Recently major upgrades to Highway 91A were made under the Border Infrastructure Program, which was a program set up between the Federal and Provincial governments to upgrade key sections of highway. The intersection with Marine Drive at the north end of the bridge, long a bottleneck and a safety hazard, was upgraded to a full freeway interchange. There are now median barriers on Highway 91A over the bridge too. South of the bridge the Howes street intersection was also upgraded to full freeway status. The Queensborough Bridge traffic now flows a lot faster and smoother thanks to these upgrades. |
