. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.255.223.111 (talkcontribs) .

Please sign comments by typing ~~~~, so it is clear who's saying what. (See WP:TPG.) Regarding the complexity question, CC's music is extremely complex by general music standards (compared to, say, the Rolling Stones or Britney Spears), but perhaps not particularly complex by death metal standards (compared to, say, Bolt Thrower or Carcass (band)). (I'd be inclined to say their music is fairly complex even by death metal standards, though.) dbtfztalk 16:50, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that their latest stuff is complex is why most fans still listen to them aparrently, How anyone can say its not complex is beyond me. They started to get technical on Tomb Of The Mutilated.--Xdiabolicalx 20:43, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"I don't think anyone would call Cannibal Corpse's music 'complex.'" Well, then, I don't think anyone would call you "someone who understands music." Cannibal Corpse has become one of the most technical bands out there. VelvetKevorkian 05:21, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You guys stop re-adding the edit that Cannibal Corpse didn't play any of the songs from the first albums untill 2006. Its just not true, I know plenty of German Cannibal Corpse fans who were there and know better. If you want to add that the ban was lifted - fine - at least thats true. Brutal Death

I added "brutal" before death metal as the bands genre. To me the violent lyrics and gory album covers makes it brutal death, as opposed to death metal. Correct me if I'm wrong. In Flames 11:28, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I always thought bands like Suffocation and Nile fell under that category... Cannibal Corpse doesn't sound that brutal really, they don't play that fast. I suppose their lyrics and imagery do sort of make them fall under that category, but it doesn't seem to me that their music does. I'm not going to edit the article, but I personally don't think CC falls under Brutal death metal.76.100.210.211 20:52, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Theyre not brutal death. Even if they were, i wouldnt put it there as bands like Suffocation (who are well known for being this and even pioneers of this) just say death metal under genre. No need to add it if no other band has it.. and i would not call them brutal death anyway. so ive removed it. Isilioth 05:41, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pitts

Check out the last edit, anyone know who Andrew Pitts is? Are we looking at some stupid punk who's trying to make a name for themselves via vandalism? Tommyt 17:02, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jim Carrey.

Has Jim Carrey ever been QUOTED as saying he's a Cannibal fan? VelvetKevorkian 05:25, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently, he was in a record store at some point in the early 90s and saw some Cannibal Corpse albums. He was intrigued by the covers; what's the music going to sound like with such violent album covers? So he bought a couple of the albums, realised he liked the music and thus personally requested that the band appear in the film Ace Ventura: Pet Detective; I am, however, not sure if Carrey ever said that CC were his favourite band. I read all this in a recent issue of Metal Hammer magazine.

Is there any evidence aside from this anecdote out there? Is it written that Cannibal Corpse is Jim Carrey's favorite band? I think it should be deleted.Tomjoad187 04:59, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cannibal Corpse actually appeared twice in the first Ace Ventura film; therefore, I think they should be credited with two cameos instead of just one.

Vandalism

It says Bob Dole was quoted as saying that CC violated his wife...it used to say they violated human decency. is that right?

"Cannibal Corpse is noted as the most succesful death metal band ever"

Bullshit, my friend, and unless someone objects I am going to erase this sentence from the article.

hey dumbass wheter a band is succesful or not depends on records sold. and CC is THE death metal band that has sold the most records, partially due to their apperance in ace ventura

Got evidence to back up that claim? Tommyt 15:26, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BRAVO rewrites!!

COOL!! The rewrites look GREAT. Finally, we've got an informative article on the Corpse, not just gushing fan nonsense. Also, the fact I reinserted about the band forming from 3 other Buff area bands is completely true; I'm from Buffalo, I was part of the death metal scene, went to Buffalo State College with Alex Webster & if you look them up in the Enc Metallum at http://www.metal-archives.com/ Also, "Tirant" is spelled properly so don't bother to fix it. Censored albums

Heyhey, I’m a fourteen-year old CC fan and yeah, censoring Wikipedia is obviously bullshit, but since this seems like the appropriate place to ask, are there any UK sites that stock versions of CC albums with the censored covers? It’s just that my mum’s seen the section in Metal: A head banger’s journey about them and she’s still pissed that I saw Hostel.Kung Foo 17:58, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

who did the artwork for their albums? Im talking about the good ones, butchered and tombs of the mutilated and the others in that vein that are obviously the same artist.

Vincent Locke has done the cover artwork for every album but Kill, where the illustration was inside the case.Moggatog 20:03, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

cover?

when did CC cover sepulturas ´´roots bloody roots´´?

Cannibal Corpse never covered sepultura's roots bloody roots. Paul and Alex have both personally told me this. Apparently the way this rumor got started is that some band somewhere covered the song, and an MP3 labeled as "Cannibal Corpse - Roots Bloody Roots ( sepultura cover ).mp3" or some such nonsense was uploaded to the p2p filesharing networks and it just took off from there.

Vile Reissue...

Since both the recent rerelease of Vile and the original version of Vile exist in Wikipedia, shouldn't they be merged together since the reissue is mostly an inclusion of the DVD? AKnot 20:32, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:CanCorpse Logo.png

Image:CanCorpse Logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page.
