Hi there,

I hope this FAC will pass, as I said in my review. It is a fascinating story. On a related matter, since plain-text dates have been required in featured articles for seven months now, I notice you participated in an RFC late last year on date autoformatting and year links. I'm afraid this issue is the subject of another RFC. There's even a temporary ArbCom injunction against the removal of the square brackets around dates. (Apparently it’s still OK to delink on an occasional basis, for example, in featured articles that you nominate, but caution may be the best approach for the moment.) People are overwhelmingly against the blue-link date autoformatting, but now there's a push to add a template string to each date to re-introduce autoformatting for WPian editors who want to select a different dispaly for themselves.

The injunction will be in force until the matter is finally resolved at a current RFC. You may wish to make your views known again on this same issue, whatever your opinion is now. It's open until Monday, I think.

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!

So you don't feel alarmed, I plan on expanding the article tomorrow and Friday, and hopefully making it the 9th tank article to get to featured article status. I feel relatively comfortable that I have enough sources to cover everything, so we'll see (I am currently looking for more reliable sources on its exports, including news articles - but, the catch is that they have to be reliable sources). JonCatalán(Talk) 22:50, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, if you're interested, perhaps you'd like to join the Military land vehicles task force, which is part of WikiProject Military History. JonCatalán(Talk) 22:51, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest, I would take as many as you could of whatever was there. That's what I did at the tank museum in Madrid. If it's not too much to ask, I have a personal request. A good photograph of the Iraqi T-55 modification 77 (might be labeled as the Enigma at the museum). There is one image on Wikipedia, for sure, but I uploaded on for Battle of Khafji the other day with the permission of the author, but an image uploaded here where the author was a Wikipedia and guaranteed its copyright might be safer. I'd really appreciate it. Thank you! JonCatalán(Talk) 23:10, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's the one. Thank you! JonCatalán(Talk) 02:18, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! That shot is great, and is a better shot than the ones that are available now. JonCatalán(Talk) 15:08, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I was wondering if you'd be interested in commenting on the article's A-class review. I only need one more vote to get it promoted, and it will go right to FAC after (my current article there already has three supports, allowing me to put a second article through when it passes the project review). Thanks! JonCatalán(Talk) 17:22, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Milhist!

Panzer I see also

I would agree with your idea, but I don't want to make a "see also" section because I don't want other editors filling the article with external links to unreliable websites (which is why I get rid of "see also" altogether). Maybe an alternative would be naming it "Wikimedia" or something like that. What do you think? JonCatalán(Talk) 14:27, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I actually like the map. It's really clear. JonCatalán(Talk) 03:15, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NowCommons: Image:DSCF0917.JPG

Image:DSCF0917.JPG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:Image:Junkers Ju 88 RAF Hendon.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[Image:Junkers Ju 88 RAF Hendon.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 21:10, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

clear

I noticed you put "clear" inside double braces {"{") in the German armored fighting vehicle production during World War II page. I cannot find a reference to it, it is not in the page Help:Variable. What does it do? Hilmar (talk) 16:09, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Class I UAV

A tag has been placed on Class I UAV requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Tetrarch References

Hi there. Thanks for combining the refs on the Tetrarch (tank) article, but that isn't quite how they work. There shouldn't be twenty or so put as 'Flint pp. 9-14', but should be only be done by combining the same page numbers. Ie, Flint, p. 9, (however many times) Flint, p. 10 (however many times) etc. Could you please undo the references and restore the uncombined refs back so I know what pages I cited? Skinny87 (talk) 17:57, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I went through and compared revisions and copied the references back. Thanks so much for combining the other refs, but please be careful about combining multiple pages together - they should be combined with their own page numbers or page ranges, as I said above. Thanks again! Skinny87 (talk) 18:23, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I can see what you mean, but I haven't seen it done any other way, and I'd prefer it just done by individual pages in the articles I work on at least. I think the MILHIST MoS says to do it the way I've been doing it. Skinny87 (talk) 19:06, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes, of course, just as you did with the other references on Tetrarch that dealt with a single page. Thanks again for your help! Skinny87 (talk) 19:26, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Universal Carrier

Hi there! Thanks for pointing out that policy, I didn't know that one. I've only placed the images there temporarily to keep them out of the way - it's a lot less difficult to edit without having to work round a load of centered images on an article. I hope you won't need to revert, as it will only be temporary until I can expand the article to make room for them. Or perhaps I should place them on the talk-page of the article for safekeeping? Regards, Skinny87 (talk) 19:14, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ahh, I used to do that, but I find that just saving the old stuff to the talkpage saves time and makes it easier to find if anyone has any queries. Thanks for the help! Skinny87 (talk) 19:26, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just thought I'd let you know; the reason I haven't worked on the article for a couple of days is that I'm waiting to see if I can get a grant from the Polish wikimedia to get the Osprey book on the Universal Carrier to write the article. It's the comprehensive book on the UC family, and I think I'd need it to really rewrite the article. Skinny87 (talk) 09:30, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
