== CRIMINAL CAREER ==
It would be nice if someone would note that when he was made acting capo of Carmine Fatigo's crew, he wasn't even a full fledged made member in the mafia, which is an interesting piece of information. Also, it would be nice to say that he was inducted into the mafia formally after doing a stint for the murder of an Irish hoodlum who lived on Staten Island for Carlo. I believe after that murder he was promoted to captain instantly, right when he was made, I don't remember though.

Career

One paragraph in this section describes how Gotti got close to boss Carlo Gambino while acting as Capo - the very next paragaph describes how he usurps boss Paul Castellano. There is nothing inbetween to inform that reader that Gambino had died in 1976 and Castellano was his successor. It could be confusing for readers with no prior research. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.16.229.138 (talk) 00:32, 18 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

stupid tense argmuent

"plead" may be the most collegiately (sp?) correct spelling of the past-tense of "plead;" however, it is my belief that "pled" is more universally accepted. Please prove me wrong. 06:17, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Know what I mean

You know that thing? Yeah that thing about the thing? The thing about the thing with the thing in the thing about the thing? Well the thing is the thing.

Cancer & Aids

Although some folks continue to change the cause of death from Cancer to AIDS and it gets REVERTED BACK. If the cancer that caused John Gotti's death was caused by AIDS then this would be a reason for listing the death as an aids death. All we need is evidence that supports this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.61.20.7 (talkcontribs)

Fifth brother

Why the hell is there a fictional fifth brother? Someone delete this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.115.113.69 (talkcontribs)

Not good prose

Although many think this was acover up designed by the ceraolo family after Mace Ceraolo the much feared head hitman of the ceraolo family killed John Gotti with such skill.

Cause of death

Did John Gotti have aids? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.60.223.139 (talkcontribs)

I'm pretty sure he died of throat cancer, and his death wasn't related to AIDs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MZucker (talkcontribs)
John Gotti DID NOT die of AIDS. He died of throat cancer as was already mentioned. Had he died of AIDS, believe me it would have been reported on because his life from the mid-1980s to his death in 2002 was under the microscope of the media. Also he wasn't the don of the Gambino Family from 1986 to 1992. He was only convicted of racketeering in 1992 and sent to prison. He was still the official boss of the Family until 2001, when he turned control of the Family over to his brother, Peter Gotti, who became the official boss. Between 1992 and 2001 there were committees or acting bosses running the Family. So he was actually "the don of the Gambino Family" from 1986 to 2001.
Also, this part right here in the article is just stupid: It was also rumored that Gotti's throat cancer was the result of a beating he took at the hands of a black inmate with whom he had a fight in 1996. He got beat down in Marion by a black inmate but nowhere has it ever been referenced that that caused his throat cancer. I would suspect if any one thing caused his throat cancer was that he was a lifelong smoker of cigarettes and cigars. But that's only a guess and should not be included in a biography of this man in any way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.182.147.30 (talkcontribs)
I am not aware of any research linking AIDS to any type of Cancer. I am also unaware of any research linking acute trauma (such as a beating) to any type of cancer. I would be much more inclined to believe the smoking-->cancer theory, but like 24.182.147.30 I have absolutely no evidence or research to indicate this Lorangriel 19:02, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is a vast amount of research linking AIDS to cancer, in particular Kaposi's Sarcoma, a form of skin cancer that appeared in many of the first patients to be diagnosed with AIDS Manormadman (talk) 16:52, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Manormadman[reply]

That may be, but he didn't die of AIDS so that doesn't matter. Lock & Key (talk) 08:46, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Use of slang language

When Gotti was sixteen he quit school for good and joined the Fulton-Rockaway Boys, a local teenage gang that stole automobiles, fenced stolen goods, and rolled drunks.

What does "rolled drunks" mean? Whatever definition that word takes, it's not in the dictionary. Maybe the article should refrain from using slang terms.

There's also "joined other hoods", which made for some, er, colorful reading. Xiner (talk) 23:58, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why remove the image form the article?

Why remove the image of him in court? It's going to be delted so might aswell keep it there for the moment. The H-Man2 19:09, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop the vandalism on the John Gotti page.

Please just stop reverting photos that you don't think are manly enough, hurt your feelings, etc (his public did not remember him with this photo) He is not remembered from any one photograph. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mynameisstanley (talkcontribs) 12:19, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are the one that is vandalizing the page. You use a double identity to do so, operating as User:Sdhilio as well (see here). Your images are not according WP:NPOV. Whether you like the guy or not (and I certainly do not - if that is what your trying to imply) he was known as the Dapper Don and appeared in every newspaper with his irritating smirk. That is how people know him. You have a history of accusing others of doing what you are doing yourself, remember? Just read this and this again. - Mafia Expert (talk) 12:29, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BAD PHOTO

I was just about to say that this photo freakin blows. Nobody can recognize this person by this photo. I'm not trying to represent a reputed mob boss, I am just saying that for encyclopedic purposes it is hard to recognize the person!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.201.193.254 (talk) 17:02, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
